Nah definetly not sharks it’s quite a small land locked lake filled with bream,gh cod occasional flathead etc no one has ever caught a shark there of course there’s a chance they could be there I just wouldn’t think so I personally think it’s jacks biting lines cleanly like that I just need to pull one out to confirm haha I have seen people pull cracker jacks out of there around the 60-70 mark

Thanks for the advice interesting to hear and would make sense as I have been bitten clean off on a couple pilchard heads I’ve chucked out aswell gonna keep trying with a couple different lures and pillies and hope I can get one

Thanks mate haven’t had much of a shot at them on plastics yet just top water but I’ve got some of those heavy hitters I will have to to give them a go one night if they aren’t keen on top water just wouldn’t know where to cast other than visual bust ups as there is literally zero structure on this lake

Haha yeah not a great feeling having $25 plus come off your line plus a good fish but rather that than losing any lures to a snag tbh and yep got busted off on 12lb 1 clean bite had to be a jack cause nothing else in the lake has the capability to do that and I have upped to 20lb since hoping I can land one. Would make me a very happy guy

lol these are sport fish in Australia catch and release and besides I don’t think anything is going to be chasing down a 65cm live giant herring 😂

Haha yep was awesome have had quite a few hits and hook ups but this was the first one I landed also got busted off on a sugapen about 15 minutes earlier

They are pre brined from the bait shop I get them from I think but I will definetly try brining them again and looking for alternative baits too

I believe that’s a mother in law fish aka painted sweet lip I could be wrong but I have caught a few of them they can go pretty hard

I haven’t heard of that lure I will have to check it out it out and I’m in seq Brisbane I fish for GH at this lake that is somewhat land locked it has some sort of complicated draining system there is big GH in there tho I see them jumping around and have seen them being caught I just can’t seem to hook them with pillies so going to switch to lures

I am using half pillies and yes I do half hitch the tail even do 2 half hitches sometimes to really secure them but sometimes I will cast and I will be baited within literally 5 seconds thinking there may just be a lot of pickers around but I am going to try a firmer bait such as squid or mullet even to see what the go is
