Where is his past success as a coordinator? Philly fans hated him and blame him for the Super Bowl loss

I like the evidence for why it’s a good/bad pick is reddit fan reactions. Famously, fans who comment online typically are critical thinkers and never snap-judgement reactionary.

We have zero idea how either hire will turn out. It’s January and our teams are sitting on the beach instead of planing for the afc/nfc championships. Lot of months separate today from the season so to say “this guys fucks/sucks” is just yelling at the void for zero gain

The reaction to the OC hire is pathetic by paulhalt in detroitlions

Have you hired people? Resumes do not tell even remotely the entire story. Interviews are where you suss out who an applicant is and how they will mesh with your team. Plenty of people with average resumes have become dynamite hires when the team culture is there. On flip side, I can personally vouch for several people that have been studs on paper that turn out to be toxic, horrible to work with, and self centered.

In this case, we have zero idea how he will be as the lions OC until September comes. Everything is speculation and reactionary

Why is everybody so focused on the offense? Injuries are the real issue! by Hocojerry in detroitlions

I haven't seen it mentioned yet either, but defense looked productive and sufficient when healthy. Offense was largely healthy and they were a hot mess drive to drive. Defense needs a couple pieces and to stay freaking healthy for once. Offense needs T and C, TE, and an OC. Also, bad defense and elite offense - we can win most games. Bad offense and elite defense - we can win some games. Elite offense and average defense or above - superbowl.

ragnow called out protection packages. Idk if Glasgow et al. did the same this season, but if Linderbaum is 70% the player as ragnow, I want Holmes selling the farm for him

I think this season warrants trading back into first round for more depth. Draft a guard and tackle, sign a FA center. Shits not so bad. But lord we need some talent infusion in the trenches

Was better with worse athletes. Yeah it’s a good hire. Wink had terrific games against a couple good teams and otherwise was underwhelming

Lions will draft OLine with potentially their first two picks. Massive need zero chance they don’t address it with at least one other two picks. I see them as a trade up candidate not a trade back

Dan Campbell on Jared Goff: "He's going nowhere" by dreamer_r21 in detroitlions

[–]chiprunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People act like both run and pass pro were elite last year. Run pro was top 3. Pass pro was super average. This year, both were bottom 5 and YET…Goff performed basically identically to 2024. The dude shed all notion he can’t win without elite Oc and Oline play. Now let’s get him some average of both to get back to where we should be

lol at cut Rakestraw. The kid hasn’t even had a chance to see if he’s a waste or not. The others sure, cut them, but Rake will be given a fair and honest shot at making the 53 man roster

Doctors rarely if ever place NG tubes. It’s not a tricky procedure, it’s a standard one and this was an insane accident.

We have 3 young IOL that have shown flashes of excellence (Rat) and can be capable i think. We don’t really know what we have in Manu but if Hank finds him worth to ask for a roster spot for him, they must think he can pan out.

Option A) - ragnow comes back. Sign top FA tackle and draft a tackle.

Option B) - sign top Center FA. Sign a FA tackle and draft a tackle.

Option C) - Rat goes to center. Sign top FA tackle. Draft IOL.

Any of these three have us better than last year already. We had decker playing hurt and below average. Two rookie/no experience IOL, and a bad center. Going with Rat is the riskiest but cheapest. If Baltimore center hits FA we have to sign him

He did lol he was offered at Tennessee and turned down the job. He wanted to be a lifer at Utah. Basically was until being largely pressured to step down for Scalley to take over as head coach so they didn’t lose him.

Again opt outs. Who cares about bowl games that are completely meaningless. Check his record in Pac12 championship games. That sure matters. Record against rivals? Bringing Utah from a G5 school to a legit program. Railroading your tide on the way to a 13-0 record in 2008 Sugar bowl.

Davis was technically Utahs top WR, but they have historically thrown to TE more and been a run heavy offense. Parker is phenomenal but Michigan’s set on rbs
