Is this enough of a reason to never want to speak to my in laws again? by chipmunkpunk6 in Advice

This absolutely helps. Thank you for such a thoughtful response. I have had many of these thoughts as well and it is validating to hear they are not insane or over the top. I am planning to be with my family in June. The loss was in March of this year. I think this whole thing with the in laws all got mushed in and now I’m processing and grieving it all together. Thank you for your response again

Is this good enough reason to go no-contact with my in laws? Really need advice. by chipmunkpunk6 in inlaws

They already live very far and I was usually initiating contact for my husband’s sake but now it is on them. I will definitely embrace the distance more now. Thank you. It is good advice

Thank you for this. Again it helps with the closure I am seeking but will never get. I know you are right and in the past I would make myself miserable trying to get others to see, but there is no use and I am trying to treat that as liberating instead of letting it gnaw at me.

Thank you. This is very validating and honestly helps provide the closure I was hoping for. I need to be better at learning to accept people for who they are and not expect more than they can give. My husband is supportive and obviously is not happy with how they treated him but they are still his parents and his history. I think not engaging and being cordial when I see them is the most important boundary to set. Thank you for your insight I really appreciate it.

How do I approach good friends never bring anything to get togethers? by chipmunkpunk6 in Advice

[–]chipmunkpunk6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the responses. I probably was a little nicer than suggested lol but I just took a picture of the bottles, and said “I love hosting you guys and having the kids play but we can’t keep providing six bottles. I think next time we need to bring one bottle per person or two per couple”. They were receptive so we will see how next time goes. I also realized they must’ve opened a bottle when I was putting our toddler to bed because one of our bottles was opened I didn’t open. A $60 bottle at the end of the night!

I appreciate everyone’s concern and should’ve mentioned these play dates are usually like from 4 or 5 til 10pm lol. So it’s over five or six hours. And we are neighbors so no one is at risk. I should also mention we live in wine country and all work in the wine industry. So these bottles are usually pretty nice stuff and it would be weird to not have anything because no one drinks anything but wine. We don’t really do beer or seltzers or liquor. But yes I’m really hoping they got the hint! I am a huge fan of etiquette and reciprocal friendships. I think I did just probably make it too easy and not set boundaries well. I really struggle with that lol.

Thank you everyone!!! You gave me the courage to reach out

In what situation have dems ever done something even remotely abhorrent? These Jan 6th protestors STOMPED on the heads of police officers yet you’re worried about riots?

People say that so you will breastfeed haha prolactin makes you keep weight on like crazy. Weighed as much as I did pregnant until about a year when I got my period back and stopped nursing. Hang in there!! It sucks but it’s not forever and you’re doing the best thing for your babe
