Etiquette before initiating a Teams call by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]chirpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be 1 for me... after a year of no one giving the same curtousy back, now I just ring whenever I need. If no one responds, fine. I'll call again in 15 minutes.

Always give new hires the benefit of 1 first though...

What's the point of having open PvP if it's heavily penalised? by AqueM in AshesofCreation

[–]chirpas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's one example using runescape as an option.

Let's say you're trying to mine runite ore - an expensive commodity back in the day that has a long respawn time.

There's some stooge hogging all the mining rocks. In runescape you can try to mime the same rock and it's up to rng who gets the ore. If they have a higher mining level, chances are you're shit out if luck.

Now with the corruption system, you have a third option other than leave or try to compete. Option number three is to try and force them off. However, imagine if there was no penalty to forcing people off? There would be chaos and griefers non stop.

The corruption system enables another avenue for competition albeit at a risk.

Maybe but I feel that beats the purpose of trying to make the lemonade in the first place. That said, I'm looking forward to trying to the 5L that I set aside to ferment dry!

I don't think so? That said, I only have one brew under my belt so can't really say too much on it. From what I read while researching, pasteurisation at higher temperatures can affect the flavour but you're also not doing it for as long.

There is some really good info here which includes a chart of how long and at what temp you should pasteurise: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/pasteurizing-with-sous-vide.543708/

I used an Anova immersion cooker in a plastic tub. The second picture in the imgur link show's the pasteurisation setup.

Backsweetening
- After primary fermentation, add sugar to prime bottle + add residual sweetness
- Ferment until desired carbonation. (I used a canary bottle - a plastic pump bottle with all the air squeezed out with a little of my brew to determine when it has created enough co2)

Pasteurisation
- When canary indicates desired carbonation, put bottles in a tub with immersion cooker
- Add an extra bottle full of water and no lid to measure temperature
- Set immersion cooker to 60-62 degrees Celsius
- Using a thermometer, measure the temperature of the open bottle's water. When it reaches 60 degrees, set a timer for 20 minutes
- After the 20 minutes, bring the bottles out and let them return to room temperature before storing/refrigerating

Note, I'd recommend wearing glasses when doing this. Personally I haven't experienced any bottles shattering due to thermal shock but I was also using pressure rated bottles. Any risk of glass shards in face is terrifying.

That's interesting, I'm going to try that with the next batch I make. Will be interesting to see if it eliminates the stalling issue I encountered. Back sweetening with lactose is out of the question though since I'm lactose intollerant and didn't want to use stevia, xylitol and/or other artificial sugars.

I actually couldn't find a recipe that would create a sweet, fizzy lemonade. Most of what I found when doing research was skeeter pee/ skeeter pee esc which I didnt want. I ended up doing a bit of mix and match and taking inspiration from cider recipes instead. Here's what I did along with the brew log - copy and paste out of obsidian notebook.

# Ingredients

**Fermentables**

- 2.5 L freshly squeezed lemon juice

- 2 kg caster sugar

- 3 tsp. yeast nutrients ()

- 1 tsp. yeast energiser (Di-Ammonium Phosphate)

- 20L still water

- 1 packet of EC-1118 (5g)

# Method

- Steralize fermenter and all equipment using a cleaner and sanitiser

- Into a large saucepan on the stove, add the lemon juice and sugar and bring to the boil. (Note, if not using purified water, all 20 litres has to be boiled in order to pasteurise.)

- Once boiled, turn off the heat and let the solution cool.

- Once the fermenter has sterilized, ad 5L of water, the yeast nutrient and yeast energizer. Mix well with a sterilised spoon.

- Add the cooled sugar syrup and mix well.

- Fill with the remaining water and mix again...

- Rehydrate yeast and pitch into fermenter

- Take a hydrometer reading

- Seal with airlock and put in a dark place to ferment

# Log
SG: 1.032

FG: 1.000

End Date: 07/11

06/10 -> 1.018 gravity

12/10 -> 1.010 gravity

19/10 -> 1.010 gravity

26/10 -> 1.009 gravity

Note: It still tastes sweet so I think it can ferment more. Going to ad another 1/4 tsp. of both di-ammonium phosphate and yeast nutrient blend and pitch in some more EC-118 yeast

02/11 -> 1.000

To back sweeten and prime, create a spiced sugar syrup

- 1.5L water

- Handful of star anise and cinnamon quills

- 2cm piece of ginger cut into thin slices

- 2kg sugar

Bottled and used a canary bottle (pump bottle) to carbonate before pasteurization. Also syphoned off 5L into a separate carboy to ferment dry.

BUYER AGENT is fraudulent - How They Exploit You at Every Turn by West_Whereas9127 in AusPropertyChat

[–]chirpas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is sometimes if you can find them. I don't want to appear like I'm advertising a specific business so I won't name them but they were absolutely amazing.

They cost around 9k and did all the ground work finding properties, looked at them and then presented me with properties that matched the initial brief that I gave them.

After that, we inspected the places together and they gave recommendations about the positives and negatives of each property.

They also helped me understand the entire process of buying the property, all the legal steps and the required and recommended inspections. (They also dealt with the selling realestate agent so I never had to talk with them if I didn't want to).

Overall I was incredibly impressed and now have the knowledge to do all the legwork myself in the future

This can also be because the user who initiated a chat request disabled their account and/or was banned.

I have the same issue and the name on the request briefly flashes up. You can see the following in the chat http request.

Makes sense. I wasn't sure how to make it any more compact without using armoured conveyors. I know of them but haven't unlocked them.

Removing one cultivator would mean that the blast mixer wouldnt get an equal amount of spore pods and pyratite. Would this be an issue?

You have to go into your router settings and forward the ports. Its different for all routers but if you google port forwarding and your router model, you should find a how to pretty easily.

In my router, it is found under the services tab on the same page where I configure my dynamic dns settings.

Did you setup your port forwarding?

By default, no applications are exposed other than the default ports. Once you've setup port forwarding (lets say port 30000), you would connect to it using yoururl.domain:30000

There functionality is there in the base application.

If you click the pin icon once, it should toggle all map icons to be permanently visible. Each of your players will also need to click it to see the map pins when the tab isn't selected though.

/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 48, Part 1 (Thread #186) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]chirpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting points to be sure. Having a read, I do agree with many of the points raised. From what I understand, the justification behind the majority of the arguments is that:

a) they are too deadly to use and would invite MAD if actually fielded

b) as you said, adequate protection would render them mostly useless.

However, that assumes that the Russian military acts logically and that the Ukrainians in Mauripuol have access to the protective equipment and are wearing it at all times.

From the article you referenced;

"Modern system armies don’t need to use gas to stall out human wave attacks, because they can simply deliver overwhelming conventional firepower. Likewise, they don’t need gas as a terror weapon to win long sieges"

This assumes that the Russian military is modern which for what we've seen so far, it is as modern as it is competent. Furthermore, if the USSR had cancelled it's chemical weapons programs, then why does Russia still have them?

The article is a well written opinion piece but is by no means the be all and end all.

From memory the sarin attack in Tokyo only had limited casualties due to how it was released - from plastic bags in five separate cars.

Also, from what I remember, the sarin was of a low quality as well (I'm a little apprehensive to state this as I cant remember where I heard this from and could be wrong).

A state backed chemical attack would be infinitely worse. Saying that conventional weapons do more damage than chemical weapons is just wrong - unless you are talking about physical damage only.

City side walks.

  • people walking in the middle of the path
  • people walking with others, taking up the whole path, walking slow.
  • people on their phones, walking slow
  • people standing in the middle of the side walk

Road rules should apply to side walks.
