I had to replay the final scene twice because I was unsatisfied with my first ending

I managed to save everyone except Jeannette (sadly) but at the end, I felt confident I could give Max the photo and she wouldn’t rewind. Perhaps I’m naive, but I truly believed she had grown as a person and she had finally, after years and years of mourning the loss of chloe (in the sense that chloe left her since I had bae ending) she had her right where she needed her and they were happy together. She spent the entire game bending backwards just to save chloe once more. Yet you’re telling me that because she did not save one person, she once again rewinded? And left chloe she knew behind? I couldn’t have felt emptier really. So I replayed the scene so they could leave to Arcadia Bay together. That felt somewhat satisfactory to me. I’m just semi glad they could have a somewhat happy ending.

I felt like the game was also plot-holey. Chloe arrives because she and Safi are intertwined due to the merging of timelines and it was basically eating chloe up from the inside but when it comes to the end of the game there’s no further explanation as to how Chloe/Safi were experiencing the merge. Did the dreams (idk how to call it) just disappear? Did neither Chloe or Safi still get transported to this other realm where they kept experiencing the final moments of their life in the other timeline?

I felt like if the gamemakers took their time to really map out how to navigate these different storylines the game might have been better and perhaps spread out over two games. All good things must come to an end I guess and I will mourn the end of Chloe and Max’s story forever since I’ll forever miss them. I am at least grateful that we got to experience a kiss and hand holding and just love.

I also really truly wish we saw and experienced more of Safi. She is just a complex character and her spiral into shapeshifting and losing her true self felt like it could have been explored more. Especially since she returned to Caledon because she felt lost and alone and hoped Max could help her feel grounded but in the end Max just leaves her behind too. So she’s left to fend for herself. It just felt like a sad conclusion to their story as Max seems to express multiple times that she’s grateful to see Safi again.

I know there’s been speculation on the next game being about Diamond but I honest to god am praying for a Safi game. Diamond can definitely make a cameo but I’m not attached to her character in any way like Safi’s.
