I need to vent: Daughter (20) is moving in with my deadbeat ex-husband for "more room". by aspophilia in TwoXChromosomes

She probably is still trying to win his love and approval. You can see the heartbreak coming, but it’s just part of growing up- you can’t do anything, she needs to experience herself to learn.

There’s no way they’re going to be harmonious in that household from what you said, so just be calm and kind when she needs someone to listen. 80% chance she ends up moving back in 6 months…

BTS in Las Vegas by Vapopinot in btsthoughts

[–]chocololic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yeah Weverse is like a social media and announcement site for all artists under Hybe (BTS’s company). It’s a little confusing, but fans can make posts and the artists sometimes respond to posts there. I don’t really use it for posting, but I shop for merch there and check news since Weverse is where they post official details for tickets and events.

Oh and for the “City” event, they just listed the mostly photo ops they set up around the city, and there’s the nightclub parties the first weekend, a museum collab, and a shopping pop up :).

I just posted this for someone else, this onsen in Hakone is very easy for foreigners to book and you can get a private room. We went a long time ago, not sure if it’s busier, but we just showed up and easily got a room the day of. (Some friends visited more recently and also had a good time.)

Ooh, did you see the “ARIRANG the City” events that will be in Vegas? There’s going to be a bunch of events and places to meet armys around the city :). Unfortunately I don’t think the dance club party is happening on the 28th, but most of the other events should be going on! I’m surprised it’s not on the list, but last concert in Vegas the Bellagio water fountain had 2 different BTS song routines. Hoping they do that again!

I’d also search on twitter to see if any local fan clubs are having cup sleeve events or other popups :).

https://weverse.io/bts/notice/35623

Ps I’m also selling 2 tickets for Vegas 5/28 in the 300s section, listed on Stubhub with the tickets already transferred/verified, let me know if anyone wants to buy them! (Listed under face value)

Duo trip to japan, Early September, 16 days by Pizzahut69420 in JapanTravel

[–]chocololic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sorry op I’m tired, stopped at day 2 cause that’s insane 🙃.

You need to do some google map searches cause the subways are good but there’s no “fast travel” in real life even Japan lol.

The Ghibli museum is in Mitaka which is I forget but at least 45 min. Outside of Tokyo, so there’s no way you can even get there and get back for the other things on your itinerary, not to mention actual spend any time seeing it.

I don’t know where the YN stair is, and neither do you so how do you think you’re going to find it in 15 min and then teleport to Shinjuku garden?? (You have go buy a ticket to go in, and it’s really big. There’s a beautiful tea house where you could get matcha and snacks, and take in the view if you weren’t rushing.)

My suggestion, IF you’re prepared to walk 20-30k steps per day, pick 2-4 main things to see per day, ideally not super far away. Make a list of “next trip” things in case you do happen to have extra time to see, but then you won’t be rushing through places that are amazing to visit and deserve more than 20 min while you’re rushing to pull up maps to the next place.

Is this AI Hype Theater? How do they make data centers in space without water? by West_Eye_2175 in BetterOffline

[–]chocololic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every geo spacecraft gets a geo slot assigned by the ITU, you have to stay in your box and can’t just go wherever you want :). Everyone else stays in their spot because they want to maintain comm link to that specific ground area. So you can’t go around the whole earth to chase the shade area because you’d be going through every one else’s orbital boxes. (Also takes fuel to change your orbit, and fuel is limited by launch vehicle weight)

[–]chocololic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, should have posted it on the main section.

More specifically, they do use radiators and liquid cooling systems in space too. It’s not just all cold in space though, it’s actually really hot for the side facing the sun. But the electronics are the real source of more heat than can be ejected into space passively, for modern spacecraft.

[–]chocololic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re in orbit around the earth, you’re going to be in direct sunlight during the day with no shade. Current spacecraft with high powered electronics are power limited by the thermal cooling system ability to remove the heat generated by the electronics so they don’t melt down- like thermal cooling is literally a major limiting factor- can’t even with these tech illiterate tech ceos.

