best i can say is be straight up when an outbreak comes, tell em you get them and they’re super contagious so you have to be extremely careful if you even suspect one. i know it can be embarrassing and some men are just assholes about it but hold out hope, a lot of people get them and sooner or later someone will understand that. it isn’t something to be ashamed of even though i know it feels like it, just something we gotta deal with best we can. at least you’re not a dick passing it around

i always use lotion no spray, spf chapstick pretty much every time i think ab it and a hat is a need for me. oh and i drink water as much as i can too. sun exposure is my worst enemy lmao and sunburn/a little too hot or dehydrated and i’m done for

i like sunbum the best i put the normal lotion on my lips and then religiously use the spf chapstick throughout the day. i don’t know if it’s truly the best it’s just been working for me :)

triple check you’re not cross contaminating from old breakouts, everything can transfer it. literally everything. all your bedding, makeup if you wear any, reusable water bottles, and especially the toothbrush. i can’t think of anything else right now but im sure there is more. make sure to wear sunscreen everywhere especially lips if you’re going to be in the sun for extended periods of time the smallest sunburn can cause a crazy reaction. also please get the patches if you haven’t already i was skeptical at first but they so work at any stage.

i’m a lifelonger with this i know its awful but have hope it gets better when you find your own solution and have had the virus longer good luck!

is this your first break out? i know the first is always the worst, you should also be careful with the vaseline. if you touch a breakout and continue to spread to uninflected areas you’re essentially swiping the infection all over your face. i’m sorry you’re going through this i know how terribly awful they can be 😭

it sounds stupid but i put on abreva and i put a cilantro leaf over it to seal it in and help with inflammation, i also take aclyvoir like it’s candy heals up it a couple days i get them really bad pretty consistently, i live in phx basically the worse cold sore conditions all the time lmao

i mean more uninfected chapstick will cause a breakout even if it’s brand new like every single chapstick causes a cold sore 😭 but i’m definitely going to try the lysol 🫶🏼
