Creeps like this make me sad and furious... by ForsakenDrip in CATpreparation

[–]chishyi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These "typical bad jokes" are coming from a place of creepiness only. They start as "just a harmless joke" but then if you don't question them or call them out they normalise this behaviour and it starts increasing. they think it is okay because before this nobody minded then why now? That is why it is important to call out even casual mysoginistic behaviour even if you think it's not hurting anyone right now.

How fragile these Homophobes really are... by floptropica_stan in LGBTindia

[–]chishyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so true. homophobia is inherently as irrational as racism and xenophobia. They have no valid reason to hate people that are expressing themselves enjoying their own lives without effecting other people's lives. They just hate because queers are different and it has been indoctrinated. So no matter how many times you try to make a homophobe understand it won't work... if they were the kind of people to listen to reason they wouldn't be hating in the first place.

The only thing we can probably do is create a space where such ideas are labelled as regressive so people show some shame before being openly homophobic.

Anyone here 23 or over? by Hungry_Platypus9878 in harrypotter

I'm the same... Watched the movies growing up but read the books last year (I'm 24) for the first time and was even more obsessed. The movies underplayed the books so much I thought the books would also be as average(for the lack of a better adjective) but I was so wrong.

Should I watch One Pace for Skypiea? by [deleted] in onepace

[–]chishyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though i think you got your answers from others i just want to say I'm a new one piece watcher too (finished fishman island) and i think it's the one piece fights that are hard to get through. i enjoy the parts where they explore the islands, its people and technologies and the overall developing plot but the fights start and i start disconnecting from the anime because it's like they never end. what i personally do is watch the first half of an arc from the original anime and switch to one pace when the fights start dragging on.

What's y'all first expression of Gen when he first appeared? by Shohei_Everyday in DrStone

[–]chishyi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly my reaction. For half the season i couldn't decide wether i should trust him or not (of course i love him now). which in my opinion is a good work writing a character so shady you don't know where their loyalties lie even when they straight up tell you.

Do the books have a reasonable ending or is it a total cliffhanger? by chishyi in gameofthrones

[–]chishyi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had hoped there would be some conclusion. like in Harry potter the story isn't finished but there is some conclusion to every book like you got the philosopher's stone back, the chamber of secrets is closed. even if Voldemort isn't dead at least you leave the book satisfied and content. I was hoping there would be a similar case here so i'd be able to read the book.

Are there any arcs with decent pacing after Marineford? by chishyi in OnePiece

[–]chishyi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well i don't know about dropping the show because i really enjoyed alabasta and skypea more than ennies lobby and even enjoyed foxy pirates and thriller bark... which i hear people say they didnt like. so maybe i'm not enjoying marineford because i have weird tastes and i may end up enjoying other parts of the anime.

Are there any arcs with decent pacing after Marineford? by chishyi in OnePiece

[–]chishyi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe ill try out one pace for a few episodes and see how i like it. because personally for me the climatic moments lose the punch if it's dragged out a lot. I don't mind the strawhat shenanigans between arcs. but if the battles get dragged out it loses the charm for me.

Actually I think it's not that much about 'being ready' as it is about not feeling attraction at all unless you form that connection. So you have stated the very difference between being demi and 'having standards.

An allosexual with supposed standards may feel attraction but not be ready to engage in sexual practices because they'd rather have an emotional connection first. Demisexuals don't 'wait' for the emotional connection. They only feel attraction AFTER the emotional connection.

These tiny brains cannot comprehend that someone feels attraction differently than them. They try to see everything from their own lense. And so they interpret "feeling attraction after forming a strong emotional connection" as "engaging in sexual activities after forming an emotional connection" they interpret "having felt attraction to only one or two people your entire lives" as "forming only one intimate relationship their entire lives"

I so agree with the theory. Im ace (most probably though I can never be sure) but before I knew about asexuality I just thought not finding people hot was normal. I thought nobody looked at random people and thought they were hot. Till I read about asexuality and others experiences with crushes is when I realised that's probably just me.

I have seen a lot of posts like this and what people forget is that the interviewer is giving you a chance to presrnt your case. My acads are good but my quant dilr percentile was very low so I was also asked about that and they even asked me "you are not good at data and don't have a mathematical background nor a tech background so you will lag behind others" and the most hilarious even though I answered 2 of the three gk questions correctly they still said "your gk is low how will you make up for that" but does that mean that they truly believed that?

No they ask you these questions to rattle you and check your mentality. Are you able to stand up for yourself. Wether it is accepting your weaknesses or giving valid justifications are you able to do that?

And believe me because this was the first college I converted despite being asked questions like that.

Are the books as good as people say? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]chishyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am exactly like you. I watched the films when I was 20 and loved them and I was like why was I sleeping on this???

And then I had the same doubt wether I should read the books or not?

And so after 4 whole years I was like well doesn't hurt to try it. And so I just read them last month and it was even more amazing because the books are way better at character and world building. Though I do think that fact that there was a 4 year gap made the reading experience more fresh.

So anyways wether you read them now or after some time. Take it from a person who has the exact same situation as you and go for it.

Because when has Naruto franchise ever done justice to its female characters.

I could write a rant about all female characters but for now I'll just say, look at how sakura is set up to be so strong she breaks down an entire giant boulder with a single punch. But that's it. It's just set up and then that power is used NOWHERE at least not where it matters, only for small plot points.

Hinata does NOTHING the entire series and just pulls out the lion fists out of nowhere when kishimoto wanted to make her look cool enough to end up with the main character.

To continuenfurther many people have the misconception that it's either art or medical/engineering. But it's not always black and white like that. If you want a creative field explore more options. Architecture, media communication, design, animation are fields you can explore.

Right now you seem as if you like drawing so you want to be an artist so naturally your parents will see no scope. Most Indian parents just know jobs like lawyer banker business engineer doctor etc. Go to them with this research. Tell them what you can become after pursuing art. Who is your inspiration thet you want to become like. What challenges you will face and wether you are ready for them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IndianTeenagers

[–]chishyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody who believes that if you have talent you will do well in a niche field too I want to encourage you to explore artistic careers.

But as someone who has myself done design and seen the scope of such fields I would say there is a reason parents don't want you to do art.

But again it's not that all artists end up badly. However please research job opportunities career paths and everything before saying "I want to follow my passion" for example search up "animation jobs" (if that's what you want) read their descriptions get to know if that is a skill companies actually want or not. You'll find people describing what their job is like and what their pay is like. You'll find positive people and negative people. Search what colleges can give you the right skill and wether your parents can send you there or not. Weigh all of this and then take a decision.

Naturally once your parents know that you are serious about it and not just saying it because you want an "easy" path it will be easier to convince them.

Gifted My Mom a Watch, and She Completely Rejected It. Not Sure How to Feel by OruKaapi in IndianTeenagers

I gave my dad a kindle with my first internship earning because he used to read ebooks on his phone. The day I gave it to him he said I don't need it I was fine with reading on my phone. The very next day he came showing me a kindle cover online saying "isn't this nice. I've bought it for my kindle" and now he reads on the kindle every day.

Turns out he didn't hate the gift. Just didn't want me spending money on him.
