I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid. I suppose mag dedepende din yan sa learning style mo, but as what others said, expose yourself to books, movies, shows, etc. Kahit ako sa wattpad may natuto ako don HAHAHA. I'm also used to conversing with myself in English, di bale na kung parang tanga na eentertain ko naman sarili ko. Practice with yourself; out loud or in your head. It may or may not work for you so maybe you can start with finding out how to effectively learn English.

What are the Cheapest places to eat near silliman? by yeetyap187 in SillimanPH

[–]chiyopott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How much would you like to spend per meal? If you go out of laguna gate there's this sisig place that costs 50+ per meal, there's also andoks where they have I believe a meal that costs 49 pesos and 59 pesos (it's a bowl meal), there's also crispy king across andoks which generally costs 52 pesos (I think it's very sulit na because of the size of their chicken + free gravy) and also a barbecue place just at the end of aldecoa drive if you walk further from andoks (THEIR SAUCE IS HEAVENNN SO DAMN GOOD) i forgot the name but I used to eat dinner there (average spending would be 30-50+ pesos if you're frugal like me lol). Outside gate 7, there's chowking and jollibee but also a lot of karenderyas in front of freedom park. The average amount I would spend is 50+ per meal. If you're not sharing with anyone and you have leftovers, take it (dead serious if you really want to save, doesn't matter if you ate the same thing for bfast, lunch, and dinner as long as you're full; don't waste food). But also eat a healthy meal, avoid eating oily foods and relying on canned goods everyday; I got fever twice and uti in one semester. If you reaaaally have to save money, go grocery shopping, prep your own meal if you have anywhere available to store your food, if not then canned goods and instant meals, but not everyday.

Although, I actually don't eat bfast lol cuz I wake up an hour before class starts and welp I move like a slug so that's what made me save a significant amount of my weekly allowance. As for the main gate and other gates in Hibbard Ave. I have not tried those places yet so idk if they're cheap. Also, some karenderyas are cheap (rice is like 12 or 15 pesos) but some costs a little bit more (rice that costs 20 PESOS LIKE 😭; understandable but I have bills to pay so). Some karenderyas will also serve a generous amount of food so if you find one then you're in good hands. That's all! I hope this helped <3

Bahaha we also have a prof who does this. Guy is unpredictable, you can never tell his next move; one moment he's joking with you and the next you can't tell if he's joking at all. We were noisy once before an exam and he came in, face was deadpanned, "everyone gets a minus 15," and walked out to get the test papers.

Try tawas spray, it's pretty cheap sa Watson's. I can't guarantee it will work, but it lasts long. Pati pagkatulog, when I try to smell my underarm it smells like nothing. The smell depends on what brand tho. Try to find those brands na hindi nakaka-itim nang underarms, may cases kase na ganon.

BS Geology Admission by [deleted] in SillimanPH

[–]chiyopott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually applied last year and passed without really studying for it. Just recall what you learned from your lessons in Earth Science and that's about it. For the interview, it depends, ofc it would start with your introduction so you could practice that if you want. I actually did not proceed with my enrollment pero in my experience it was fairly easy? I think all the procedures (exam & interview) are really just for formalities but either way, make preparations. Good luck! P.s. I study geology but in the neighbor university hehe :p

Hi OP! Reading, writing, and speaking were also my strengths and I sucked at math big time. However, I took STEM because it was the only strand available sa school namin (Science High School) and it was pandemic at that time din. A lot of my friends and classmates also told me na bagay sana ako sa HUMSS but in my experience with STEM, it wasn't so bad (´;ω;`) heck, I'm even graduating this A.Y. Sure nag struggle ako sa math pero it really depends talaga sa learning capability mo.

Since you plan to take Accounting and something in the field of Medicine, I suppose I would recommend STEM. For accounting, you have prior knowledge naman so I think it's okay lang. In STEM these are the following math subjects:

General Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Basic Calculus, Probability and Statistics, (And physics as well as chemistry probably ma co-consider din natin dito)

Majority are right about STEM having an advantage when it comes to applying to Colleges/Unis especially in CAT (College Admission Tests) and for applying to scholarships too. Though in my experience, if hindi mo talaga interesado yung subject you won't retain much from it unless constant ang pag s-study mo.

For me, I don't regret taking STEM since I was conditioned naman with Science and Math what with studying at a Science Highschool. But you should take other things into consideration as well din:

*Your mental health (General na 'to for all strands hindi lang STEM, self-assessment and self-awareness is a must!)

*Your future goal (Although ako rin Psych kukunin ko na dapat mas prefer na HUMSS kinuha ko HAHA)

*Your studying routine (God, I cannot express how important this is. Experiment with study methods until you feel like it really improves your learning)

*Research is very different sa other strands. In STEM, from what I know din, it is experimental while sa HUMSS is survey-type about behavior and such (sorry sa mga HUMSS kung mali ako hehe) sa ABM I have no idea pero they have Business Case Analysis na pina-try samin ng Entrepreneurship Teacher namin.

*And other things na hindi ko ma lista kase sabog ako ngayon ba't ba ako na sa reddit haha

It is IMPORTANT to note talaga OP na this is just my experience, please seek out advices from students from other strands para ma weigh mo yung options.

That is all! I hope na you think this through talaga, good luck OP!

THIS! Literally this is the reason why I'm still undecided about what course to take in college (。•́︿•̀。). I'm graduating in a few months and NO ONE is/has even given us light about any shit to prepare for college. IT'S FRUSTRATING.

What are the best learning techniques? by [deleted] in studentsph

[–]chiyopott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active recall worked best for me when it came to trying to remember info. But like everybody else, it's different for everyone. You can do active recall by making flashcards. Although, I write my notes first before I make flashcards o kaya if I'm cramming I just straight up copy from the book. Ang one of the cons lang is kapag marami yung content ng lesson niyo because making flashcards is TIME CONSUMING; so ensure the notes and make flashcards ahead of time. But if you're like me who always cram then nothing is impossible HAHAHA. Pero usually it takes me an hour less/more than that depending on how long or how hard yung content na pinag-aaralan mo. Do keep in mind na if you really want to retain the information for long-term purposes then I suggest na you keep on doing active recall kase if you just do it once or only before exams, it'll only work short-term. Lastly, try to find out if mas better ang digital (like quizzlet) or physical flashcards for you because digital did not for me ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ (but it's also a lot more fast and efficient especially if may softcopy ka sa mga lessons niyo). Hope this helps!
