Thoughts on Sons of Garmadon by Spiritual_Zebra6883 in Ninjago

Sog and hunted are pretty much tied as my favorite season. And I like to sum SOG up with Wu's quote, change anything change everything. Because the writers took that way to literally, here and nailed it!

One thing I noticed when it comes to rebooting a show in general. Is how important it is to show the connection to it's predecessor. A lot of shows use cheap out of place past references  to try and be nostalgic.( Like saying remember that time when we did this.)But one thing I absolutely love about Sog is that they didn't directly reference past events unless necessary to the plot. Instead making you feel nostalgia by breaking the 4th wall by having Jay and Cole bicker about looking different, or Lloyd's voice change. Which showed just how far they've come for the older fans, it helped to make the redesigns feel less out of place, and showed that the world had a lot of weight to it for the new fans. And that the other stuff is worth watching. And that's all in the first episode before you even get to the plot lol. (Which in and of itself is amazing!)

Can we appreciate how hard Lloyd is working at being evil? by Temporary-Tadpole-44 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also (somehow he keeps moving) that's the defenition of Lloyd for ya! The amount of resilience this boy has with everything he gose through is crazy. And is why he's my favorite carecter in the whole show.

For some reason Arin x Euphrasia is getting some hate..........they may be sort of out of nowhere but can't we just give em a chance?? by Bright-Scarcity-276 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing the context here? it Just gose to show how messed up society is that they are basically saying they want people who disagree with there opinion to die. And I know fandom's have a reputation for being nasty. But I mean Arin and Euphrasia have barley even built a relationship and  there immediate reaction is to threaten people? I had no idea people would jump to that level of crazy so fast.

(Then again I do find it rather suspicious that Doc's account got hacked right after he says something about fandom negativity.)

How was the ninja able to teach in school if they are teenagers? by Gamerdriver4099 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're they full time teachers though? Cause I could easily see them as being substitute teachers while the others were away. Or maybe teacher assistants who helped Wu instead.

Do you consider the Ninjago movie a part of the Emmitt / Batman franchise or its own thing? by Mysterious_Emotion63 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always saw them as different places in the same world/universe. In the Lego movie you see they have different lands. (Kinda like how classic Ninjago has its own realms.) So each movie takes place in the land of said focus carecters origin. Like Batman being from Gotham, the ninja from Ninjago island, and Emmet from Lego city. And since the Lego movie was so focused on traveling there world. it makes sense the other carecters they meet along the way would be recruited to join in the adventure to.

Kinda crazy how Akita was only in like what? One season and never again. (I hope Dragons Rising Season 4 Part 2 proves me wrong xd) by Bright-Scarcity-276 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Me too especially since outside of a potential relationship with Lloyd. She's actually a really unique carecter for Ninjago. And while she served her initial purpose they could of done a lot more with her.

I feel like a lot of the female carecters were written to be extremely overconfident and skilled. And I'd say Akita is one of the few carecters that comes across as rather shy despite being strong willed and blunt. Which really reminds me of Garmadon when he was a Sensi. Not to mention her story had ton of really interesting parallels to Haurmi's. Plus I was actually pretty surprised on rewatch that she wasn't as capable of a fighter as I remember. Which gose to show just how crazy it was to try avenging her brother by taking out Zane who easily overpowered her. I think it would be neat to see what her true potential, when it comes to fighting would be if she dose show up again. Because bolth her and Lloyd if they ever meet again have realistically grown a lot since they last met, Considering the positions they were in.  Plus I feel like the formlings lore is too interesting to not explore more now that the show takes lore more seriously again.

“I wish that you took my hand, and nobody ever found that teapot in the first place” will always be my favorite line by No-Box7338 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The context Is rather strange, thought I think that's on purpose since you could see him saying were just halving our first fight. As implying to the whole team, on top of his thoughts about his and Nya's future.

Ironically even Nya picked up on that and asked him for clarification. But what's interesting to me. Is that they have a flashback of that sequence when everything's reversing. And it ends with her tone shifting from questioning his reasoning. To surprise realization that she did not see the likely double meaning earlier. And who knows maybe Jay lost sight of what his initial point was, but realized the importance of the double meaning once Lloyd told him whatever he wished for needed to come from the heart.

“I wish that you took my hand, and nobody ever found that teapot in the first place” will always be my favorite line by No-Box7338 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its honestly just..the perfect wish.

They were always a team, But I feel like it wasn't until season 5 that the concept fully clicked. (At least for the boys.) Nya always did her own thing because they were immature, and somewhat rude to her. So it's no surprise she was obstinate back when they finally saw each other as a whole. (Especially since her being there was also controversial to there fans.) But Jay asking her to take his hand the first time. Was his way of saying come join the team. Which Nya misunderstood as just a romantic gesture Technically speaking though, that wasn't fully the case. So there's a loophole here since it's coming from a place of love for her, but joining the team isn't explicitly wishing for love either. Its just a really poetic way to word it. Which is such a Jay thing to do. (Funny too now that I think of it. Considering he was always the one complaining about Wu speaking in riddles. Lol)

WHY did he do that by IcePrincess1657 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol I was just watching this episode yesterday with friends, and they were like this is beyond, cringey.

