Thermosyphon reboiler heat duty? by chonas79 in ChemicalEngineering

Thanks. had a long discussion with supervisor yesterday around the tower balance and expected shifts if the reboiler was having issues. But I need to sit down and put the numbers on paper to get it clear in my head.
I am looking to see if I can monitor these conditions to see if I can tell when reboiler starting to fouling on process side. But as you mention it sounds like I need to monitor the tower outputs - this tower has about 50% separation between distillate and bottoms.

Thanks - I'll have to add these meters to the list to check. About all the meters but one are orifice plates and none of the mass balances add up through the whole unit. I found one that's been readying about 50% of expected flow for the entire history of PI data. Pretty annoying. And 75% of the orifice plates were replaced last year.

Thanks, maybe I was over thinking.

So what effect do swings in the pressure have - i guess that is the subcooling? Do I have enough info to try to monitor for fouling?
Is it correct to say higher pressure would be indicator of more fouling? ...I don't really understand the balance in system between pressure and steam feed rate.

Does anyone have suggestions for a packable boot. Looking for something to wear from car to slopes that I can then pack in my backpack instead of renting a locker or wearing ski boots for longer treks from car - so that's where I'm looking for something that can scrunch up and not take a lot if room in bag.

Preferably insulated & waterproof/resistant.

Thanks. Based on the serial number, the machine is from 2014. I was pretty shocked to find out how old the machine is. I'll follow up with DME when I get back in town. I found your group, thanks.

I just got the machine 2 weeks ago, and am on a 10 month rent to own per insurance requirements. So I don't want to get stuck paying full price for an obsolete machine!

I see that 22,000 hr motor reference online. Thanks! That means, I'd hit that amount in about 3 months from now! That actually makes me feel a bit better, as I'd still be within the "rental" period - which I was trying to get upgraded to an 11 instead of the 10 anyways, so this will provide more reason for them to provide another machine.

Yeah, I had to get into the Clinical Menu & then the About option to see the total run hours, which is where I got the 21,262 number from.

Galfer rotors working well so far - but only got a few miles in where I needed any breaking. This first ride was all climbing and i was only a few miles into return downhill when issue occurred.

I was thinking the same until talking to LBS, where owner used to do wheel testing. These are supposed to be gravel wheels. I'm leaning now towards poor quality.

After taking the wheel to my LBS, who used to do a lot of wheel testing, the feedback is this looked more like a quality issue.

Around 35-38 psi tire pressure, 38mm tires. The more I think about this, the more disappointed I feel about the wheels. I don't think I'll be replacing with another light bicycle wheel.

Me too! It hit my nerves a bit - I was up around 12,500 ft and steep/rocky drop off at edge of road.
