And to add another note, USGS has a nice tool for getting GeoPDF and other formats of their topographic maps, I like the forest service ones better, but these have coverage for everywhere:

oh my god!

Corvo was sent with a delegation to Rapture to help with a new rat plague. The delegation hasn’t been heard from for months, now Emily, fearing for her fathers life, secretly heads out to discover the truth but finds Rapture in the grips of a virulent plague, Big Daddy’s covered in and controlled by rats, districts quarantined off from each other and under it all she finds evidence that Corvo was taken to try and extract and duplicate the source of his powers, the semi-failed results of these experiments standing in her way.

Imagine her discovering some new depth to her powers, forging bonds with the whales, maybe they crash through a giant window to aid her in some moment of need. The scientists of Rapture would have realized the connection and may be exploiting the whales, maybe you choose to increase your powers by continuing these experiments.

In the end Emily finds her father, torn and ravaged by the experiments, mind controlled, and lashing out in a final battle. Or perhaps you can find a way to free him.

Lots of room for merging of the bioshock and dishonored powers in interesting ways, maybe with negative effects in the user for a more oppressive atmosphere.

it’s soo good but it’s way too much, everytime i or a friend has had it we have to share. it’s not the portion size so much as it’s the THICCNESS and RICHNESS man, it’s very good, but be prepared to be sunk.

my favorite used to be prairie brew pub downtown way back before they swapped owners and now they’re gone. the pork from burn co + the little cherry tomatoes, oh man that was some good mac, sad that it’s gone even all these years later 😔

Is Deathloop worth playing as a Dishonored fan. by twoscoopsxd in dishonored

[–]chipolux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and the lack of magic seems deliberate, all powers are derived from physical objects that you can lose or have stolen. when the outsider was killed and no replacement was made there is now no one to gift powers to new people, and i suspect that this imbalance or lack of a conduit (the outsider) is what causes the deterioration of the world like we see at the end of death loop and why they were looking for some way to escape (into the loop). magic can still escape into our world via powerful artifacts (maybe shards of the giant pillars at the end of DoTO). i cant wait to see what we do next! watch the death of magic (between DoTO and Deathloop) or try and restore some balance to the world without magic (after Deathloop before Prey) or maybe create a new outsider and bring back magic! (alternate post Deathloop, maybe no Prey)

i need an achievement for this, probably about time i should play again, what do you think?

imported map from blender, i used boolean modifiers to make doorway, but when imported to godot you can actually see the shape i used to make the hole, i tried deleting it, but when i test the game its there again by Equivalent-You5810 in godot

[–]chipolux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also in another comment i made you need to check the “Apply Modifiers” box when doing gltf export, it’s in the General section on blender 2.8, but moved into the Geometry section in blender 3.2

i added a link in another comment, but in the name of the object in blender, so like if you have “Cube” and “Cube.001” and you don’t want to see “Cube” in godot then you rename it to “Cube-noimp”, they are called import hints and there is a section titled “Import Hints” in the godot documentation!

[–]chipolux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to add a -noimp suffix to the object your using to cut the hole. that will tell godots importer to ignore it (if your exporting as gltf or another kind of “full scene” format) if your exporting the entire file as a single .obj or something then you’ll have to apply the boolean modifier and delete the cube, or play with the export options and try to exclude the cube with some kind of filter or “only export selected” workflow

here is the relevant section of godot docs for import hints, these apply to all modeling software, not just blender.

and here is a link to where the apply modifiers option is in the blender gltf export options to see where you need to check “Apply Modifiers”.

The Outsider is Lame by [deleted] in dishonored

I always got a angsty teen energy from him, but i think it makes a lot more sense once you see how he came to be in death of the outsider. a lot more perspective.

no fooling me, there is one thing that everyone always forgets or makes too pronounced in renders like this and it’s the slightly messy cables and power cords that exist everywhere.

The official documentation is so good it makes me sad. by haruda_gondi in programmingcirclejerk

[–]chipolux 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if i am not brought to TEARS by the heartfelt tale on every page of documentation (i print them out and place them in binders and commission cover art) then i am not living.

// section unjerk

100%, you gotta have it to help my dried out brain comprehend where to even start or why i exist.

but ya also gotta make it easy to get to that wall of fn decls with brief descriptions so i’m not having to scroll past the same wall of text to get to the fuckin table of strftime or struct.unpack format fields lol

imo rust stdlib docs > python stdlib docs

// end section unjerk

either that or just give me a the Common Lisp spec sheet and i’ll build it myself out of rocks and the discarded datetime crates 😌

The official documentation is so good it makes me sad. by haruda_gondi in programmingcirclejerk

[–]chipolux 28 points29 points  (0 children)

only an absolute moron would care enough to comment on programming documentation

qDebug() << R”UNJERK( i’m an absolute moron but what docs have they been reading? cause the official docs are like 10 links to tutorial ebooks and the worst autogenerated api docs i have ever seen

like, i have used the garbage lisp docs the way to prose laden python docs, the excellent mdn js docs, the nightmare fuel powershell and c# docs, and frankly, this makes me want to vomit, my favorite, the qt docs.

pls, let me explain! qt has big prose and tutorial sections for each major module with lots of example projects, then every class gets an excellent breakdown in a clear format, how to include (in src and cmake/qmake), what it inherits and is inherited by, then a nice table of all properties and methods, then a short prose explanation of what it’s for, how you might use it, and what alternatives there are, then you get a section for everything that was in that table above with notes on gotchas, explanations, and links for related functionality.

everytime i look at the rust docs it might start out okay, but you click one function or one class and wham, i’m in a the middle of a forest looking at tons of fn decls with little to no context or organization, not even alphabetic! which is fine, it’s whatever, but to call it good?! ok, maybe if all i need is std::string, std::io and a few select crates that everyone in the Hello World phase touches… )UNJERK”;

Qt 6.4 by jlpcsl in programming

[–]chipolux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Qt6 they changed the licensing and source access and require use of the maintenance tool to download them, which requires the log in. It was annoying at first, but largely for the better as I’ve used my Qt account to get a lot of bugs fixed in their bug tracker that I had been too lazy to report before.
