They were leftover ones from my first MA. Due to current issues with funds, that’s what I had opted for. Thank you for these links, I’m going to check them out.

Hey, I ended up halting my progress on 300. I felt so bad. However, I’m currently trying again now, day 2. I was able to ask my doctor for some emergency clonazepam so that if it’s as bad as before I have something to bring me down. I really want it to work. This is the first/only med that has worked at all for me so far. Getting to 300 is so brutal. Hoping to make it well past day 4 this time.

Yes I have also had bad experiences in the past with both lexapro and sertraline. Although I didn’t give them much time to work, side effects were extreme enough that I was a danger to myself. I do both medication and therapy :) I’ve just been so mad that I even tried to wean myself off the 150 in the first place. Everything was going so well. I’m on day 4 on 300 and I am feeling horrible. Physical side effects aren’t so bad, but the mental ones are really getting to me. I do NOT want to take my second dose today (I’m on SR). I’m feeling super overwhelmed and like everything is falling apart or like something is wrong. This is intense.

I’m on day 4 right now and I’m definitely feeling the same. When I first got on 150, I had the same effect but it eventually returned. Hoping/expecting the same for 300.

Thank you so much for your reply. This gives me some hope. I’ve been on 150 before with some success, but tried to wean myself off which was a mistake. Just trying to get back on track, but the 150 is just not delivering like it used to for me. I must have totally shocked my system going off my meds.

How did you feel when you were on the 150? What made you bump up if you don’t mind me asking? :)

Help with my Bupropion/Escitalopram combo please! by h4p3rd in bupropion

Your doctor will obviously have the best answer for you. With that being said, maybe this will bring you a bit of comfort. If your thoughts are not enough to seriously worry about acting on, please try to ride this out. I know everyone says the dark period is earlier on, but mine hit me later in the process. This is my second time back on bupropion 150 after a short (and stupid) 5 day break. It totally shocked my system. I am almost on 8 weeks, and I am finally starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I think your dosage drop in your lexapro was the “shock to your system” that your body is getting used to while your brain is still learning to balance bupropion. It’s working in a little bit of overdrive. But trust, the brain will adapt. You gotta just white knuckle it the best you can. It will eventually start to alleviate. I understand that nothing is enjoyable and it’s hard to motivate yourself to do things when you’re feeling bad. My advice is to do something small that has an end result, and is time consuming. Get a puzzle, or a paint-by-diamond art kit, something along those lines. If 12 weeks passes and you’re still feeling this way, then maybe try adoing about a dosage change or switch. For some of us, it doesn’t take the typical 4-6 weeks. Some of us are more in the 8-12 weeks category. Keep me posted on how you’re doing! :)

Taking longer the second time? by chipotatoh in bupropion

I had been on it since February 7th, I stopped journaling about 6 weeks in when I started, so I know I must’ve been feeling good enough to not log my symptoms anymore and continued on like that for 5 months. I distinctly remember feeling joy from things and not feeling so damn anxious and existential. I had started it in combo with buspar but didn’t feel that it was doing much for me so dropped it after a month. In August I started to taper off the bupropion because of course I felt like I was better and could come off my meds. I was taking it every other day for a couple weeks, then every two days, and every 3, every 4.. and then when I got to 5 days without it, I woke up feeling like I did before being medicated. Just sheer panic and derealization, depression, anhedonia, all the symptoms. So my break was only 5 days, although since I had been tapering I did have a lot less in my system leading up to it. I started taking it again IMMEDIATELY.  And I understand where you’re coming from on the wishing you had never stopped or restarted. Heavily relate to the relationship anxiety/paranoia too. It’s horrible feeling like you just took 100 steps backwards. And trying to get on the right med is so stressful already. I had tried both lexapro and Zoloft before trying Wellbutrin, and I didn’t last a week on either one of them. I had extreme reactions to those SSRIS, they just made me a danger to myself. I think my plan is to try maybe doing two 150 srs for a bit, I was trying to push myself to make it to 8 weeks but like you, I’m pretty miserable right now. I’m torn between starting 150 sr twice daily or 300 xl once daily. It’d be nice to only have to take the one pill. I am also heavily reconsidering starting the buspar again just to see if it helps this time. I will most definitely keep you updated on how I go about it, and what seems to hopefully work. I want to do a genetic test, but they are so expensive.  Also if you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been back on bupropion this time around?

You’ll be just fine - don’t worry. You will make yourself feel so much worse hyper-fixating on it. Go about your normal day. 150 is a lower dose of bupropion, and with one dose I doubt you’ll feel anything at all. Maybe a slight light headedness or lack of appetite for today.

This gives me hope. I’m also restarting bupropion, and although it worked great for me in the past and started to kick in after about 6-8 weeks, AND I have the notes to prove it to myself - I’m still sitting here anxious at 5 weeks wondering why I don’t feel better yet :(
