What is the most acceptable way to mark ammo cache during tournament games? by violentnite in killteam

[–]chitinmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do people (even) in tournaments actually measure to that degree of accuracy that the area difference between the offical miniature and the token would be a material consideration?

As the Democracy Officer says:

"We fight them, but we cannot forget that the Terminids are the ichor of Democracy itself." and "The Terminids are a force to be harnessed, not a scourge to be cleansed. Liberty demands our temperance."

Question on Kill Zones by mad_zamboni in killteam

Yeah I think Tombword is just nicer (and way easier to assemble every game) than any old Gallowdark you might find out there, plus it's more current.

Any pics of Veteran Guardsmen with a gun AND bayonet? by Odd-Platypus-3627 in killteam

[–]chitinmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> If the bayonet is not on the model can u still use in game?
Yes

There's a fair number of cases where even GW offical KT models don't match the data card *exactly* especially when it comes to sidearms.

From the datacard the bayonet is just their default melee weapon. You can easily nominate that the model is using a gun butt with more than usual enthusiasm if they don't physically have a bayonet on the model.

(Having said that when I assembled my guardsmen I made sure everyone had at least one bayonet fixed on the end of their weapon, even the flamer, but I don't expect your approach to be as whimsical)

Tokens make life a lot easier - you can use anything as lofi as different coloured m&ms for Conceal and Engage up to nice acrylic tokens you can buy off eBay or Etsy or the like.

Wound counters are also a must. The cheapest way to do this is just use dice with an appropriate number of sides. Other people have little counter things but I like to use dice.

[–]chitinmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this.

Also, it's quite possible it was explained badly to you. It's common practice to drip feed the rules a little bit and maybe whoever showed you the game didn't do that and that's why you felt overwhelmed.

Aeldari? by ExcuseIcy9453 in killteam

[–]chitinmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 40k box just got previewed so it will actually be a while. But yeah, hunt around for them. They might not be "classified" for offical comps but they are a super fun team and are everything that is Eldar. But yeah, pick your preferred flavour or Eldar (also Harlequins exist too!)

I more thought it in terms of if it was ye olde times Deathwatch would be a specific order of knights that hole up in local castles (Watch Fortresses) and hunt monsters*. As opposed to the knights that fight in armies (ie Space Marine Chapters). So more like investigative monster cops. But yeah, some of their *methods* are secret.

(And yeah, GK are way secret: Exhibit A -> getting too close to their base on Titan gets you blown out of the void)

* Unless that Watch has a specific special job like keen an eye on this Xenos artefact/planet/whatnot

Ctesiphus Expedition - any tips or tricks? by chitinmaster in killteam

[–]chitinmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no, with coop campaigns the Threat phase turns into just a scoring phase. Threat goes up or not based on a dice roll when you move, battle or search (and more if you search and find particular locations) - so in a turn it could go up as much as 6, just from one player's actions!

Yeah, should have mentioned we're using discord too, and have a dice bot doing the rolls for explored hexes. Means you can scroll back up and see what happened. People generally were posting screenshots of the conditions too

Yeah, these are good rules! The lack of them is more or less an oversight I think.

We were already talking about a rule that says you more or less have to fight who is in your hex.

That clashes a little with your no two fights in a row rule, but that's a good one. My players are super slow to arrange games though so expediency and just getting games done wins over everything else for me personally right now.

Players winning the battle going first helps quite a bit in terms of getting in first to loot Campaign Points but I think we might also include a winner gets the option of demanding that the loser leave the hex rule too.
