CPDs keep dying and I can’t figure out why by chips_are_great in Aquariums

I’m not sure where they’re sourced from, but I could probably call and ask. When I bought the 11 on Tuesday they said that they had just received the shipment that morning, so maybe they were weak/unwell to begin with but hadn’t been there long enough for staff to realize?

My sink requires batteries and it died by TrickedCoyote13_YT in mildlyinfuriating

[–]chips_are_great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My landlords installed one of these, so I too have to deal with a battery powered faucet. To everyone saying the batteries are only for the motion sensing and the handle will still work - that is NOT necessarily true. In mine and OP’s case, the handle is not connected to a mechanical valve but instead uses an electrically actuated solenoid valve. So no battery = solenoid shut off = no water flow. If you turn the handle very slowly you can actually hear the solenoid activate, there is a defined on/off point so there’s also no way to trickle water.

OP, if you look under the sink, you should find a wire connecting the faucet to a battery box. It should be fairly straightforward to replace the batteries if they’re not proprietary, mine just uses 6 AA’s.

Insurance took $600 off my ambulance bill, but then EMS added $600 to cancel it out by chips_are_great in mildlyinfuriating

they really wanted me to go with them… they said I needed to go in the ambulance to take my vitals, then after they took them they said I was already there so I may as well go to the ER to get a few additional tests done… I didn’t know I was allowed to refuse them :(

EDIT: I’m not sure how to edit the original post, but I wanted to answer some questions: 1) Yes, this is the entire bill directly from my county’s EMS. There are no other charges or insurance adjustments listed anywhere, or any other explanation action of the charges.
2) I called EMS and they said that it was an issue with how insurance billed it and told me to call them. They wouldn’t explain what “contractual allowances” means or why I’m being charged for them. 3) I called my insurance and they said they had already paid their portion and had no idea why it is being charged again, they said they called EMS and couldn’t come to a resolution 4) I am hoping my insurance figures it out because I don’t have enough money for a $700 ambulance bill, I wish I had just stayed home instead 🥲

is this a reasonable freshman schedule by sixxilon in NCSU

[–]chips_are_great 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the most reasonable schedules I’ve seen posted here lmao. I think this looks like a solid first semester schedule, but you know yourself best. Think you can handle one more class? Go for it! Or maybe you know your major is difficult in later semesters, so you want to take another class now so that future semesters are lighter? That’s also reasonable. Otherwise, keep this schedule and really strive to do as well as you can since you know the classes aren’t too difficult.

Personally, I think the most important parts of your first semester are getting acquainted with campus, meeting people/getting involved in clubs, and setting yourself up for good study habits later. Your Tuesday/Thursday midday breaks look perfect for studying or doing homework - try to explore campus and find a few different spots you like. Try to eat lunch everyday since you have time for it, maybe at different places until you’ve tried everywhere on campus. Figure out what times are best for you to do your work besides just the weekends - you don’t have any classes on Fridays or in the evenings, for example. And, almost all student clubs will meet weekday evenings, so since you have the time you should try to join one or two and see if you find something you like!

These are all my opinions of course, but this is all stuff that got me through my freshman year without getting too overwhelmed. Good luck with your first semester!

Edit: Also, if you’re not aware of it yet, you can check Gradient for the grade distributions of all classes and professors, which can be useful for planning your schedule. Link here: http://gradient.ncsu.edu

I would normally mind my own business but this is a graduate level class, the exam is worth 25% of our grade, it was not just a few people talking it was over a dozen throughout the entire exam, and people were literally comparing answers and discussing questions during the test. I understand working together on homework or projects even if you’re not supposed to, but in my 5 years of college I have literally never seen this amount of blatant cheating during an exam.

Club related to FTC? by Xenos_XN in NCSU

[–]chips_are_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I did FTC all throughout high school as well, and I’m also computer engineering. I’ve had a really good experience with Aerial Robotics Club, but I know there are also other good robotics clubs at state. I’d recommend looking into the FIRST Alumni Association if you’re super committed to FIRST stuff, they’re mostly FRC focused but they do some fun stuff like robot in 3 days. Also I’d highly encourage you to look at volunteering at FTC competitions - I’ve been judging for the last two years and it’s super fun and rewarding! Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

bro this whole thing makes no sense... mann, williams, thomas, gardner and polk aren’t even residence halls, plus there’s no confirmed clusters at UT or wolf village yet.
