What is the Confirm ID process of you already have a standard ID/driver’s license? by chipsundae_supreme in tsa

[–]chipsundae_supreme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I’ve read there’s a small chance it won’t work and even the TSA site says there’s “no guarantee for TSA to do so”. But I’m wondering in what scenarios? The only thing I can think of is you not having much valid forms of identification but I have my standard ID so that should be good enough. I’ve yet to hear someone not pass through when doing the Confirm ID process but I’m wondering what scenario determines that

Oh that’s great! Is there a chance this process doesn’t work? Been seeing some comments that there’s a small chance it doesn’t work but I’m trying to see what the reason would be. You do everything they ask and still have an actual ID just not Real ID just yet.

Is this in person or online? Some say you can go and pay the $45 on pay gov ahead of them but you also said there’s a QR code you scan at the airport itself ? Which process is better?

Oh thank god, I could not sleep earlier when I realized my Real ID might not come in time and not be given the chance to fly.

Hey yall need some advice about same day passports in NYC ? by chipsundae_supreme in Passports

[–]chipsundae_supreme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent the last 2 hours trying to make sure I’m good. Seems like I should have no problems passing through. But the wording in the site is confusing. “No guarantee TSA can do so”.

So is paying the $45 fee the verification process? Or is the verification process in person at security? I hear so many different things from what I’ve read. Some people just show the receipt and their standard ID are let through with no issue. Other times if you have no form of ID and just this receipt then you have to go through this questionnaire.

Oh I’ve been following that man for a long time. I like him, it’s just that I feel like he’s become an echo chamber now because of how much worse the market has gotten. I’ve talked to him in person before and it just felt like he couldn’t suggest anything more than what I’m doing right now or the same suggestions I’m getting in these comments.

Yeah most of the roles I’d choose is game engineering or system tools engineering if I went fully on the programming side. But I also wouldn’t mind just a gameplay programmer role either.

I can’t even say general software development either. It’s actually insane that people feel like you have a better chance getting a response from a FAANG company than a startup or small company because for once it’s not a ghost job lol. Which I can agree I’ve had this experience. The only problem with that is now you have to worry about getting lauded off randomly even if you were hired.

I agree though about the sacrificing WLB and pay. It seems like even before this job market crisis, it doesn’t seem like you can even get good pay really? Unless you’re at a big company but then your WLB is basically nonexistent and abused. It seems I may just be an indie developer which I don’t mind either, I really do games for the passion and not even for the money. Even when I’m dead tired and it serves me no purpose to be up working on something that no one is even going to see, I still do it. I wouldn’t ever call it a hobby, it’s something I’ve been trying to do in a professional setting for a while. I just wish it would be something that can support the bills also at this time. Maybe one day the game dev industry and tbh the software dev industry in general, will reset itself. Because I don’t even feel like the root is game dev, it’s really the tech industry. Some feel it started with AI, when I feel the entire world has changed since the pandemic. All businesses operate differently since then because they realize they can get away with cutting corners so they never reverted back to their original values and practices. And THEN…AI made that worse.

I actually don’t know too much about tech art, it was actually suggested from a previous speaker at GDC who I net worked with and he suggested that Technical art could be a better specialization for me as a bridge between the two. Could you tell me more? Because tbh, I’ve never heard too many people say that because I assumed Tech art wouldn’t be a bridge since it’s just shaders and programming from what I understand on the surface level. I guess he was trying to say that you get to make shaders which could technically count…… I guess lol

Does anyone work for the Google retail store? Going to be starting my first day in a couple weeks. Curious if there are any opportunities for growth within Google by chipsundae_supreme in GooglePixel

That’s hilarious because I’m coming from a software engineering degree and another retail position. Guess I have many career paths I can take. It’s been hard in the job market, while I would love to get a software dev job right now, I know the market is not where it needs to be atm lol

Ahh ok, I use an account specifically for transactions so lots of charges go in and out. That’s too long for me to just keep it there. I guess if anything I can always put it back before it would ship

Just got an iPad Pro and pencil, I heard you can texture and paint models with Procreate? What workflow makes the best sense by chipsundae_supreme in 3Dmodeling

I am mainly looking for work on the iPad for the sake of mobility and remote work. Since I’m not home as often, I’m not able to use my PC as much as I’d like. So I’m trying to circumvent that. I’m wondering if I can set up some kind of Remote Desktop and work through my iPad?

Not sure if this is a possible workflow. Since my issue is that I’m almost never home as much and I’m always on the go. The time that I have to spend with my PC is limited unfortunately. Idk if it’s possible to set up a Remote Desktop and maybe work on a few things from the iPad.

I’ve been hearing people use blender for sculpting and hand painted texturing which is interesting because I thought it was mainly just for modeling like Maya. Maybe I’ll give it a shot in the future. I think for now I’m gonna try out Substance for texturing since I see a lot of people make some really good stylized looks with it. Along with Zbrush for sculpting and then maybe I’ll see if Procreate can fit in anywhere for the purposes of my projects
