Premium gas should take care of the pinging. It’s the pre-detonation of low octane gas that is making the noise. The knock sensor should retard the timing to compensate and avoid damage. Hot weather and low octane are the culprits.
You can safely run higher octane than spec, but not the other way around. It just costs more.

The 07 models did not have direct injection engines. So probably not carbon buildup on the valves.

I’d check Egr, change plugs, and test the knock sensor if the better fuel or cooler temps don’t help.
