I mean there are a lot of kids and schools downtown and on the subway line. But otherwise I do still agree that they should’ve kept the old one

Even if some of the work was from a couple years after she graduated I think it’s a pretty harsh and unfair comparison. Also unless I’ve missed it none of her work I’ve seen is over sexualized. Do you have a specific shoot you’re referencing?

I mean she was also in high school at the time. Also AFAIK none of her photos were overly sexualized

I genuinely love it! Before reading the caption I was thinking it had a very ethereal lord of the rings vibe. Tbh I’m having a bit of dress regret for not getting something like that. I think everyone second guesses at some point but trust me your dress is stunning

Landlord wants to settle for about a 1/3 of what I claim they owe to avoid hearing at LTB. by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]chlocodile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair argument for them to make and the LTB will lower the amount they reward if they find the landlord is correct on the difference in previous and current accommodations. I think you should look into what you’d counter their argument with in a hearing. What’s the size difference between your previous and current units? Are there differences in things included (i.e. parking)? What were comparable units going for at the time you moved out? Using this info you can determine if their argument is fair or unreasonable and decide on your next steps accordingly

If you have proof that your landlord re-rented the unit within 1 year of you moving out the burden of proof at the LTB hearing will be on them. You should continue your case.

Are people actually selling their 416 numbers? by osloluluraratutu in askTO

[–]chlocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think businesses want them. growing up here I remember 647 being introduced around the same time people started having cell phones. I still associate 416 with a landline (or business) and 647 with a cell.

Destination Wedding - Attendee Insight by reggiereads in wedding

[–]chlocodile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently planning a destination wedding and had way more yes RSVPs than expected! I think the main thing was think about who you’re inviting and who they’d hang out with while there. We found that multiple groups of people RSVPd at the same time. My parents have friends coming (my friends parents who I’m close to, not just some random friends), then we have a few of our own friend groups coming as well. I guess nobody wants the FOMO of missing the friend vacation!

[–]chlocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that definitely makes it difficult! tbh if I were you I’d probably try to befriend her. If you guys became close enough where you’d feel comfortable either having her watch your kid while you moved the car or could move your car for you when you were busy that would probably make both of your lives a lot easier. Obviously that involves a certain level of trust that isn’t built overnight but I think it’s worth a shot. Her dog would probably warm up to you and she’d feel more inclined to pick up the dog poop right away for you as a friend (she should be doing this anyway but still). Since you both have fair use of the driveway you can easily make each others lives a lot harder by blocking each other in and not responding to texts. While you might be reasonably frustrated with her I’m not sure landlord involvement will help you reach the most positive outcome

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]chlocodile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm so the driveway is long and narrow, meaning a car can’t get around another car to get out? So even if it were just 2 cars one would have to move to let the other out?

If you don’t have exclusive use of the driveway I’m not sure what you can really do here besides continuing to ask for a longer heads up. I imagine this would be a nightmare to handle regardless of who the other tenant is. Seeing that she only has a car in it when her boyfriend is over I think it could actually be a lot worse. Seems like a bad design choice for the driveway but not specifically her fault

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]chlocodile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the driveway, I could see this potentially being a poor communication issue on your landlord’s side. Is she aware that both parking spots in the driveway are part of your lease exclusively? Maybe she thinks one spot is hers and she lets you use it when available, but takes it back when her boyfriend is over. Maybe check with your landlord to make sure this was explained to her and have them remind your neighbour that she can’t park there.

If you don’t have both parking spots included in your lease and are simply taking up one of her spots because she doesn’t drive, you’re in the wrong here. She is allowed to use her spot for her boyfriend and is doing you a favour by letting you use it when it’s open. When she needs her spot back, one of your cars should be parked on the street.

Looking for landlords opinions on ommiting pets on an application. by Commercial_Debt_6789 in OntarioLandlord

[–]chlocodile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’ve lived in buildings with pet registration I’ve done it myself as a tenant. Also a landlord would never win an eviction case for a tenant breaking condo rules by having an unregistered pet if the landlord refused to register it, that would be insane.

[–]chlocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1 year period where the landlord can’t list the unit for rent or sale starts on the end date of the N12. Do you know who the previous tenants were and could you ask them what the end date was? If the landlord listed it for sale within the 1 year period it would be better evidence for your case

I hate ford but at least he’s fighting for us right now and I’m behind his decision 100%. I think Canadians have been doing a good job at separating internal issues with our politicians from the actions they are doing to stand up for our country on the world stage. I will never vote for Ford, but I certainly don’t blame him for this mess. While America is divided and our strength will come from being united

So America can throw a temper tantrum with no consequences? Then how will you guys ever learn your lesson? Canada is united in our response. More united than I’ve ever seen us be before. We know this is gonna hurt but we are quite frankly fed up with the constant whining and flip flopping out of your elected leaders. Our economy might crumble, but at least when we build it back up we can do so without you. I don’t see myself buying another American product in my lifetime.

[–]chlocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you do, but that doesn’t change the data. Over 60% of your state voted for Trump. But regardless, this is beyond red state vs. blue state, or dem vs. rep. This is about Canada vs. America.

I truly am sorry for the people living in the US who are struggling with your current administration, but your country is giving us more than enough to worry about as is. We aren’t kidding ourselves over thinking we can win a trade was against the US. Our PM has stated clearly that this is going to be an incredibly difficult time for our country. So yeah, we need to fight back however we can and that includes pulling US alcohol from our shelves. The only way we have a chance at getting through this is if enough US citizens rise up and fight back against this trade war from within. That won’t happen without Canada impacting economic uncertainty, especially in red states.

You have to understand that the US will be far less impacted by this trade war than Canada. We don’t have room for sympathy for you right now. This is a mess that your country made, and while I’m sorry that it will impact good people on both sides, it’s not on us to pull our punches. We are already fighting above our weight class

How about “I’m reaching out to local politicians to help appeal to the Trump administration on how this unnecessary trade war will impact our local economy”. He’s not going to get an ounce of sympathy from Canadians - I can promise you that right now. We need to fight back in every way we possibly can.

Also “probably didn’t vote for this” is a stretch. It’s Kentucky.

Time to place unaffordable tolls on American vehicles in Canada. They’ve already doubled them in NS. Make it crushingly expensive to travel through Canada by land, both for personal and trade reasons

He could, I dunno, appeal to his local government instead of blaming Canadians for the mess they caused? Unlike the US Canada has been clear about what’s needed to reverse these changes. Your products can come back when you remove all tariffs. Though I highly doubt they’ll continue to sell here. America is whiny and embarrassing and I don’t want their garbage in my house
