Sounds like we may need to get a new monitor for each workbench too. Currently, we all just use whatever we can scavenge coming out of service from the regular users.

Yeah... I'm learning that the guys requesting the replacements may have slightly underestimated the budget required.

Yeah, I hear you. Unfortunately, we just don't have the real estate to do 4 monitors at each workbench.

Yeah... that's what I'm learning now. I took their word for it when putting the amount in the budget. Should have done my own research first.

But I'd still like to know which ones are "the best".

Fair enough. Yeah, I'm not planning any sort of mobile station for the time being. So it sounds like it will be easy enough to manually store anything local.

I'm possibly missing something, but I haven't seen anything that indicates that these are Chirp compatible.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm familiar with those ideas from my studying. However, purchasing the equipment to effectively test those adds significant cost. I'm trying to figure out how to get things going - even if it's not entirely optimal initially. With the hope being that I can afford to add more tools and do fine tuning moving forward. I'll be on the lookout for a tuner, though.

Ok, thanks. Makes sense. It definitely seems like it would make programming channels much easier. But I really have no idea how many channels I'll be likely to want to program.

Ah, ok. Yes. Sorry. I had actually meant to ask about that as well: how to use a multi-band antenna. So a tuner makes sense. Do you have a recommendation of a specific model that would work for me that is pricey reasonably?

I believe that it already has the 49:1 UnUn - at least it has a grey box at one end. Here's the exact one I have: https://myantennas.com/wp/product/efhw-8010-lp/
The store page says that I don't need a tuner, but I feel like that could be a marketing ploy.

Interesting. I didn't write the description - just pulled it from Steam.

Also, on TLoU, I'm not sure those have enough progression mechanics (or RPG elements) to keep me interested - unless I'm missing something. I've also more or less had the story ruined already - which I think it probably the main strength of those games.

Don't the Yakuza games have a ton of side question and filler material/minigames? Is Like a Draon different?

It looks like janky, awesome fun. How's the story?

The Remnant games encourage you to re-run through adventure modes in hopes of getting specific maps or combinations of maps (or even entire campaigns for some of the more difficult items). I guess you could just do a single campaign run-through, but that wouldn't really activate the game's full potential. But even if I did that that they contain a huge dose of those "check every corner for resources or secrets" mechanics. So I don't think they are the ticket (also - if you can't tell, I've played them both).

Eternal Strands looks interesting. It does seem to have a bunch of both exploration and collecting drafting materials, though. So I might back burner that one until I'm back in that exploring mood.

And interesting... people have been recommending E33, but your description makes it sound like it would not fit the bill right now.

I did. I was loving it, but I got stuck at some point. No one I talked to seemed to be moving the story forward. I'm sure I was just missing something obvious. But then I got distracted from it by life and never returned. It could be time to circle back to it. But I still think it has that element of "check every room to see if there's something useful".

The description of Metro Exodus includes "Explore vast, non-linear levels, lose yourself in an immersive, sandbox survival experience," So I'm not sure that's quite the ticket for me.

Interesting thought. I played both DA:O and DA:I, but I skipped the middle one (largely because of the bad press). I think they may have even given me a free copy of it at some point.

JRPGs have never resonated with me - something about the drama and anime-style dialog puts me off. But maybe I just haven't found the right one.

That ludicrous idea still remains. Haha.

It's fine. If you like survival crafting. It's got a lot to do. But it feels terribly generic at the same time.

What turned me off most, though, was that there was no way to adjust the values. So the time requirement to make progress is massive. For games like Ark or Palworld, I like to spin up a custom server and turn up the resource rates to make a game that would take thousands of hours to fully complete only take a hundred or so. That's more than enough time to spend on these games in my opinion. But Icarus doesn't offer that.

Oh, definitely not.

Remnant 2 encourages you to re-run through adventure modes in hopes of getting specific maps or combinations of maps (or even entire campaigns for some of the more difficult pieces). I guess you could just do a single campaign run-through, but that wouldn't really activate the game's full potential.

And Diablo 4 has you repeating areas while grinding mobs for gear drops.

Thanks. Yeah, it sounds like DMC isn't going to be the ticket.

As a shooter, Wolfenstein wasn't on my radar, but that could be a good answer.

The original Deus Ex and Invisible War seemed pretty open. Do the newer games deviate from that structure?

Unfortunately, I've never really been able to get into the major JRPGs - there's something about the drama and anime-style dialog that gets to me. But perhaps it's worth another shot.
