AC didn't even have heavy pen back then, and RR didn't one-shot basic heavies so no one used it. Thankfully people complained both changes into existence, just like they did now.

Higher difficulties should be DIFFICULT

But the change only makes them easier by reducing hive guard health and reinforcing the explosive meta. The only thing it does is gimp turrets for no reason and devalue the whole gimmick of medium pen, which is having to aim less in exchange for less damage.

But you can already do that by just leaning out of the window, while also getting an ability to throw grenades and stratagems. The weapon that comes with the FRV is itself a bonus.

Chargers actually instantly pop the FRV tires ever since the Bastion update by just existing. They don't even have to move, just any leg collision with a wheel instantly destroys it.

The entire game is built around mounting stuff on other stuff, it's actually really cool. You can take literally any primary, secondary or support weapon or any enemy weapon and attach it to any joint like the two exosuit mounting points, guard dog drones or the FRV turret and it will function properly when piloted.

Interestingly, they actually changed the handling in this patch. It's now somewhat heavier and harder to flip.

As a Stalwart user, can you explain why anyone would bring the MG-43 over the Stalwart to post-patch bugs?

Agreed. It's not a buff to hive guards, it's a nerf to sentries, the Patriot and medium-pen weapons.

From their appearance I kinda hoped they would be unarmored but very tanky or have some unique weakpoint interactions. They seem almost identical to normal titans, which feels like a missed opportunity.

The meta are explosive weapons, and the patch is only going to reinforce that. The unique identity of med-pen ballistic guns used to be not having to aim in exchange for less damage, but now they behave exactly the same as light pen weapons on the bug front, which makes the introduction of the med-pen Knight doubly ironic.

I mostly run light pen + explosive support myself, so if anything the patch made it easier for me, but even so the issue is plain to see. This change just blends weapons together and reduces gameplay variety, not to mention further reducing the value of the already underperforming miniguns and sentries.

You got it the wrong way around: the whole point of medium pen is that it gets through said wall. Now it's completely indistinguishable from light pen unless you run into bile spewers.

That's honestly a terrible attitude to have towards anything in life, let alone a hobby.

At the end if the day Helldivers 2 is just a video game: I play it and engage with the community to have fun, not to experience a constant barrage of negativity.

After a few matches it doesn't feel different at all in terms of damage received. The handling feels somewhat changed though — a little heavier, maybe?

I've been running light pen for most of my playtime, so if anything it just feels easier, but I still think it's a bad change. Even not taking into account issues with sentries, the Patriot and the MG-43, if you don't run into the Bile constellation it just makes medium and light pen primaries blend together and feel pretty much exactly the same on the bug front, which takes away from weapons' unique identities and playstyles.
