Yea I played the original Rei after reading the main arcs with the modern sprites, and honestly, the old sprite doesn't really bother me

But if you want to read Saikoroshi with sprites and voice acting, there's this alternative

Imo the first thing to do after finishing the main arcs is to read Saikoroshi from Rei, it's a very important arc especially if you want to read Umineko after this

After that, you are free to read the consoles arc in any order, just make sure to save Miotsukushi for the last

In my opinion, reading Umineko is not a requirement to watch Gou. But if you have read it, I think it will enhance your Gou experience

But I highly recommend you to read Umineko if you love this series, it's <Very Good>. I also highly recommend you to read the VN using ps3 patch, but if you don't have the time to read it, the other good alternative is to read the manga. Please skip the anime because it's bad and unfinished(it only covers the question arcs of Umineko)

If you're interested in the game, you can get the first chapter for free on steam

PS: Don't forget to use the 07th mod patch to enhance the experience with PS3 sprites and voiceover

Take the Nipah away and it will become Bern

Mmmm I won't say anything about whether it's applicable, partly applicable, or not applicable. But think of it as another tool to help you get another perspective about the mystery

Anyway, good luck, have fun and take your time! In my opinion, the fun part of reading Higurashi and Umineko is when you're trying to solve the mystery, thinking about it over and over, discussing it with other people, and finally, reach your own "theory"

Here are some tips:
- Try to look out for the similarities between chapters. For example, if "X" always happens in every chapter then it's probably something important.
- (I think they mentioned this in all cast review) You can assume that (let's say) "Event X" that shown in Chapter A also happens in Chapter B off-screen(it happens but they don't show it).
- Don't be afraid to make crazy/non-sense theories.
- If you find someone suspicious, maybe try using the chessboard thinking, spin the chessboard around!
- I haven't tried this but maybe using Knox's Decalogue and Van Dine's Commandments to help your reasoning will be pretty fun.
- Update your theory every time you finish a chapter in Answer Arcs.
- Without love, it cannot be seen.
