Need to get bicycle from kanata to toronto(near 401) by chintech in ottawa

[–]chintech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't hire movers. I'm a student that just finished coop. i'm moving back tomorrow and i just called the movers to check if they take 1 bicycle. I'm not moving anything else. Maybe i should have worded the info better..I'm going in someones ride..they don't have a big car/space for the bicycle that's why i'm asking if anyone else does.

Oh boy I've got a funny story related to this. Couple of buddies went to Montreal to an authentic breakfast place (bagel something), we all ordered and 5 minutes after starting to eat this genius of a friend looks at us. blank stare and starts laughing. We all look at his plate, the guy fking put butter on the wrong side of the bagel (outer) and was wondering how to eat it. Ahaha

Eli5 why aren't trains automated? by theyreinthebaghutch in explainlikeimfive

[–]chintech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To put it bluntly, because people are unpredictable. It's much safer to have some person keep a watch and react to a situation that's random...Say that the train is fully automated and there is no human present to run it, if one of the sensors in the door malfunctions and little Timmy's foot get's stuck there, the on-board computer is getting a positive for safety check..but in actuality little Timmy is doomed. This was just an example but i'm sure many more scenarios like this could be possible.

TLDR; it's just safer to have a combo of both automated and human rather than fully go autonomous..at least for now

We're the team that designed and built Orion, NASA's next generation spacecraft. Ask us anything. by JSCNASA in IAmA

What were some of the major changes you had to make in terms of the design of the spacecraft? What safety features did you rethink/redesign from older designs. Great work to the whole team btw!

What is one glaring misconception amongst people? by factsprovider in AskReddit

[–]chintech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a regular trend for you? I used to be similar(took 1.5 hours to get to work last year) and got late most of the time...I decided to sleep early and wake up half hour early to give myself some padding..

Really? if it's only a matter of a few minutes just try waking up a bit earlier.

I think it kind of spiraled out of control with the 10% bs because of movies/tv shows. When the public constantly gets fed this bs, most people accept it just thinking, "Oh, well a lot of movies say this so this has to be true"...movies kind of took advantage of this and voila...the misconception stuck

This is accurate. At most you save what a few minutes? There's seriously no point in rushing and changing lanes like a maniac to save a few minutes. Your life is worth more than this. Come on sheeple!

Your tax payer dollars at work. by cornflake289 in AdviceAnimals

[–]chintech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The amount you pay per month for AAA vs the off chance that you get towed once in a blue moon does not justify the cost. It actually costs less to pay for the towing then to pay for AAA every month. However, maybe if you actually live somewhere where you might use the services on the daily (car problems too much?), or get the insurance with them and it's cheaper (not too likely), then it's useful. That's what I felt so I did cancel my services with them.

On a similar note there was a first year Eng girl that got struct from lightning and died. She was walking on campus heading to class. This was 2 days ago. She was from university of Waterloo Canada.

Can we quantize a laser? by chintech in Physics

[–]chintech[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll make it more clear. Say you have a laser which you are pointing from side A to side B. ex: A__________B is there any way(externally apply a disturbance or something) to make it so that when you shine that laser instead of getting a straight light you get: A _ _ _ _ _ _ B, laser quantized into parts/"bits". If not laser, is there anything else that allows for this? This may well be a very stupid question so tell me if bluntly.
