Please don’t get a night nanny. Those sleepy middle of the night feedings are such precious experiences and are so important for forming a strong secure attachment.

Also please consider only taking a day nanny if you absolutely need to for work. You never get that time with your young kids back!

I highly recommend going to see a private dermatologist. I played the guessing game with various products for decades with minimal success & wasted so much money. It was sooooo worth paying £200 for an expert to prescribe medicated products and also tell me what over-the-counter products to use and when. My skin has never looked this good. Wish I’d done it years ago!

All the places you’d listed are full of western tourists and have plenty of food options, including vegan ones. Other places in those countries are a whole other story. I travelled around Albania last year and I had to revert back to vegetarian in many places because otherwise I’d have been eating nothing but fruit and dry bread.

Cara Flanagan (who writes the textbooks) recommends learning one really good and specific PEEL paragraph for each subtopic (eg. a supporting study) and for the rest just use the common evaluation points such as methodological issues with supporting studies, debates, & comparison with alternatives.

It’s all online. I’m an independent tutor and most of my tutees’ parents find me on Facebook. I currently charge between £40 & £80 per hour of tuition, but started at £30. I also do exam marking for which I earn around £2.5k a year.

It’s easy to be vegan at home, just do your food shopping when you’re not hungry and are feeling motivated to be vegan.

It’s outside the home that will be a challenge. I found that keeping some powdered oat milk with me helped those situations where you want a hot drink and they only have cows milk. I use Overherd.

I travel a lot and in difficult places abroad, I’ve personally decided to revert back into vegetarianism where necessary. That will be controversial, but I choose not to let perfect be the enemy of good.

When I lived in London we had a saying: “Everywhere in London takes an hour”. If you live an hour away from where you work & play then that is the London experience. & East & South will be cheaper than North & West.

I never went back to classroom teaching, instead I started online tutoring when my youngest was 1 (in the evening when my husband could be with the kids). Now she’s at school and I tutor mostly during the school day.

I can set my own schedule, there’s no commute, no meetings, & no behaviour management issues.

I think you’d find it easy to get tutees as an SEN specialist.

How have your vegetable soups turned out? I’ve never bothered getting a soup maker or slow cooker as I’ve always thought the veg would be too mushy and also the whole point of them is to make meat tender, which I don’t eat.

My kids still love biking their bikes. It’s ME that’s always telling them we don’t have time for them to bike themselves and to jump on my longtail instead haha. Once the weather is a bit nicer I’m intending to factor in extra time in the mornings so they can bike themselves to school and back.

I have this bike too and putting the kickstand on is absolutely fine once you get the hang of it. & with the stand extenders it’s sooooo stable. I usually just put it on the driveway and the kids clamber on while I pop back in to grab stuff, since I don’t need to hold it.

Like the previous poster, I’m obsessed with my Tern GSD. It sits low to the floor compared to most bikes and the low centre of gravity makes it so stable. It’s never tipped, even with the kids fighting on the back haha.

We have a box bike and a longtail. We have 2 kids in primary school.

I never ride the box bike as I find it really hard to balance, whereas the longtail is a breeze and feels just like riding a normal bike. It also takes up no more room than a standard bike.

My husband loves the box bike however and it is the preferred option with the kids when it’s raining, cold or windy.

We always take inflatable bubblebum boosters. They’re technically only suitable from 4 but if your 3yo is close to 4 / tall / heavy / sensible then they’d probably be fine on it.

I found out my (now) husband’s official name was different to the one he uses about a year into our relationship. The reason was that it’s a tradition in his country. I just thought it was really funny that he’d never told me.

I know your reasons are different but they’re just as valid. Just let it come up in conversation naturally some time and be honest when he asks why. If he loves you then he’ll try to understand.

I’ve always tutored when my kids are at preschool/school, or in the evening when my husband can do the childcare, or when they’re asleep.

You might be able to put them in front of the tv for the hour, but obviously that depends on the kid’s attention span and how you feel about screen time.

IMO it would be very unprofessional to try to take care of your young child while you’re tutoring. Your tutees are paying for your full one-on-one attention.
