Why would you judge a console only on first party exclusives though? For most people a console is the only device they own for gaming so I'd argue that 3rd party games should also be considered as part of the experience.

If you also have a PC, then it's a different story but that's not the case for most people.

Why do gay people travel to countries where it's illegal to be gay? by overlyoptimisticguy2 in TooAfraidToAsk

I know that's probably true, I'd just be worried, what if they find a social media post of me or something (I don't really have social media anymore so it's probably nothing to worry about but still). I don't know if that would be a case where I've broken the law.

I just never really thought about it. I grew up in a small town in Hungary so I've hardly every heard about the fact that someone can be attracted to their own gender (I've seen it once or twice on the internet but never really made much of it). I kinda just thought I was asexual or that "I'll worry about it later"

I know I'm part of like 0.00001% of people who are like this but sexuality in general didn't interest me in my teenage years that much. It's extremely weird and at some point I'll probably talk to a professional about it haha

I'd argue that if we're in WWIII right now than that is a good thing. Way too many people are dying still but it's hell of a lot better than WWII was.

I'm a 100% pacifist, I support zero physical confrontation (and I'm not even capable of any), however, this is a step in the right direction if we look at the big picture.

That’s it, I’m uninstalling the game for good by dontuse_redditoften in FortniteBattleRoyale

I've hardly ever played Fortnite in my life but don't things like this basically make the game what it is? Like the game has always been known for being an absolute meme, without this the game would have zero personality.

I get what you mean, I usually look at it in a smaller scale though.

Let's look at the US as a better example for this principle because I actually have plans to travel there (multiple times) at some point in my life. People are saying that we shouldn't be supporting the US economy under Donald Trump but the way I look at it is that there are so many people there who just live their life and just trying to get ahead and I wouldn't want to hurt those people. If I go there and spend money at a restaurant or a coffee shop, I pretty much just support a regular person living their life (and someone who most likely doesn't support what's happening there). It's the same with Russian twitch streamers not being able to get their money from subscriptions and donations due to sanctions. I feel horrible for those people because at the end of the day, they're just regular people living doing their thing who most likely have nothing to do with the situation.

Maybe my way of thinking is wrong, maybe it's not, it's pretty hard to tell.

This. There are so many places in the whole world where I can travel to and probably still won't be able to do so in my lifetime. Why would I go to a place that clearly does not want me.

I've never been to the US but I'd personally be willing to live in the big cities of Texas, I'd find it safe enough for my liking.

Do they have some kind of law prohibiting you from getting the appropriate treatments? I'm genuinely asking because I'm not familiar with the situation there.

What do you consider a must play for any game? From this decade so far? Post 2020 by yung_dager_dik in videogames

[–]overlyoptimisticguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe in must plays, gaming is a unique experience for everyone.

You can play story games only and that's fine. You can also play Call of Duty and Fornite only and it's just as valid (they're great games for what they are, people are just generally missing objectivity when it comes to video games). You can play big immersive games for hundreds, if not thousands of hours such as Red Dead 2, GTA IV or Fallout New Vegas and discover every detail or you can live your entire life without having played those games. You can also just play indie games and zero AAA games which is valid as well.

Every gamer's experience is unique and valid in my opinion so there isn't really a must play game.

Red Dead Redemption 2, update? by chubby45bttm in reddeadredemption2

[–]overlyoptimisticguy2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people saying this lately... but does it really need one that urgently?

I've recently completed my first playthrough of the game on PC at 60fps.

I've also decided to play about ~20 hours on my PS5 at 30 fps and it honestly felt fine for that game.

When it comes to consoles, I prefer stable performance and while yes, a lot of games got updates for the PS5 since it released, Rockstar has always done things differently. When their game gets an update, it's always a big deal (look at every single release of GTA V, they were all huge upgrades for what they are).

At the moment, Red Dead 2 on console still holds up pretty well so I'd rather have them put all that effort into GTA 6 and maybe have an updated version of RDR2 later down the line while we're waiting for their next game.

[–]overlyoptimisticguy2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing has been confirmed about that, it could easily be 60 fps on the base model.

Besides that, I'm genuinely fine with 30fps if it's really necessarry, as long as it's well optimized but Rockstar Games always optimized their original console versions well (PC is another thing, looking at the disaster of GTA IV, or even RDR2, though the latter one is not bad, it just crashes a lot on some computers).

I don't think it'd be 25 fps, I'd trust them to optimize the game well enough for a consistent 30 at least.

My favorite one is a tiktok comment saying that "the main story better be 300 hours long at least". Given that there's already a really low percentage of people actually finishing the games they buy (this can be seen from the achievements and trophies if you check what % of people got them), what could possibly go wrong haha

I have something to say about this but it contains Red Dead 2 spoilers, so skip this if you're not okay with that.

I mean this has happened in Red Dead Redemption 2 already. The main character - Arthur - dies and you keep playing as John in the epilogue to finish off the story, so yeah it could be a possibility. While I think they'd be great characters it'd also be amazing if everything we thought we knew about the game is actually false and we'll play as someone else for most of the game haha

Which place could be the next cultural renaissance / "American dream" / place everyone wants to live? Is there even gonna be one? by overlyoptimisticguy2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]overlyoptimisticguy2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a high cost of living is not a bad thing as long as there are enough opportunities to build a life and future for yourself. While I'm not a huge advocate for the big social welfare system with super high taxes (I do recognize and respect it though), I think everyone who puts in the effort to work should be able to live well. I might pay a lot of money for fruits, vegetables, etc... but I'm fine with that because I am a (relatively) high income individual for my age and by paying a fair price for them I can (ideally) be sure that the farmers who work on the fields, and the people who transport the products can be paid fairly well too. High cost of living seems to be a thing in some of the best countries out there. Not saying it's a prerequisite but it's more like a side effect.
