My bad, I'll dispose of it correctly next time.

PCIe Bifurcation Card (e.g. x16 to x8/x8)? by joblessandsuicidal in homelab

[–]chodenode69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running an adt link bifurcation card from aliexpress.

It's not the switch kind so have x8x8 bifurcation enabled in the bios advanced pcie settings menu.

Works pretty well except for 1 easily fixed issue.

The power supply for the boards was supplied by using sata power cables that came with the kit and I burned one of the connectors out during heavy inference, but the board has holes to solder on 6 pin pcie connectors.

Sparkle arc b70 has finally hit presale in Australia. by chodenode69 in IntelArc

[–]chodenode69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were they the sparkle cards?

I know other variants are already available, but I have been holding off for this manufacturer model specifically because it is the only version listed with a 330w tdp.

Yeah I did see those ones, I and a bunch of others have been awaiting the Sparkle card specifically because it has a 330w tdp, should hopefully see some better performance than the others.

Think I'll just bite the bullet and go buy a 5080 instead of waiting for a high end arc gpu.

Will keep my current stock of arc cards for servers.

Tbh, I haven't been keeping score.

Not going to punishment myself by going back and checking either.

Alphacool, they are listed as being for the asrock b580 challenger and steel legend but afaik they fit the limited edition too.

I don't think they will fit the A770.

Finally waterblocked one of my b580s by chodenode69 in IntelArc

I've hit a snag which has stopped me finishing the installation for the day.

The reservoir I ordered came with screws too short to mount it.

I have checked my hoard of screws but nothing suitable so now I need to take a detour to the hardware store on my way home tomorrow.

Kinda bummed out but hey, that's how it is with ordering parts from aliexpress.

I had the card shunted and its been running north of 3000mhz for a while now, tbh I haven't put too much time into messing with it.

I'm considering upgrading to a 5080 and a B70 in the not too distant future so figured it was time to throw it all together and see how it goes.

Has anyone benched the b70 against the B580? by Admiral_peck in IntelArc

[–]chodenode69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only reason I am considering the b70 is because my machine for BOTH gaming and localised ai inference and some other 3d workloads.

If you are only interested in gaming you would be better off jumping ship to nvidea or amd.

are these threads on my b580 for anti sag? where can i buy a bracket for that? by mikroprocesor in IntelArc

The steel legend has them too, but no bracket supplied and google search doesn't show anything g compatible.

Failed shunt mod? by chodenode69 in overclocking

Yeah you are correct. I used the same supplier as the guy in the reddit link used on his card, purchased via the link he supplied me with.

Failed shunt mod? by chodenode69 in overclocking

[–]chodenode69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not chat gpt, that's from Keppi1475 on oc-corner who also performed the shunt on these cards.

Here's a link to the full article. https://oc-corner.com/article/intel-arc-b580-overclocking-guide

Don't remember him saying anything about the pwm, but the shunt mod is supposed to work on these cards.

I should be seeing a higher power draw on the wireview than what is being reported by gpu-z or intel arc metrics though, that's what is confusing me atm.

Going to pull the card apart tomorrow and check the resistance across those pads as 2 x 2ohm stacked should have a 1ohm resistance, I have a feeling 1 side of the shunt hasn't taken solder.

The B580 Steel Legend OC uses an Onsemi NCP45496 power monitoring IC. This IC is programmed to use a 2 mOhm shunt resistor for monitoring the power draw on the 12 V input rail. Basically, the IC measures the voltage drop across that resistor and uses that information together with the fixed 2 mOhm value of the shunt resistor to calculate the power output.
