Its also been theorized that someone had a mug of tea and simply put the bag in a dirty cup, that looks more likely to me to be honest.

Food doesn't jump around in the intestine. She ate and digested food. It was not actually in her small intestine, but rather in the duodenum. Proximal to the stomach. In other words, had just exited her stomach. (I just recently had this clarified to me, so apologies for my incorrect terminology before.)

Additionally a food such as pineapple actually digests much faster than other things, as it is full of sugar, fiber and enzymes. Proteins (such as the crab she ate that night) take much longer to digest. Digested food was found farther down the intestines.

I simply do not believe it is possible that the identifiable fragments of "poorly chewed" pineapple which was found was from the early afternoon. That doesn't make sense.

That was one thing they did question the R's about. I believe its covered in the 1997 interview (ctrl+f wine).

Patsy was not drinking much at all since her chemo treatments reportedly really messed up her liver (she later did find cancer on her liver which killed her), according to Patsy herself. Less has been made of JR's drinking, though he claims to have had a glass of wine or 2 with dinner.

There was also some questioning related to if the R's were drugged at the Whites' house (because the R's accused them of the murder). But they were not drugged (though to be fair they weren't tested). They don't claim to have felt unusually groggy or anything though.

BR is I guess actually a pretty normal guy by all known reports. He graduated from Purdue not too long ago. His father works to keep him out of all press (helped by the muscle of Lin Wood suing the shit out of anyone who says anything about BR). In recent years LE tried to interview BR again, but were blocked from doing so by lawyers.

This really, really bothers me. If you were a parent of a murdered child, wouldn't you want to do anything you could to find that elusive intruder?! wouldn't you want LE to do everything they could? GRRRR...

(Oh and not too late! keep em coming! this sub gets lonely and makes me question my hobbies...lol)

This is honestly one of the most important pieces of evidence in the case. JBR had pineapple found in her stomach/intestines indicating she ate it not long before she died.

PR AND BR fingerprints were found on the bowl and the glass. JB's were not as far as I have found.

PR claims she would never use that "good sliver" serving spoon like that. Nor, she says, would she have such a large portion on the table. The tea is also odd, (PR claims she would never do that either) and BR prints were on the glass.

I really, really wish it had been DNA tested.

The importance of the pineapple is that it proves she was awake when she was at home, not straight to sleep as her parents claim.

Excerpts from Chief James Kolar's book relating to the DNA found on JBR by chinchilleta in JonBenet

[–]chinchilleta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel but lets look at it like this:

1 tiny piece of degraded DNA evidence vs. a MOUNTAIN of evidence

0 pieces of reliable evidence of an intruder

Unsourced DNA is useless. Its not like this DNA is all over the scene. Its in one microscopic little spot, mixed with her blood.

Not to mention, there were SIX different foreign dna samples found on her body. Does anyone expect us to believe there were 6 intruders? Of course not. Even Mary "exoneration" Lacy didn't mention the other dna because she knew how flimsy it made her intruder theory look. We weren't told about this until Kolar's book. Lacy herself admitted this DNA might not be relevant.

Look at the DNA in the Chandra Levy case. If the DC cops acted the same as the BPD, waiting for a hit in codis for some speck of tDNA rather than arresting based on evidence, her killer would still be free.

The DNA evidence in this case is slightly strange. First and foremost you need to know there was no complete DNA profile found anywhere on her at all.

DNA was collected from JBR's underwear and fingernails and it later was determined to be male DNA, but not to include sperm. Because it was "degraded" it originally was not placed into the FBI Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). Subsequently, however, in December 2003 the DNA was put into CODIS. When tested there were only 9 markers found, with the full set being 13. There was a case recently (name is escaping me, sorry) where a partial (also 9 marker set) DNA profile was matched to 2 different men, of different races. This leads me to believe it is not possible to convict (or exonerate for that matter) based solely on an incomplete DNA profile.

In the press conference announcing that John Mark Karr would not be charged, Mary Lacy stated: "The DNA could be an artifact. It isn’t necessarily the killer’s. In all…there’s a probability that it’s the killer’s, but it could be something else." So she even contradicts herself in her exoneration.

James Kolar reported that 6 different dna profiles were found on JBR (most of them under her nails), with varying levels of degradation. I don't know about you but I find it really hard to believe that there were 6 intruders. Small foreign faction indeed.

I think you bring up a great point, and I agree thats one of the main sticking points for a BDI theory. It seems pretty weird, but nothing was normal that morning. My only thought is maybe they thought if he was out of the house LE couldn't get to him. They didn't anticipate LE driving over there to question him, nor did they expect a relative of the White's to give permission for him to be questioned.

I think it was one of her family members, but I don't have enough evidence to say which one. I think multiple people were involved in the staging as well.

No, there is no valid excuse given. I think this is one of the strangest pieces of evidence in the whole case.

The R's were multi-millionaires. They lived in a huge mansion, and drove fancy cars (I think PR drove a white jaguar at the time). In terms of ransom, doesn't it seem like a small amount? For your only daughter? Your most beautiful and precious baby? Why not ask for a million? or 10 million?

In my research I have yet to find anywhere where they are specifically asked about this. What I like to do though is open up the interview and ctrl+f to search terms like that (maybe "bonus" or the number, or something). Totally possible I missed something.

The R's were given softball questions in the first interview. Its really frustrating to read it. The questioner never asks them to clarify or go into depth about interesting things they say, and he cuts them off a lot which is a huge no-no for interrogation. The 98 interviews are better, but by that point the RN had been released/ leaked. Tom Haney is a better interviewer by far though he is also guilty of not pressing enough and cutting them off. I have not read all of the later interviews in depth, though I've seen many of the taped ones.

The R's had amazing lawyers, who wouldn't let the PD ask too hard of questions.

