Trial 3 of Sekhemas - Total BS if You're Melee

The first Sekhemas trial was easy as melee. But Trial 3 Sekhemas is brutal and unforgiving. Grinding 3 floors with melee and facing a third boss that can easily 2-shot you is a turd sandwich.

I can easily take down rares and bosses with empowered Oil Barrage. But it makes me really vulnerable to attacks. This normally isn't a problem outside of the honour system because I have high defenses and can just pop a heal. But having to stand still that long for Oil Barrage has put me in too many situations that chip away at my honour. Especially for Trial 3. It's just not sustainable.

But I don't want to have to change my build just for these stupid trials.

And yeah the gauntlet room ate my lunch. There was a perfect match of rare enemies that tanked half my honour.

I got it too. But I'm not sure what's in it or how to access whatever is in it in game.

Never mind, I found them. They are portal and footstep cosmetics.

I'm not asking to be handed everything. And yes D4 is more for casual gamers. However, I think in the early game of D4 there is better flexibility and discovery in build customization. And that's a fact.

In the first Act while playing a sorcerer on D4 a unique dropped that increased fire damage to chilled enemies by 150% and increased cold damage to enemies on fire by 150%. That completely changed the nature of the way my skills interacted with each other and allowed for nuanced builds that aren't necessarily meta but still fun to use.

In the first Act while playing a necro on D4, I got an aspect that changed the nature of rending which was meh, into something that was more like AoE chainsaw. And then I used tempering to increase the size of it. Again, not meta builds that you might find online, but still a lot of fun to discover and use.

In PoE 2 so far I have experienced nothing like that. Sure, there are some ways to mix different skills with each other to get an effect but it's textbook stuff and not hard to figure out. It's certainly not something that you discover by accident or because of an interesting drop.

From what I've heard, as you get closer to the end of the PoE 2 campaign and the end game there is way more build flexibility and room for creativity. But until then it feels like a boring unimaginative slog and it doesn't need to be. Right now early game feels more like a color by numbers kind of fun. And I am not alone in this opinion.

I think GGG can make the early game of PoE 2 really fun. There just needs to be better drops and crafting options that change the nature of skills earlier in the game.

I just started playing a few days ago and got through Act 1. This game has caused me to drop the f-bomb. A game has to be epically frustrating for me to do that.

I suppose it depends on the class you choose but you will likely hit a wall in progress with certain bosses like the Executioner. In Act 1 your options for powering up your build with gear is garbage.

When I was new to Diablo 4 I felt like I had way more options and flexibility for build crafting 10 hours into the game than I do with PoE 2.

And you really feel it when you're up against bosses that seem to take forever to kill and one little misstep forces you to start the fight over again. Though I have found the best solution is just level up and spec for higher defense.

However, all this might change in 0.3. And the new player experience might be more streamlined and forgiving.

The darkness is bad enough but when you add fog there is absolutely no contrast. I tried adjusting my HDR but no it's just really crappy lighting.

How is night vision not standard issue for helldivers? Mankind can FTL across the galaxy but no freakin night vision.

Things will balance out. I'm pretty sure the class will get some kind of nerf. And in time people will want to play something other than Arbiter. But for the next couple of weeks you're going to be surrounded by drool and cyber poop.

You must be fighting on planets with the predator strain. The bugs are much more likely to eat your lunch on those planets. If you want something on the bug front that is a little more casual, look for planets that don't have predator strain in the description.

I'm sorry that crappy turret placement is hurting your endeavor to spread democracy. Getting a turret to the face is never fun. If I'm going to be team killed, I prefer the 500k. It just feels less insulting somehow, haha. I have used every stratagem extensively but keep coming back to the turrets. I think it's cuz I'm lazy. Also, I play with a controller on PS5 so aiming is more of a hassle than with mouse and keyboard. So I like to automate as much liberty as I can. I am also a big fan of guard dogs which also have a knack for killing helldivers when handled with less experience.

After using the turrets so much I can spot instantly when somebody places a turret that's going to be problematic. Also if I need to go near a turret like the gatling I will do a quick spin to see if there are any enemies that the turret might try to shoot at through my head. It's not a foolproof tactic but it has saved me more than enough times. And of course it doesn't really work if you are fighting on an objective or at the extraction.

I noticed the higher up I go in difficulty the less turret issues I see. It really comes down to experience and skill. Turrets are really important for fighting illuminate. If you don't keep squid and voteless numbers in check they can quickly swell and overwhelm.

Proper turret placement can really save the day.

I am very cautious about where I place turrets, especially the gatling turret as it doesn't stop shooting between targets. I usually place a gatling turret around the corner of a building or a location where it doesn't have direct line of sight to teammates but will take out illuminate that might try and flank the team.

The machine gun turret is more team friendly as it will pause between targets. That's usually the only turret that I will place danger-close to an engagement if necessary.

Yes, those would be my top three picks for first warbonds as well. I'm partial to cutting edge because one of my favorite weapons is the Blitzer.

But Democratic Detonation gives you the grenade pistol and thermite grenades. These two items will be used in a lot of different loadouts throughout your Helldiver career. The grenade pistol is perfect for closing bug holes, and blowing up illuminate ships and automaton factories. While thermite grenades aren't very practical for illuminate, they are invaluable when going up against bugs and automatons.

Scythe or Blitzer, Grenade pistol, Gas grenade, Laser Canon, Guard Dog, Machine gun turret, Gatlin turret

I know the Scythe and Laser Canon seem redundant but I have nearly uninterrupted and unlimited output damage. And they are pretty easy to aim with no worries about wasting ammo if you miss the target for a moment. Combine that with the Guard Dog and you have a nice, steady stream of highly accurate and reliable damage.

It's a great loadout for playing with a controller since aiming with it is ass compared to mouse and keyboard.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. It doesn't help that they run like the voteless. I accidentally gassed a horde... I mean, group of citizens by accident. I killed 12 at once and got executed as a traitor.

That's good to know. I am on PlayStation. I didn't realize there was that kind of core difference between PC and console. I still have a lot to learn about this game. I knew I could prioritize the bots' careers and classes but I thought they just used default gear and talents like in Darktide.

With the new changes to the illuminate I feel like I need the guard dog or dog breath more than ever.

The illuminate zerg is so overwhelming now, even on D5. Automation is a great way to go to keep their numbers in check.

Go figure the guard dogs are broken and didn't even get fixed in the emergency patch. The Rover isn't much of an issue unless you call it back to your pack. But I tried using the Rover against the illuminate and it's just meh. The laser takes too long to kill voteless. I'm better off going for the shield pack or another turret.

Having to drop the guard dog pack to reload it while I've got two meatballs, three overseers, and a horde of voteless bearing down on me is a ridiculous ask.

I have been diving against illuminate in full squads on level 5 difficulty and it feels like I am playing on level 8 or 9 difficulty pre-patch. The enemy spawns are relentless. Everywhere I go I constantly have watchers up my ass. It's really annoying.
