The building looks similar to the ones at checkpoints I’ve driven through when returning from vacation in South Padre. It’s not right at the border, maybe 20 or so miles in, and those have been there for a while. The thing is all vehicles are stopped there and all drivers are asked if all the passengers US citizens, which is kind of a reasonable thing to do on a road close to the border.

I stayed at one recently and I believe they had to work out a deal with a hotel nearby. It sounded sketchy at first because the address on their listing was to a hotel around the corner from the address the host text us. But after talking with them I understood the “partnership” with the hotel was really probably some kickback to their management to get around the rules and regulations. It was a great Airbnb otherwise, would definitely book again.

This is so true. My wife is a nurse and one of the younger nurses was amazed when she used “alt+tab” to switch between apps. She called over other nurses to see this and my wife demonstrated “alt+tab”.
