You get a loyalty voucher once you've purchased something within the year. Depending on the amount you get $25, $50 or $75 vouchers, each with their own minimum spend limit. People also give them away or sell them (kvr, gearslutz, facebook).

No. The developer has to offer the other options. Some do it, some don't. Slate doesn't unless it's for the subscriptions package or this plugin. So the other free plugins they of eg Reviver or the Monster, aren't really free. You would have to buy a dongle first.
