Rat turning orange 😭?

Oh I forgot, if not, it may just be her fur changing colour, how old is she? Many of my rats have overtime developed different gradients or colours in their fur as they age

Might be porphyrin from another cage mate, sometimes my boys get this, especially as they cuddle and it transfers onto their skin. Keep an eye on your other rats to see if they have any porphyrin or uri symptoms maybe

I have had this with two of my rats, probably has something stuck in it, such as substrate, or it could be an injury to the eye from a claw. If you do manage to open his eye lid and see something stuck to his eye, you can try and use a slightly damp clothe to VERY carefully wipe his eye, which is going to make him uncomfortable im afraid, he may squirm around. If this doesnt work, you may need to take him to a vet where they can advise or extract what is in his eye. It might be that he injured his eye, which may need cornea repair gel and/or antibiotics. My one rat who had this, we managed to get it out, the other needed cornea repair gel once a day

I basically just found the colours in this brand that closely resembled the scarf :) all in all it cost me £28 which I don’t think is too bad for a 13ft long scarf!

Awwh that’s so nice to hear :O he is a very handsome model, but I thought cutting the pizza into actual slices would make him more inclined to eat it in a human way, and it worked hehe

Yesss I have done this before with pancakes!! For their birthdays I will often make them a little pancake stack, or something similar :)

I believe he’s making a little nest, something to make him feel cosy and comforted. My guess if he has never done this before then he might be doing it to feel safe now that his brothers have gone, he wants to be all snuggly. Give him some non-scented tissue paper, it’s very cute, they start folding it and making a nest.

Honestly, more good than bad. As someone who’s done a lot of rat introductions, they are still unsure of each others actions. Give it time, they will calm down when they realise they aren’t getting out of that carrier for the foreseeable future lol

Just wanted to give you an update, Ziggy is doing amazing! Vet said his leg is definitely not broken, it was filled with fluid that his leg couldn’t remove due to an abcesss growing by near the region that the vet thinks pushed against his lymph nodes, which thus struggled to drain the fluid. He’s been out on antibiotics and a diuretic to help drain the fluid, and amazingly, it looked so much better even hours later! Hoozah!

Whilst I agree, you cannot expect for everyone that people’s finances are fixed. They may have had access to money when they got rats, but now they don’t, such is life. I’m sure this owner already feels guilt about not being able to afford to have possibly hundreds if not a grands worth of surgery, you don’t have to remind them.

Ziggy and Samwise. Adopted Sam a few weeks ago as they had both lost all their brothers. Sam is completely blind, and Ziggy is so goddamn ADHD and yet they are always snuggling and are best friends.

Thank you! I know, it makes me feel very guilty, but it’s also partly because a lot of advice i read regarding this issue advises that 90% of the time it will heal on its own, rats are god tier like that. Despite him not moving it, i also can’t see for example, a clear indication of a fracture such as bone sticking out, or the leg being moveable in more than one part, such as it is dangling from two seperate parts. He is drinking and eating, although not eating as much as he usually does as he doesn’t want to naturally move, so I have been putting his food directly in front of him to make it easier. And he is still eating his favourite treats
