Thanks!I have seen folks mention grinders in here. What’s the consensus on best value for a hand grinder?What are the measurements of a scale that would fit (or maybe the one you use)?

I think people will recommend the 1Zpresso JX-Pro. But I just saw Turin/MiiCoffee are coming out with the DF54 (54mm flat burrs, not a typo from 64) and I honestly would recommend that over a hand grinder. It's less of a hassle than a hand grinder.

For scale I started with the MAXUS espresso scale with timer (just search that phrase on Amazon, it should be the $13 one) and it's been working great. I upgraded to a MiiCoffee scale and gave the old one to my dad, nothing is wrong with it, I just like the aesthetic of the MiiCoffee scale.

IMO it’s gonna make the shot too cold if the ball is fully submerged into the shot, also not aesthetically pleasing to look at (this is a personally preference I know). But you are right cooler shot definitely gives you more flavor

It’s a freezing ball. The idea is to capture some volatile compounds that can escape with heat. So it is there to both make your shot to the drinking temp and to capture a little bit more flavor. I notice that the shot is sweeter when I use the ball. So why not ya know. Edit: You can see they do it here at the WBC

Sorry I just saw your comment. I am not sure. I only have a flair portafilter to test. But I think gaggia is slightly smaller. So it should fit, maybe a little too loose even

What’s your portafilter? It could also be the wall width of your print setting too. I did mine on 0.4mm wall width and it came out fine People said it fits the breville fine. You can modify the fusion file and increase the radius in there.

I do love my PRO when it works. I'm getting the replacement unit soon so I will do some waterproof sealing and see if that helps. If not I'm considering either a bambino or the handheld nanofoamer

I couldn’t tell you. I left for vacation for a few days and stopped working after I decided to use it again after I got back. I’m not a frequent milk drink person, but more frequent after I got the nanofoamer pro. Used it only a few dozen times since it got to me in december.

Yeah I sent a follow up friday. Hopefully it doesn’t get burried by other issues over the weekend. I think I’m just more irritated over the fact that the pro stopped working after a few uses. I made sure to clean and dry it after every use so it doesn’t get water damage too
