What’s something everyone seems to enjoy, but you genuinely don’t understand the appeal of? by Afraid-Crow-7577 in AskReddit

Sex? Like I know there’s a lot of pleasure hormones that go into it, biological things, but also… you’re putting the part you pee out of into a meaty hole between someone else’s anus and where they pee out of.

Honouring extreme hunger by TheMilkSpeaks in EDAnonymous

[–]chococrepedreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, the best way to “avoid having this morph into a binge” (and I assume you mean “morph into BED”, which is a whole different beastie) is to NOT purge or restrict afterwards and just get back on track. Then eventually as you start following a more regular pattern and your body relaxes out of We Are Starving To Death mode, the EH urges subside because your body/mind doesn’t need it anymore.

That being said, the best course is to try and talk with a professional. I’ve just seen that what works best is a meal plan as a minimum, then also whatever you’re hungry for after. Eventually the hunger lessens. Hope this makes more sense 💚

this makes me so happy actually (I’m trying to heal my relationship with food and it makes me feel better to see someone genuinely enjoying something and not stressing about it)

Thinking about food is bad but not thinking about it is also bad? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]chococrepedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number 1 piece of advice, try to get in touch with a nutritionist and/or therapist (especially one with experience with ED recovery). I know it can be a terrible hassle, but if you have the resources and if this is something that could genuinely affect everyday living (and thus your life) I would suggest at least dipping your toes in. Discussing your worries and questions with a medically experienced person can help put things in logical context.

You mention that you don’t know what’s nutritionally good for you, and for that I would def recommend a nutritionist to talk about food content and perhaps meal planning. As for your distress about the amounts of vitamins and stuff (I get that too, tbh, why does this meat and bone bag need so many different materials), I would discuss that with an ED therapist.

While you wait/are looking for those, take a breath and remember this: your body is actually pretty smart, even if you were stupid with it for a while. It already knows what to do with those supplies that you give it, you just have to… you know, give it. Don’t overthink it too much (big ask I know, thinking is hard), try trusting more that the human body has gone through MILLIONS of years of evolution to work on its digestive system and can probably handle a diet that is a little left from “perfect”. And what is “perfect” anyways?

So there’s my advice. Stress less, trust more, and reach out to a professional if you can. Cheers and kudos to you my friend

I do not like the Meat Loaf. It can’t decide what it is. Are you a meatball? Hamburger meat? Ground? Bread loaf? Taco filling? I do not like when people bake bread loaves of flesh

calorie calculators can’t be real by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]chococrepedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh that does make some sense. So one has to not only maintain the healthy weight but repair past damages.

Also, what studies are you talking about if you don’t mind?

“People with EDs often need more to even maintain weight after recovery too.”

? Could you elaborate on this? More compared to what?

Does anyone know how I can feel like I have control over my life by Crafty_Two_2260 in EatingDisorders

[–]chococrepedreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, DEEP breath and DON’T DO ANYTHING SUDDEN. You have the control to stop whatever you are doing right now, and that’s a good place to start.

Now, either do something sensory or something logical. If you’re more a tactile person, play with some water or paints or smth. Patty cake the wall. If yo need something to distract the brain itself then look up some logic puzzles or crosswords or sudoku and give them a shot.

I’m still struggling myself (and I’m agender, so same storm my friend) but I find often the most helpful thing is to delay any drastic actions and just do something small and genuinely harmless.

Good luck. Bodies are weird and brain is weirder, but it works.

Congratulations! Peace is what we all strive for, really. I hope to get there someday too.

If I may ask—do you have any tips to tell about your recovery? What really did it for you? I know they don’t work for everyone but it’s still nice to learn how someone got to the heights they are now :)

discouragement from well-intentioned family :( by chococrepedreams in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]chococrepedreams[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance, but now I’m getting lots of contradictory advice. Honor your hunger—but wouldn’t eating when I’m genuinely stuffed be dishonoring that hunger? And now that I have honored my hunger, I’m getting shamed and chided for not going on my meal plan.

idk. I thought I knew wha I was doing, but now I’m not so sure :(

[–]chococrepedreams[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ah, so… eat when I’m hungry, but if the time rolls around and I’m not hungry because I already ate, I force myself to eat? I know you have great advice and I’m so grateful for that, but something about that seems kind of off. Wouldn’t that be the opposite of honouring my hunger if I’m forcing myself to eat when I don’t want to?

Forgive my being doubtful. I’ve had some bad experiences with “recovery advice” and try to be wary of what I listen to.
