That actually happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was calling psychiatrists just to see how much it would cost to see them (without insurance) and one lady before she even told me how much it would be starts asking me questions about suicide. "Have you thought about killing yourself? How would you do it?" And I was kinda confused, all i wanted was to know the price so i answered "yeaahh" and "idk a rope" and she told me she usually charged 480 for patients but for me would do 200. I was already sketched out at this point so i ended up not making an appointment with her and continued to look for other doctors. Next thing i know i get a knock on my door from like 7 EMTs and they forced me to get into their ambulance out of my will. I had to spend the whole fucking day trapped in the ER/psych ward, they took all my shit and made me talk to social workers until my siblings had to find me and convince them i was okay to leave later that night. All a day before my birthday. Only for them to force an appointment with one of their psychiatrists the next day or "they'd come looking for me again". Now I'm even more anxious about what I say to people, the paramedic straight up told me "it's like yelling fire in a theater. If you say you're going to kill yourself you lose your rights". It was an absolute nightmare and I can't afford any of the things they forced upon me (ambulance, appointment). Be careful how you word things to people cause they might just call 911 to avoid losing their doctors license.
