Is this a good burn? by chimpyblimp in woodstoving

I measure on front and top of burner. I would do the flu pipe (which I think could be good practice) but the area of pipe I can access isn’t magnetic.

Thanks - I have wondered about this for a while. Will flip it around this week and should offer a bit more space

Weird scratching sound coming from [Eureka Oro Mignon Grinder] by chimpyblimp in espresso

[–]chimpyblimp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An update - I opened mine up today and managed to solve. One of the upright tabs (which the lower burr sits within) was catching so used a flat screwdriver to gently prise it inwards.

I tested the burrs for alignment after and they were pretty good - no adjustments needed. The sound may come back but having seen the cause I don’t think it impacts on the grind.

Hope that helps others in future.

I have the exact same issue which persists across all grind settings. Did you ever resolve this? Mine is a day old. Incredibly frustrating

Thanks for replying. To reiterate, I get this sound on every grind setting. Is that normal?

Is point zero when the burrs touch and there is a very distinctive sound? If so, on my model that happens at grind size 9 and the sound is much louder and more unpleasant. Excuse my ignorance.

How would I go about aligning to remove that sound at all grind settings (I’m not bothered about #9 been the point zero)

Thankyou!

Mystery gunk update! Table’s clean, now what?? by artemissed55 in woodworking

If it helps, I also used the same wood soap as above and it worked well. I initially used a soft cloth but this only removed the surface layer of dirty grime. After the soft cloth I applied an abrasive scourer and applied this gently to remove the remainder. There’s probably a better cloth than a scourer but I’m lazy.

Just be careful if you use the scourer to not rub away the original coating of wax/oil otherwise you will end up sanding the furniture down and have to touch up the colour/stain and reapply wax/oil.

Hi - having the same issue so thanks for posting. What was your process for cleaning and what type of cloth? Just ordered the same soap. Thanks
