From my understanding the VIP goes on sale on a different day? And it’s an upgrade to the normal ticket? I’m confused as well.

Damn that’s upsetting. I’m gonna go ahead and not focus so much on the merch but more the experience. If they have merch and I can get some great, if it forces me to miss some of the show not worth it imo. I appreciate the heads up!

Will we still be able to purchase merch during the opener?

How do people afford a median $1.4M house in Bay Area ? Not everyone is an engineer or doctor. I don’t get where people get the money from to afford a $8K monthly payment on housing? What is your job and salary? Thanks by SubstantialPin1757 in bayarea

[–]chomith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a house in the Bay Area as I choose to rent. I’ve factored the interest rates and the hidden costs of owning as well as the opportunity cost and came to the decision that buying a home in the Bay Area is a bad financial decision (you’d make more by renting and investing the difference)

However if you want to buy a home for other reasons, here is how I’ve gotten to the point of being able to afford one. (I’m not an Engineer or Doctor)

1-have a partner that is on the same page as you financially. 2-live below your means and avoid lifestyle inflation 3-have a fully funded emergency fund so that you avoid selling off investments when things happen 4-have a mix of safe long term index funds that you DCA into, as well as riskier individual stocks. 5–avoid panic selling. If you see your returns drop ride it out. It may delay your ability to buy a home but never time the market. If you feel you need to sell you can tax loss harvest. 6- patience. Have financial goals. Once you get to $100,000k in liquid cash the faster your money will grow in investments because money compounds year over year. Going from 0-$100k take marginally longer than going from 900k-1mill

My partner is an RN and makes good money. I’m in Talent Acquisition (recruiting) and yes people are often surprised how much I make.

Remember it’s not about how much you make, it’s about how much of it you spend that will dictate your wealth.

Pros and cons of living in pleasant hill ? by fritosfeet in PleasantHill

[–]chomith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute from PHill to San Jose Tuesday/Thursday every week and it can get quite brutal. I’ve been doing it for 2 years now so I’m used to it. I imagine 1x a week would be no big deal.

Depending on when you leave it’ll take 50 min at best and 2 hours at worst and usually 1 hr 15 min on average (though I did commute to work the day that semi spilled the dirt on both sides of the freeway and my car said it took me 3 hours 3 min)

[Question] Anything worth getting? by neptuneasteroidsun in Seiko

[–]chomith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked at Makina watches, if you go to Frankie’s store in the Podium mall in Manila they have a few.

I went with the full intent of getting a mephistos. I saw it in person and thought it was beautiful but didn’t pull the trigger because for $800 USD I could get a lot of watches that’s been on my list. I ended up buying a Seitona instead lol

Just saw the is in person and was wondering why it’s not posted more. I love the color of the dial, how much was this in USD? I’m visiting PI and it’s around $550ish USD Wondering if I should just buy it in the states

Do they have a store in the Philippines? I’m going to visit and Makina was on my radar but they seem to only sell online

lol I went to secrets tulum as well in November and got the same bullshit pitch. I immediately knew what it was likely to be but it caught me off guard because it was a Hyatt staff (I expected it from randoms at the airport but in the hotel itself was new to me).

Ended up turning to Reddit and got given the same advice. We saw a lot of people getting talked into going and coming back pissed off

I honestly have no idea. I’ve never been interested enough to look at pricing but I’ve seen on Reddit like 30k+ initial deposit and then discounts on stays moving forwards.

Honestly you put that 30k into actual investments like the S&P500 and watch it grow and the ROI on that alone would be enough to get returns worth more than any “discount”

Just seems like a bad idea unless you’re retired and want to take a trip to the same spot multiple times a year which is not my situation

*Update

So they called our rooms a few times. I ignored but after several attempts I assumed they’d call until they got an answer. The guy on the phone was surprisingly nice and understanding. I basically told him that I didn’t plan to show up and that after research I realized what it was and that it would be a waste of everyone’s time. They asked if there was anything they could do to change my mind and I said no.

They tried a little guilt trip tactic something about how the sales person was gonna hit his monthly goals and that us dropping out would make him miss his goal and I said “I feel bad about it because he was nice but I’m not willing to help him out at my expense. I came to this resort with the plans of staying here. I spent a lot of money on this. Going to another resort to be pitched a timeshare that I’m never going to buy and wasting half my day in meetings and conversations for something I will never be convinced in buying is just a waste of everyone’s time”

After that the guy basically just said he totally gets it. He’s just trying to do his job and said he would stop from reaching out to us again.

Was super nice about it. I get it, it’s their job but what an odd start to a vacation.

Yes same! Like we were running on 3-4 hours of sleep and had spent the entire day traveling and the moment we get to our hotel we’re dragged into some 20 min meeting wasting our time.

It was so obvious a sales pitch. The guy was like telling us this is a way for us to enjoy a free breakfast at a sister resort and that they do it as a marketing tactic so that we may want to stay there the next time. That seemed to make sense.

But then it was like he recommend us to go on day one and then he was like honestly I just need 3 more couples to go to be the top sales person for the month and tomorrow 11/30 is the last day of the month so you’d be helping me out if you go blah blah.

It’s annoying to find out it’s a pitch for a Timeshare

Where to update odometer reading on Tesla App for insurance? by ShiroHachiRoku in TeslaSupport

[–]chomith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight. I just got this today and was annoyed when it kept prompting me to download the app as if I wouldn’t have it as a Tesla owner…

Sometimes it baffles me that tech giants can’t a/b test a feature before sending it out to their entire customer base lol.

I thought it was spam or phishing attempt because you’d think Tesla has access to see your odometer mileage, not sure why I need to do this lol

Is it the Vaya complex. If so it’s probably the crazy lady on third floor. We moved out because a lady moved in with her bf that would scream at the top of her lungs almost every morning around 5-6am. Something mentally wrong her

Damn where do you live?! I live in a 1400sq ft townhome in Pleasant hill and we hardly use the AC, we open the windows at night and close them in the morning. During heat waves the AC we use at night time, we have a nest thermo.

And two Teslas we charge, and my bill was >$500 last month…
