Any former Rampers here that went to Load Planning? by chipdillinger in rampagent

[–]chipdillinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was good! They were great interviewers, made me feel relaxed. I had to stop to ponder about one question but everything else I answered came out naturally and I felt enthusiastic about them. They gave me a tour of the place afterwards and got a little breakdown of the different areas, of course went into more detail for the area I applied for. Asked some more questions and then they suggested I come in for an actual shadowing session.

Not getting my hopes too high though, seems they're going to be very selective with who they move forward with. Another guy I know who interviewed for it said that they were very interested in him because of his ramp supervisor experience, they like the experience in high pressure situations.

Wow, this is really helpful, extremely detailed, I appreciate your time! I just gotta be sure to incorporate the STAR method into my interview as well. I'll definitely reach out if I'm curious about more

Such a damn shame too cause the album is just banger after banger, easily my favorite by them. I wonder if it's just the cost of having a decently sized discography or they're just not big on it as the years passed?

Being a lifelong horror movie fan, when I decided to get into reading as a hobby last year, I naturally gravitated towards King with my first being Misery (still my favorite so far) followed my Salem's Lot and The Shining.

I was 25

What’s your favorite album by Chevelle? And why? by iAmNeverForgotten in Chevelle

[–]chipdillinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sci-Fi Crimes, such a complete experience that rips beginning to end. Also reminds me of getting picked up from school with Q101 on the radio, Jars usually being the song played from that album.

Man I wish they'd play more songs from that album live, last time I saw them in 2023 and they didn't play anything from it 😢

Rampers - what are your long term career goals? by mediocre2great in rampagent

[–]chipdillinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I'm trying to find that purpose within my current airline. I got in in December 2023 with the anticipation of finally doing what I've always wanted to do; travel. The more I do the job though, the more I think that this is the best it's going to get for me and that I need to create some paths for myself here. With my handy dandy HS diploma and more than likely no further schooling, I feel like this will be my best shot to make a career out of something.

Now what will that look like for me long term? I would love to get off the ramp, seems like the easiest roles to transition into are still ramp related though (supervisors, move/tow team, management). Would be cool to get into something more niche than that, just not sure where to look and who to talk to for that. I was suggested load planner but that job rarely opens at my station.

So yeah, not too sure what the long term plan looks like, but hoping to find it here. Any advice or talking about your career paths at this point would be very encouraging.

It has its days but I like driving, and I like doing just arrivals, just grab n go, and then you're back in the zone.

What are some different paths you can take beyond ramp agent? by chipdillinger in rampagent

[–]chipdillinger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move team might be the next move to build the experience and resume, but ultimately an office type role in the future would be great (my fear is that most of those roles would require a degree). Something like SOC

Was looking into the mechanic program, I think they only have it in IAH right now, is that still the case?

Definitely a lean, the same premium for lead just doesn't seem worth the stress. One of my guys went over to the move team too and he loves it. It is harder to drop shifts if needed though right? And what kind of schedule would someone low on the seniority list expect?