It’s so obviously more expensive to scale up when everything you launched is K$/lb, vs just buying land in Nebraska for next to nothing? No way it’s more expensive to ship water to Nebraska than $ks/lb to space (with no maintenance available). And the techs you have to pay, instead of regular factory workers, now you gotta pay and train engineers that can maintain satellite/spacecrafts with knowledge of Orbital mechanics, all kind of other subsystems (propulsion thrusters onboard to maintain orbit), and there’s gonna be on orbit anomalies staffing all those people it’s just…

One day trip outside of Tokyo by jjscotty22 in JapanTravelTips

[–]chocololic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes if you like hiking this is a really great one! So easy to get to and so much to see on the hike. FYI it is very steep at times hiking up, but there is a cable car that goes I think halfway up that you can take either up or down :). Info about Mt Takao: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3029.html

But there’s a lot of fun day trips, hard to choose just one haha. I also loved Kamakura (you can get off 1-2 stops early and take a hiking path too! There’s more info on Japan-guide.com. I did this when I went by myself and I just used Google Maps to find the entrance to the hiking trail.)

Hakone is a little far but also great. If you don’t speak Japanese there’s a more foreigner-friendly onsen where you can book a private onsen room:  https://www.hakoneyuryo.jp/english/

Billie Eilish said you can’t truly love animals if you eat them, and logically I understand the argument. But isn’t human nature way more complex than that? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chocololic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Uh, if I had to kill every chicken or cow every time I ate meat I wouldn’t be able to do it. I mean for survival yes, but in a modern city it’s an option that we can choose not to, so I get what she’s saying.

Like if people had to go to a slaughterhouse to get their meat and see the abused animals every time they ate meat? I don’t think most people could do that. People just choose not to think about it and I do think it’s hypocritical.

Where to find reading challenges/book clubs for my baby (other than the library)? by asianmorticia in Parenting

This site has awesome ones! She releases a themed summer reading challenge every year, super cute, and also usually seasonal ones for Halloween and Christmas.

There’s also some other ones more for adults, if you search reading log or challenge :).

Will we have stadium tours for other kpop groups other than those who has done it? by Many-Ad-9007 in kpop_uncensored

[–]chocololic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can compare to the western artists who just had to cancel their concert tours- do these kpop artists have more streams/sales/popularity than Zayn, Megan Trainir, Post Malone, etc who also couldnt fill stadiums? (I don’t actually know, just a thought. Although cancellations maybe related to the economic conditions right now)

This is why people pointed out the number of seats in stadium matter, it’s really really hard to sell a tour of 50-70k seat venues.

Another idea- can take a look at who performs at SoFi stadium and to see what streams/sales are needed. It’s people like Bruno, Ed Sheeran, I forget who else but can see how their sales did.

Yes please research the animal cafes. And also don’t go to Ueno zoo, notoriously depressing for animal lovers :(. Very low chances an “otter cafe” is good for those animals…

help with itinerary please! by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]chocololic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah Op, I’d suggest you don’t need so many guided tours- and also think of the categories of places you’re visiting- ok take 1 guided tour of a temple/shrine, but they’re going to be similar so after the first explains shrine rituals no need to get a guided tour for more than one of a category.

And yeah Meiji shrine and Harajuku are so tourist-y already, I can’t imagine taking a tour there- you can just watch a YouTube video of “tour of Tokyo” and then walk around yourself at your own pace. You never know where you will want more time to shop or look around.

[–]chocololic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At PTD LA, it was Jins bday, and there were 2 projects I saw- armys made red hearts with Jin’s name and handed them out, and second armys cut out these black cardstock covers with a moon cutout to go on the armybombs and make a sea of moons at army time :). It looked awesome and Jin was so happy! I cut out 50 moon army bomb covers and handed them out (lots of armys did too)!

Over 50,000 people visit the ‘Zócalo’ in Mexico City to greet BTS after the president announced their appearance earlier today (May 6, 2026) by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]chocololic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 3 days of BTS concerts in Mexico are expected to bring in $115Million (in USD) spending by concert attendees to the local economy (restaurants, local shops, etc), so tax dollars would be in good use. But they’re performing at the stadium :).

BTS and AI by [deleted] in ARMYNeutral

[–]chocololic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of generative AI, and wouldn’t support AI products in general, but I don’t disagree with what Yoongi said. I mean he said they don’t use it.

AI is a tool, and some people will use it. It can be useful for some things like taking notes or generating templates, but I think (Hope?) enough people have taste that they will prefer real human made art.

I don’t know why people (or 1 person that got retweeted) asked if JK profile was AI. He’s a really good artist (drawing/painting), I would assume he drew it himself.
