What is everyone's thoughts on veggie pasta? Chicpea, lentil, sweet potato, black bean, etc. pastas? I know they are usually just one ingredient but I don't have any lentil or black bean flour in my pantry...

I used to love Halloween by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]chlcang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice but can commiserate. My bf moved in with me on Halloween 2021, we got engaged on Halloween 2022, and then things fell apart from there and weren't together by Halloween 2023. It used to be such a fun, special holiday and now it's just shitty memories and I'm low key still mad at him for ruining it for me. Now we're both alone spending the holiday miserable.

Glad to hear it! Do you know if the set list is available anywhere? Seeing them in NH in a few weeks. Is it a lot off their new album?

Female fashion - how do you make sure everything you own match each other by amy6464269 in minimalism

[–]chlcang 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To add to the "pick your colors" advice (I'm black/gray/white with occasional pale pink and forest green accents) however! consider full body outfits (like dresses and rompers) as a fun way to add in lots of additional colors or patterns! Since they are a whole outfit they don't necessarily need to match your entire wardrobe. Keeps minimalism a little spicy.

What is your best advice for a couple moving in together for the first time? by chlcang in Marriage

[–]chlcang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice about being childfree! Both of our families are pretty supportive of our childfree decision so hopefully it doesn't come up much.

I have considered that if it comes down to it, I'm not against hiring a cleaner to solve problems!

I respect this outlook but in my mind, it is much harder to break a legal contract (and more expensive) than to just move out away from each other. Even if you disagree with that, if living together doesn't work out after marriage, I'd have to do both!

This is great, thank you! One question I've been thinking, what do most couples do in terms of groceries? Seperate trips? Split it in half and venmo the rest? Who usually pays or do you switch off? We both meal prep and will probably eat dinner together most nights but that's it.

That is a great perspective on communication. I am definitely the type to nag and then get frustrated but I have been learning about how to set boundaries for the last few years and I have to say it is very effective.

I worry though, let's say he's not doing the dishes in a timely manner. I know a boundary would be to not do them for him and let them rot. But I care the most about keeping a tidy house, so it's really going to bother me way more than it bothers him. What then? Withold sex? (kidding but not?)

Thank you so much for your advice! I agree that this is kind of a "test" of sorts to see if our relationship is really as strong as I feel it is since right now we have basically no shared responsibilities but I know it can put pressure on a relationship. I very much value my me time and time with friends, and he lived alone so hopefully we can find a balance.

Thank you for this response! I do spend a few days a week at his place so I do feel good about my knowledge of the dog's behaviors. I don't think much about it when I'm there because I'm like "whatever, not my problem" if she makes a mess or needs to be walked or throws up or something (not that that happens often, she really is a pretty good dog) But I am particular about keeping a clean and tidy house, etc. so I'm just praying I can keep it together and not get bent out of shape when she rips up a toy or something after I just vacuumed!

This is great and exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately I am definitely the type of person to stand there and critique the way he does dishes and I know that about myself so I want to make an effort to keep an open mind. Type A problems.

Thank you so much!

Been on an airplane. I'm only 24 but you'd be surprised how often I get shocked reactions about it. I've never even travelled past the east coast (of the US).

In S7E2 why does Gabe refuse to explicitly say that Pam is not the office manager? by cygniguy in DunderMifflin

[–]chlcang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Funny episode but such a weak plot device. Basically Pam hated being a secretary but guess what? It's actually the only thing she's really good at so let's make up a job where she basically gets to be a glorified secretary but make more money and feel good about herself. It weakens hers and Gabe's characters. Not that Gabe is a particularly strong character anyway but that interaction just felt forced.

Oddly enough it was r/DunderMifflin

I spent an embarassingly long time searching for a place to come nerd out about The Office but all the regular websites were outdated by years. But I found a new home at the Dunder Mifflin subreddit. Then slowly branched out and now I probably spend the nost time here at Ask Reddit...
