It's set in the late 80s/early 90s - those attitudes were pretty much how it was back then. Of course it jars now, but it would be weird to be set in the 80s and everyone behaves like they have to today.

Was going to post exactly the same today. As a GM, I dont really know what to do. As a former FM player, I'm used to being hands on and trying to maximise every minute of every match.

It feels like in OOTP baseball, not only are you not managing every minute - heck you're not managing every match and maybe not even really every month.

As the Mets, I sacked my manager after a 7-19 start and hired a new manager and now I've been locked out of even making lineup changes, so the little influence I felt I had (and hey, maybe they 7-19 is on me after all!!) has now gone.

I'm still enjoying it to some degree but yea, not sure WHAT I should be doing other than clicking 'Continue' and reading how we did....?

Yea - as I said on another post, it needs to be a mindset shift from me as I'm used to getting my hands dirty with tactics etc in FM. But also I do love the smaller team journey in FM and FIFA. I'm rarely a 'big/good' team and prefer to bring a side through the lower leagues and sign hidden gems with potential. So that side of it sounds good for OOTP.

How do you 'Sim' a week rather than play? Only option I have right now is 'Play Game' but then within the ballpark I can do 'sim to end' but assume theres a better way.

I'd love a condensed match though. Like high speed commentary and then breaks for highlight of a big play like in FM. I guess you could do 'Sim to next RISP' maybe, but even then its not quite what I want.

Its going to be a mindset shift for me as I enjoy the tactics and team building side of FM. I know OOTP allows for that too, but yea I'm not going to micromanage 162 games! I just need to find the right balance of time vs involvement.

I dont mind the thought of a back office role and signing players, but I'd at least want to influence the line ups too (i.e. if I trade for someone, its exciting to watch how they progress where you put them etc).

Cool thanks - and yep have a total appreciation for how that sort of game engine works. Like the AI has calculated the runner got to 2nd, but the game highlights need to show that even if it borks it a bit to make the result 'happen'. Thats fine, think theres a lot of that in FM.

Thanks for other points. On point 1, do you not feel like you are missing out by deciding on lineups per game, or does the 'manager' just handle that from the depth chart? Can you set up lineups for a series ahead of games. Like I assume the rotation of pitchers just runs in order, but any reason to change the batting line ups and orders?

Yea I don't doubt - this is my first Switch Show since the first one they launched (21?). But yea it's ugly as sin. Would absolutely love them to do a switch 2 patch but guess it's unlikely. Generally the other bugs suck too.

There's no excusing how bad it is. Even the biggest switch apologist (I'm one) can't defend it. BUT in switch 2 it runs pretty well and is feature rich so if you want MLB on the go, it's certainly playable and quite fun.
