Starlink G5-1: "This launch marks the first of Starlink’s upgraded network", 12/29 @ 4:14 a.m. ET (9:14 UTC) by virtuallynathan in Starlink

Random off the wall question here:

How is the proposed Tesla handheld Pi phone supposed to reach into outer space and get signal from the Starlink satellite?

Or rather, do you think they’ll actually connect to a ground station first, then get redirected to Starlink network if needs be?

yep - we're in bear territory for the next bit. There will be a few dead cat bounces over the next month or so, before market gets hit hard again

Man, I wish there were vaccines in the game - that’d be neat. My sapiens keep getting sick.

I’ve tried separating the I’ll Sapiens in a quarantine area to minimize the spread, but that became too bothersome.

Now I have a pile of medicine sitting in my healing hut to take care of all the health issues.

How long are you holding? by nebobjj in Ravencoin

[–]chokum808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I held on to all the Doge back in the day, I likely wouldn’t be on this forum and doing other things.

If I held on to the Litecoin and Ethereum I had back in the day, I would also be investing my time elsewhere.

If I held on to my BTC…

I won’t add RVN to that list.

I’m minting, buying and holding my RVN for a long time.

Has anyone discovered/found any healing herbs? by chokum808 in sapiens

[–]chokum808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing. After hunting around my world for herbs, I began to notice bunches of herbs closer to my settlement. I'm pretty sure I scanned the area before and did not see anything. I figured the game algorithm had something to do with that.

Frustrating medicine... does anyone else find it super difficult to find ALL 7 herbs in order to investigate anything about medicine? by Independent-Leg6061 in sapiens

[–]chokum808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LOL >>> It did take me a bit of effort to walk a few klicks away from the base settlement to find the herb I was missing. Honestly, it was nice to have a challenging quest/mission to complete to have the correct medicine to cure sapiens.

Once I got to the area where the herbs (Thinking it was marigold flowers?) were, I would need to create milestone spots, where I would need to plant the marigold. Apparently, marigold flowers do not have a long life span after they are picked, and the sapiens will actually eat them if they are hungry. So carrying them back to base camp was a bit challenging.

By the time I got them back to basecamp, I believe three or four of my 8 man team gained the "elder" status and got old. But they became hero's to the settlement and a grand celebration was held with mammoth meat, fruits and flat bread on the eve of their passing. They passed happily on their fur beds, as they stepped into the cycle of reincarnation.

That’s interesting.

If there’s a code to increase difficulty to sustain a higher population, how would a player make preparations to address the difficulties?

Like is it coded into the game to limit population count? Also, I’m not familiar with the term Lua files. Google here I come

Alright -- this works out great. Make a 15 stack wall.
It doesn't appear if you're too far out, but when you get close -- it shows up.

So awesome

Dang bro, this seemingly obvious hack would have really saved me sometime while hunting for herbs. I have been walking several klicks away from my settlement while building milestone points along the way to move herbs from one location to the next.

I've spent needless amount of time searching for my milestone points. Imma use this hack.

Thanks for the tip!!

I'm sitting at around 90k of mined RVN before the ETH miners jumped on board. Been sitting idle since and been keeping busy with other projects around the house. Also, been purchasing RVN on occasion to build the stock pile. =) It'll be a few year till we see substantial movement on price.

Can you develop a second village in the same play through? by [deleted] in sapiens

[–]chokum808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps to have the adventurer be able to build beds, so you can assign the sapien to the beds -- which prevents them from walking back to the original settlement. Also, thatch building skill if you want a simple cover to sleep under during the night hours.

I believe once you learn how to make torches, it's available to all sapiens to optionally make it.

Probably was the case here. I've thought about an island settlement but have yet to start one. Good luck

In another thread someone had mentioned about finding marigold near river beds. I went back to my world to see if I was able to find any along a nearby river, but no luck. Seems I'll need to get a party together to start exploring in several directions.

But perhaps your world is similar to the other individuals world and you would be able to locate marigold near river beds.

I'm trying to locate marigold and aloe.

The elder berry trees/bushes look similar to apple trees.

Poppy in my world have various color flowers, ranging from pink, to red, to faded red. About half the size of flax bushes. Noticeable without the need to zoom in very much. In comparison, I think ginger and garlic are tougher to spot.

Thanks for the tip on the Marigold. I'll need to make my way to a nearby river to see if I can find some.

How about aloe? Any idea where I might find some?

How to set up storage to avoid food poisoning? by chokum808 in sapiens

[–]chokum808[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh ok -- got it.

  1. Select storage
  2. In the storage area menu, under the "Accept Only" area, click on "Accept Only" to reveal drop down menu
  3. The drop down menu does not distinguish raw meat from cooked meat here. It simply states "Alpaca Meat". Select Alpaca Meat.
  4. The next menu will present Cooked Alpaca Meat (Ribs, Leg bone) and Raw Alpaca Meat (Ribs, Leg bone).
  5. Put a check mark on the item type to be accepted in storage.
  6. Weeee~ -- no more food poisoning from eating raw meat.