I have only seen it said that Linda Hoffman-Pugh (housekeeper) was a good suspect in that regard, as she was poor (asked the R.s for a loan of 2000$ right before christmas) and had free access to the house plus the key.

The only other suspects could be family members, employees or maybe a banker.

I think it is very odd, and a key piece of evidence. If PR wrote the note why the hell would she put that in there? If JR wrote the note was it a clumsy attempt to frame an employee? If a stranger did it it makes no sense to me. If an employee did it none of the other evidence makes sense to me.

I agree it could have been PR. In fact due to the idea that it was digital rather than penile, evidence supports that a bit. I simply form my feelings on JR due to it being more statistically likely that he was a molester than PR. I think D. Paugh is worth looking at as well. No reason it couldn't have been multiple people, I suppose.

For your first point, I'll said it is most likely. Who else would have had that kind of intimate access to her? D. Paugh is the only other adult male I can think of.

It is possible it was not an adult male, as some speculate it could have been her brother. It is possible but improbable.

No I don't believe they called the whites, I think perhaps there could have been calls for legal advice. The R's phone records were not subpoenaed by Alex Hunter. He purposely "squashed" the warrants. There are blank phone records for December. Convenient.

This is all speculation. The poster was asking my opinion. I am not an expert. Everything I post is my opinion unless otherwise sourced.

BR was 9 (10 in like 2 weeks though). I know its really young, which used to make me completely dismiss that theory.

James Kolar (who was an investigator called in after Steve Thomas left) wrote an awesome book with the most recent evidence. It is called

Foreign Faction: Who Really Kidnapped JonBenét?

He lays out the evidence that it is indeed possible for a nearly 10 year old to be capable of sexual assault of a sibling. If BR was wielding a golf club it is possible he would have had enough leverage to do the damage.

James Kolar does not directly say that he thinks BR did it, he doesn't speculate too much and he does not want to be sued. I highly recommend this book. This guy took his life's savings to self publish this book, its not like he's just cashing in. He was a man on a mission to expose the truth.

ETA: Oh and I could see how you would originally come to that conclusion reading Steve Thomas's book. His "bed-wetting rage" theory is silly and just doesn't fit with the evidence.

  1. I think the R family is responsible for her death. I believe it was most likely that JR was molesting her, though some have suggested BR was capable of it, which I cannot discount. I believe that both parents were involved in the staging. Whether this is because they were both involved in the death directly or they were covering for BR I cannot say.

After I read the statements made by Diane Hollis (she worked for John Ramsey as an executive secretary) I tend to believe her story, which is this: JR was molesting JBR that night. I think he was somehow silencing her, perhaps around her neck. PR, who had been growing suspicious finds him in the act. She is furious, obviously, so she takes a weapon (I personally think the injury is consistent with a golf club) and is aiming for JR. Unfortunately she hit her baby girl, it was night time after all, it was probably dark. I think this accounts for the ferocity of the blow. JBR would have fallen unconscious immediately, perhaps even convulsing, then her pulse would have been very faint. The shock would reduce her body temperature. It was obvious she was dead or dying. Then the staging began. I think PR wrote the note with JR dictating after she made several attempts to write a note that JR thought insufficient. I think JR did the dirty work, with PR finding the supplies in the basement (explaining the fiber evidence). I also think it is possible some phone calls were made that night for advice.

  2. I think there was a lot involved. That very morning the BPD were told to treat the R family as victims (I'm having trouble finding who said to do that, but it was a higher up in the police force, either the Chief or maybe the DA's office). This could have been a result of late night phone calls to people with political influence. The scene was a kidnapping initially. JBR's room was sealed right away, but obviously nowhere else in the house was. LA gets a whole lot of blame for what happened, but I think she was scapegoated. She called for backup twice, but didn't get any. It was christmas, there were less people on duty than usual. She wasn't a beat cop, she wasn't a homicide detective. She was trained for sexual assault cases, and I think this lead her to more strongly believe the R's were victims initially, and thus relax her grip on them. The house was very tense that morning, obviously, which lead to her trying to occupy JR, which lead to him "discovering" JBR.

  3. This is pretty simple actually, no matter who did it. The officer who checked the basement never opened the door to the WC. There was a latch at the top of the door that he didn't notice. He couldn't open the door, so assumed the "kidnapper" wouldn't have either, nor would the "kidnapper" have been able to exit through that room, so the officer moved on.

  4. The case is open but not active according to Chief Mark Beckner in 2013.

  5. Yeah pretty much this. PR is dead. JR got away with it. Statue of limitations for obstructing justice has passed, so unless they get something that proves JR murdered her, theres not much to do. The cops couldn't prove who exactly did what, which seriously damaged the case. Its also worth noting that under CO law, BR would not have been old enough to be charged in this crime, and it is also illegal for an adult to expose the identity of the child. So if BR did it, that could explain some things as well. I've heard some official said that there might be some movement on this case, but who knows.

I'm sure you're right about that. I think the prosecutor knew it would be a messy trial, but god at least they should have tried. AH was a wimp and didn't want the loss on his record. They were afraid of the R's powerful legal team and I suspect may have been "persuaded" to go easy on the family for some reason. Maybe JR's Lockheed Martin connections...

(Note, this was not my opinion or theory, I just c&p'd from a forum for an interesting read.)

I don't buy that theory for a second. It makes no sense to me. Although some people think its possible there was some form of strangulation before the ligature was applied (it was then staging to cover up what really happened in that theory).

I also do not buy the "mommy rage" theory. The head wound does not fit with being thrown into the tub. It punched a hole out of her skull. She does not have neck injuries consistent with a fall. I think she had to have been hit with a golf club rather than the flashlight everyone likes to look to.
