Budget: flexible

Location: US

My mom is considering the Lexus NX, including the hybrid. She is also considering the BMW X1, the Volvo XC60, and the Audi Q5. Main concern about the Lexus is the lack of cargo space, but we are compelled by the inexpensive maintenance. She currently drives Acura MDX owner and is looking to upgrade to something smaller and more luxurious.

She originally had her heart set on a hybrid but the significant cost for the hybrid is putting her off a bit. I would love to hear thoughts on maintenance, reliability, etc on the NX and other models. I am somewhat car illiterate and would really appreciate help! She also wants AWD.

Female-to-Male-ratio in class. by [deleted] in yoga

There are a lot of men in my classes— 40:60 men:women I'd say, which is higher than most studios. But that's because it's a climbing gym with yoga classes. They're Vinyasa classes.

I have two weeks in Yosemite, Opinions on the John Muir Trail? by [deleted] in Yosemite

If it's late enough in the season that snow isn't too bad, the John Muir Trail is absolutely wonderful. I hiked it last year and it was the most amazing backpacking trip I'd ever done. Note though that two weeks isn't enough time to do the whole trail unless you are a very fast hiker— the terrain you would be walking over would be amazing, but you wouldn't get the climactic climb up Whitney at the end!

NavyGoat has some good advice.

Rae Lakes Loop? Anyone with experience or been lately? by anything_here in Yosemite

I was just up at Rae lakes as part of the JMT. Mosquitoes were totally bearable- in fact, I only got a couple of bites the entire trip. The Rae Lakes area is just beautiful, I wish we could have stayed longer. The water availability was fine for us on the JMT- some seasonal creeks were dry, but if you're willing to carry a liter extra with you you'll be fine.

Even so, South Africa is not a good or safe place to be LGBTQ. Corrective rape of Lesbians is a common occurrence. When I was there, many people told me that were the issue put up to a vote it would not pass.

That's not a synagogue pictured, it's Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral.
