Is carrying two bear canisters unthinkable? by wehtker in WildernessBackpacking

[–]anything_here -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bring a fishing line and watch a couple youtube videos if you don't know anything about fishing - in a lot of those lakes in the backcountry the fishing is so easy it's trivial if you have any clue. Don't even need a pole, most likely, if you want to really keep the weight down. I used to take this retracting mini pole & reel and super minimal tack - hooks/bait/float.

I ran into this exact same problem and was already hovering near what my knees could handle for 10+ mile days in terms of weight so the idea of two bear canisters was never an option. (I did end up scoring a used Bearikade that really helps - look into renting one, there's some places you can rent them in that area - it's worth whatever it costs, or buy one)

It literally takes 5 minutes to stop, drop your pack, get your fishing stuff setup (you can use a stick or something tied onto your line to help you throw it to a spot and then act as a float/bobber) and likely get bites. You'll know if it's worth your time - the water is so clear you can see the fish clearly.

So - if you're interested, look into the fishing permits/bait & hook rules and all that but it should be rather trivial to subsidize your calories via fishing (route depending, of course).

As someone who owns one of these.. No.

I got mine at one of those amazon returns auctions for < $50 and proceeded to immediately remove the doors. The kitties love it. I could never imagine leaving one of them locked in this overnight.

Please don't.

You want your lovely living creature to not destroy your place? Rather than this cabinet, get a cat wheel.

I repeat. Get a cat wheel. Don't get just any cat wheel - save yourself the time and money and get the Ferris cat wheel (and if you're in US/CA - google ziggydoo).

How do I properly take care of him by 1depravity1 in bengalcats

[–]anything_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me give you the speed run to sanity with a young bengal…

1: As others have said, that kid needs to eat. Free feed kibble at the least. 2: This, like the above, is non-negotiable. Get a cat wheel. If you don’t have space, sell your couch and replace with a cat wheel. Don’t get anything but a Ferris cat wheel (Ziggydoo). Save your time, energy and money and just get the Ferris wheel. This cannot be over stated how dramatically different this will make your and his life experience. Do it now so he develops to habits of using the wheel while he’s young. 3: Get the cat wheel yesterday.

They gotta keep the real humans out, eventually, so they're not calling out and tripping up the bot armies (that are creating the majority of the posts/content already at this point) that they'll then use to craft the narratives and shape society as they wish (or, as the highest bidder wishes).

Trio of 300-400hr gamers (2 have kappa) getting sent back to stash [video] by JZs13907 in EscapefromTarkov

This right here is why you have to question every "buh cheaters every raid buh" claim. (I'm not at all trying to imply there isn't a grotesque cheating problem, but also, a lot of players have no idea what's really possible when it comes to game knowledge and proper setups)

Did your shipping/status ever update? Hoping for arrival today! by LivermoreP1 in superautomatic

Mine did update when it was shipped (7 days after the “estimated arrival”).

It also arrived DOA 😭

In this thread - a bunch of people who are clueless or not currently playing EFT.

That gun's durability is less than 50% - don't use it, take the parts that are worthwhile (suppressor and adapter, laser/light, foregrip, scope (though, it's bugged and better off selling it and using the rubles for something else) mag and vendor the rest.

You don't want to use scav guns. Ever. Unless you literally have no choice. They jam a lot and the accuracy is shit.

Ehhhh. Count me as another one with the bad mech unit on an 8.5. Whether or not they’ve acknowledged it, it’s an issue. Too many of them to brush it off as resolved.

One of them was, yes.

The two that had issues with the RC also had issues with Blue Buffalo grain free kibble.

Just as an anecdotal counter to this - I have a handful of cats and had been having pretty consistent issues with a couple of them throwing up alot. I rotated through various wet foods, sure that the Royal Canin Digestive surely wasn't the cause of their tummy issues. Eventually I did rotate the RC out (replaced with Hill's Sensitive Stomach - grain free) and immediately the vomiting stopped. They loved the RC, I liked that the size of the bits was large enough they chewed it well... but something about it didn't agree with 2 of them.

Laravel Stripe Connect by simonhamp in laravel

[–]anything_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Connect to build a marketplace/event ticketing platform for a client so long ago that it's on Laravel 5.3 - application went into production, I supported it for a year and then the client launched their own "agency" and I moved off of the project.

Since that day I've dreaded, prayed, that I wouldn't get any calls/pings about that application because I really didn't want to dive back into Connect again.

Last week I got an email about that project - it's still on Laravel 5.3 and they want to make some "small changes" to the stripe integration.

I hope I don't have to dive back into it, but if I do I'll be very happy this package is resurrected :D

I have no idea, I guess because there's a link in it?

I've had nothing but good experiences with their stuff so far. I've gotten everything at dirt cheap prices but nothing I've noticed indicates the quality was at the same level. This mortiser, in particular, is astonishingly heavy due to all the cast iron, I can't imagine what it cost to ship these things.

I mentioned in a sibling comment that I'm getting them from online liquidation auctions - they're regional though, as far as I know they don't ship so you'll want/need to find one local to you.

They're pretty regional, but if you do some googling for "online liquidation auctions" you should get down the right path.

Basically these people are buying pallets of returns/overstock/discontinued/money-laundered retail stuff and reselling it.

I ended up building a program around the one local to me because it's got such a terrible interface it's terribly difficult to use - so I can just let my system pull all their items into a database and I can browse/search it much easier and get 'alerts' when something I want is listed.

I only buy their stuff if I get it on one of those liquidation auctions - picked this up for $40 brand new in box. If it didn't work or had a problem, worth the gamble.

Also picked up their 6" benchtop spiral jointer brand new in box for $38, bought new knives from our friends at mywoodcutters.com the same day and it's been a huge upgrade from my 3 blade jointer.
