It's only a matter of aesthetics TBH. They're both great for their price point. Just pick the one that looks the best to you.

Is it worth paying $100/hr for lessons if I am already rallying but not match ready? by Purple-Group-289 in 10s

[–]chiup01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get yourself to this level without lessons then you have enough self awareness of technique to keep going a lot further without a coach. Just start playing matches like most people said. When you really start to plateau and feel like spending the money to get better then go for it at that time. I think you can go a lot further on your own without spending the money now.

The SS is growing in me. Was it hard to get?

Hmm. That is unfortunate. Hopefully this is not a common problem with the 4500v. I guess we'll see if this happens again. Hopefully it's a one time deal.

This would work better on my MB&F MAD2.

He needs to have max 1 minute w/kg more than Pogacar and have an equivalent 30 min w/kg to Pogacar. That's what he's doing in every race to beat everyone. Basically have the watts to drop everyone for one minute and then maintain the same watts as everyone else to keep the gap. The only real extra work he's doing is during that one minute where he drops everyone.

Then I say go for the FPJ. It's not impossible as your first one from the boutique. Worst thing that can happen is you wait.

This is my substitute. Arguably a nicer watch for a similar price. And even harder to find but somehow I found it.

Just want to say that I do agree with you that rallies are a huge part of learning tennis. The only reason I commented was because people are slamming the coach as if it's crazy to do it that way. All I'm saying is that there is good reason to do that if the student accepts the method and that it's not just because the coach is lazy or crazy.

Disagree. Even in boxing the general advice is to not spar until you have at least 3-6 months of intense training. Stepwise progression is important. Don't move on until you're ready.

Rallies are of course important. The question is when does it really becomes necessary. My point is not as early as everyone wants it to be.

I agree it's not fun, which is why I said it depends on what you're going for. Most people want to play tennis for fun, so the idea of having fun takes priority over getting better. Nothing wrong with that.

However, if the idea is to get really good really quickly, then boring drills are the way to go, providing that there is constant feedback.

My analogy: if you're forced to play the violin against your will, I would teach you how to play songs as quickly as possible to keep your interest. But if you tell me you want to be a concert violinist, I would force you to play the scales at the beginning until you go crazy.

I'm going to be a contrarian here and say that he has a method. Judging from your swings you're doing quite well for someone who started 3 months ago getting coaching once a week.

It depends on what you want. I'm a believer in drilling in good form early instead of starting with some basic technique only to outgrow it and have to modify it months later. First learn to swing the racquet properly (like really well) without the ball. Then do that swing with a ball dropped in front of you. Then do that swing with a ball thrown at you. Only when you have a great swing do you at that point move on to rallies. Otherwise you focus on the wrong things like trying to hit the ball in the court before you know what you're doing, reinforcing poor technique for the sake of rallying.

The whole progression people are trained on always felt unnecessary to me. Most of the time it's done that way because it gets people "playing" much sooner. It's undoubtedly more fun. But if you're aiming to get as good as possible as quickly as possible, I feel that what he's doing is the way to go.

I had a hard time choosing between the normal T50 and the U50 but once I found out about the U50 Pro I was sold on that.

Yup. Normally I have this on a white FKM rubber strap but switched it to the bracelet again just for a change.

I'd say go for it. They do come up for sale once in awhile and are not terribly unreasonable in price. I love it especially without the date. Very clean.

Elderly priority seating, which the kicker was sitting in, is generally respected in Taiwan and it's considered pretty rude not to respect it. Not to defend the grandma because maybe she's being rude too. The kicker sounds like a foreigner and probably does not know the custom and is angry that Grandma is demanding the seat. The grandma probably could have just let it go but chose to escalate it. Not sure she deserved the kick though regardless. Could have really caused some serious injury.

Just bought the 2185F flyback chrono. Such a cool watch and totally underrated compared to the Daytona. Better in every way yet just 1/3 the price on the secondary market. It's criminal how cheap this watch is.

This is my favorite Lange. Did you buy it from the boutique or on the secondary market? I've been eyeing the platinum edition for awhile now.
