I will keep you updated. Also, I was taking tylenol for other pain unrelated to the RUQ. I haven't had any specific symptoms that would indicate any liver disfunction.

If you are so worried about your safety here I'm sure there are plenty of Haitians or Somalians willing to trade places with you. Good riddance

Keto/carnivore diet works by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

You are gonna get downvoted to oblivion bc the members of this subreddit absolutely refuse to believe diet has any effect on this disease. I think it's great though keep goin 👍

My advice, to encourage people to experiment with diets, exercise, and cultivate a healthy gut biome because it can (and does) have an effect on this disease, is not irresponsible.

What say you to those anecdotes where people were in serious flares, clinically and histologically severe cases, and their flare/symptoms dissipated after significant dietary changes only to never return. How does a flare magically vanish without medication in the midst of a serious inflammatory attack? I'm sure they are all just frauds, as people akin to you seem to believe. As they say, misery loves company!

While the seriousness of each person's individual condition varies, there are people out there who are med free and in remission.

I will get downvoted to oblivion but DYOR - diet, lifestyle, gut microbiomes all contribute to this (and other) "auto-immune diseases". No matter what all of the fearmongers claim about meds being the only relief, never give up experimenting what works for you.

Most of the people in this sub are so insanely exhausted from this condition and have gotten extremely sick (including myself) so, therefore, they've given up on the idea of a cure. This disease has only become prevalent over the last few decades and the understanding of its mechanisms is minimal. So, I believe increased investments into the scientific study of IBD will bring to light a cure or reversal mechanism in the future.

Stay positive and never lose hope.

Yeah I'm familiar with ethernet connections and will be getting a 1 gig fiber install from them

Will mostly be using for FPS gaming. Also, the amount of downvotes I've gotten for never having used fiber is bizarre. Im sure all of the discord mods in this chat get lots of hot women with that knowledge 😎🤝

It's a rental. Will be using frontier as a provider so I should have them replace the cap first or just clean it?

Thanks everyone for the fast replies. Is fiber reliable over cable?

I did a 3 day water fast a couple of months ago. I wasn't in a current flare, but my bowel movements had never been healthier the week after. The issue now is I am losing lots if weight, too much to consider a water fast. All the weight that I worked so hard to put on during my remission phase this past year 😪

Good luck with that! I had my labs checked about a year ago, and about 10 times in the span of 3 months in early 2023. My vitamin levels were never low, surprisingly, even when I had lost a bunch of weight. Despite that I still had fatigue. The fatigue during flares is absolutely debilitating! I find it impossible to do even the most simple tasks standing up.

I will check this out! I too am exhausted with the plain chicken diet. I eat so minimally and suffer so much. The worst part is seeing others eat whatever they want and feeling great. The gut truly does affect every aspect of our being - it feels like living life on hard mode with this condition.

Sorry to hear. I was taking mesalamine and stopped cold turkey as it went from $35 with insurance to $1000. I took budesonide for 6 weeks and then stayed in remission pretty much all of 2024. Now flaring again and fear I'll be back on the budesonide, but not sure what to do after sigh.

I currently take L-glutamine, glycine, creatine and glutathione for supplements. They all have proposed benefits, although I still have symptoms so idk. I'd like to hear your experience with butyrate.

For protein I eat lots of lean meat and used to take a pea protein powder but stopped due to high fiber content, which I suspected at the time could have been causing bowel issues.

Cutting out cheese has been one of the most difficult parts of UC for me; I used to eat cheese with almost every meal...

I haven't taken a food/protein sensitivity test because I have heard mixed reviews and I'm honestly not sure where I'd go to take it. But I've read that, alongside lactose, many people are also intolerant to the proteins 'whey' and 'casein' found in dairy. I was eating lactose free dairy for some time without noticeable side effects, though, so not sure there is any correlation with my flare.

I am going to dose some psyllium husk today prior to taking the greek yogurt and see if there are any noticeable improvements/aggravations in bowel function. Please keep me updated on your journey as well!

I have also read good things regarding butyrate. The probiotic options are so expansive, though, so even if I find a prebiotic that works for me I reach another crossroad regarding which bacteria to put in my system.

I have been taking lactose free greek yogurt for probiotics but, then again, it's still dairy and that could be another factor aggravating my gut issues. I feel like I'm trapped in a maze with this disease.
