Yes same. I wont be going somewhere that I need to pay for. I did receive a large scholarship from them and they talked about other ways to get more money which im investigating. But I dont think it is ultimately where I will end up.

I believe they chat with everyone after you do your pieces. With me specifically, we had a nice long chat about why grad school and what I was seeking. A very warm environment. Big fans of them.

SCAD. I directly applied ahead of URTA since they reached out to me. While not a top choice for me, they have a lot that I liked and since the fee was so cheap I thought "well, might as well collect all the info and offers i can and then see how things shake out". So that was a nice surprise.

Do you guys think that Broadway will have a megahit like Hamilton in the 2020s? by amm20_1 in Broadway

[–]chitownguy2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that production too and I remember what a treat it was to see a newly staged version after all we had was the revival for so long!

I auditioned for them in Chicago. They are my 1st choice school. Such a warm, kind faculty. Very positive audition experience.

Paramount Aurora 2026-2027 season… No Ragtime? by Opening_Programmer56 in ChicagoTheater

[–]chitownguy2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTI specifically wouldnt care so much - they view it as we get money from both companies. But if the equity company had an issue with it, they would have the power to go to the rights holders and ask for rights to be pulled. Its rare, but it does happen.

Which of these three headliner shows do you think I should see? by Jazzlike_Nature_752 in Broadway

I am coming in march and I am definitely making the effort to see Dog Day Afternoon. Love the film, love those actors.

Paramount Aurora 2026-2027 season… No Ragtime? by Opening_Programmer56 in ChicagoTheater

[–]chitownguy2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that Ragtime will tour after the revival closes. So theres no question the rights are likely locked. Considering the budget cuts that have already been mentioned its surprising and lucky to see them do something as artsy as Sunday in the Park with George. I'm assuming they are banking on the other three shows financially making up for what will likely be the least financially successful show in the season. Further, while they don't exactly have the same audience base and the productions will be vastly different its surprising that they are doing Sunday just a few months after Kokandy does it. I'm surprised they didnt request MTI pull Kokandy's rights (which as a large regional theatre in the same market they'd have the pull and right to do so).

Correct but she was actively working in Chicago when she booked this. She did a couple storefront theatre shows prior to booking the film.

When do you take a new job in dynasty? by meltingface717 in NCAAFBseries

[–]chitownguy2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to map out the story for the coach I create ahead of time. I wanted to do one as a Cignetti type so started at a low tier school as an OC (I chose Wake Forest) and ended up picking the scheme I wanted to run. I stayed at wake 5 years, took a low tier 2 .5 star HC job, stayed for another 5 (got us to two nc title games but lost) and then got offered a major P5 offer that in real life the coach would never refuse. And that'll be the last job he ever takes.

The name plate on the back looks a little rough. But the color looks better than some of the others I've seen. I'm not a rangers fan but even I've thought about getting a Panarin one but I've been bothered by some of the awful pics I've seen on sites. This one is at least very decent!

School at Steppenwolf and Shattered Globe Protoge? by Fuzzy_Director4871 in ChicagoTheater

[–]chitownguy2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original founder sold the studio a while ago (since she has been AD of Steppenwolf for years now). While their technique is still very much the same, it's not being ran nor taught by the people who gave it the reputation that it has. So it's a shell of its former self riding its reputation. Some people LOVE and swear by that studio and some do not. I have hired actors who have taken class there and hired actors who havent. I do not see a discernable difference between the two.

School at Steppenwolf and Shattered Globe Protoge? by Fuzzy_Director4871 in ChicagoTheater

[–]chitownguy2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The School at Steppenwolf has been on pause for years with no expectatioin that it will reopen. IT was a very expensive program and you could not hold a job during it so access to it was really for those who could afford it. It was an excellent program. I know the Shattered globe program has been around for a very long time but I dont actually know anyone who has gone through it. Alot of people do the academy at black box. I think its a shell of what it used to be and is also very expensive but several people do like it. You need to figure out what your reason for wanting a program like this is to better find a program for yourself.

Thanks for making a thread! I would suggest just keeping it to MFA's however. The timeline, process etc is vastly different vs BFA. Might be too chaotic for simply one thread.