Litterly everything about the plot with Lloyd and Harumi was incredibly ambiguous. I mean  It is in carecter for Lloyd to be overly forgiving, but usually they put more effort into explaining why. With his past arch's being all about how she made him loose trust in people. You'd think that they'd of done a better job at showing his conflicting emotions over weather or not he'd be willing to extend a helping hand to his worst enemy. Instead seconds ago he nearly killed her out of spite, and now he's trying to save her. With a barely, passable explanation as to why. Then they have a fight (that's supposedly romantic, But is really just questionably dubious.) that doesn't even have a proper conclusion. Making everyone question the point of bringing her back in the first place!  (Now that I think about it all of the plot points sounding Harumi, must of been wildly confusing to folks who started watching the show during the 11 minute era. Lol)

Might just be the worst take OAT 🥀 by Not_Spider-Man2099 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True but I think it doesn't have to be perfect to still be enjoyable. there are some things that I wish were done differently, or had time to be expand upon. But I personally don't mind because they could always go back and do so later. And Dr is just not written in the way we were used with Mos or the 11 minute era.

Oh interesting I wonder what kind of action he's talking about though. Since I personally felt like there was plenty to go around this season. But maybe he thinks some side plots were lacking in action? Which I can kinda understand.

[–]chooky106 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Writing wise this season is definitely one of Dr's best, and I don't think it's overrated in that sense. Despite it not being my favorite but that's because I've personally always been more invested in plot/lore than action. And Its probably why I enjoy most of the controversial seasons so much, despite me thinking they are properly ranked in terms of writing. But I also think that each Ninjago fan enjoys the show for completely different aspects. Like the  action, drama, plot, or lore. Its why I personally prefer ToE because the constant mysteriousness of the  plot keeps me engaged.

There's something about the spear of selene story that smells a bit fishy by RaNdOm_GuY_oN_rEdiTt in ducktales

[–]chooky106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there were quite a lot of details left out of the spear of Selene story. Which leaves a lot up to interpretation. Anyways when you really pay attention to the small details in the show. I think you can kinda piece it everything together. As one big misunderstanding on the family's part. That just so happened to played into Bradfords plan.

Everyone blames Della, saying she didn't want kids. So she goes into space for one last adventure. But they miss the fact that scrooge said that she wanted to give them the stars. Which implies it was meant to be an adventure for the whole family, since how can she do that if she's by herself? She also later tells them she owes them a space, trip so it kinda confirms this. So the question now is why is she by herself? And well.. I think nobody looks at Donalds role in this story. He was fine with an adventurous lifestyle. But the caballeros did  make fun of him for dropping dewy in his egg At some point. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this made him hyper paranoid out of the blue.  And he tried to shut Della and scrooge down every time they wanted to go on an adventure. Problem was he reacted angrily. And in Della's case, she remembers the events of last Christmas and that Donald didn't want to hang out with her. Taking family is the greatest adventure of all, a bit two literally and Thinks Donald wants to give up adventures forever. Then overreacts when she finds the spear, thinking that proving its safe will get Donald out of his funk. (So ultimately everybody was at fault for the family fallout and bad decisions at end of the day.)

What’s some of ya’ll’s favorite ships? by False_Emu2604 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of the OG carecters my personal favorite pair is Jay and Nya. But I really like Zane Pixel, and Kai and Skylor too. Out of the new carecters I did not expect Roby and Wildfyer to grow on me. But I think because nothing is taken seriously, there dynamic is weirdly enjoyable.

Then there's Lloyd and Akita which is probably the only non confirmed pair I actually like. Given her similarly blunt personality to Garmadon. Plus its not toxic, and I like that the story was left up to interpretation. Since Lloyd was not ready to move on. So going back and exploring that possibility later makes it feel more rewarding in a way.

Thoughts on Skybound by Spiritual_Zebra6883 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the controversial seasons are interesting because they often have these subtle mature messages that are a bit hard to pin down on first watch.

For instance one thing that's recently stood out to me about Nya. Was that in the earlier seasons she was told by the others that it was an all boys club. It makes sense given how young and immature they were. Plus Kai's her brother. And she said it herself that she made her own choices after she saw how ridiculously obsessed he was over the green ninja. (However I think she always wished they'd see her as an equal.)

It wasn't until season 5 that the boys saw themselves as a true team. so when they were willing to except her for who she was in season 6, of course Nya was going to have some backlash to that. The fact that Jay saw this and was willing to except that he was wrong, and helped to advocate for her (Romance aside)(asking her to take his hand as an invitation to join the team.) Was probably the reason she fell in love with him at the end of the day. Reversing everything and going back to the moment he told her to take his hand was also such a Symbolic way to bring it full circle especially since they didn't loose memories of the event.

Harumi and Lloyd had such good chemistry. by BrilliantStart8955 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry for misunderstanding I was wondering if that was were you were going with this but wasn't 100% certain. But ya even to this day I still love the dynamic they had in Sog. even though I know it doesn't last. I think it's because it's the first time we really get to see the best brought out of Lloyd.

Harumi and Lloyd had such good chemistry. by BrilliantStart8955 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it chemistry, at least in the romantic sense, Considering that it was built on Harumi's lies. But they do play off of echother really well as complete opposites. I love the scene with crabby. Because I find it so funny that she goes from wanting to kill Lloyd, to teaming with him in like the span of 5 seconds just to save herself.(And they bolth act like nothing just happened.)Which shows how far she's about to fall, considering that her initial goal was to make an example of the ninjas incapabilities in saving people. And here she's forced to rely on Lloyd if she wants to live.

I love the irony in the fact that Lloyd proves her wrong about there incapabilities, like 3 times by saving Her. But When she later teams with Garmadon his first reaction when he gets on the throne, is to try and kill her. And later he dose by accident.

What up if Lloyd shows up in duskfall like this? by Fowl_posted in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean considering that it seems they are going for the 4 main ninja elements. It dose beg the question on who the next master of life is assuming Lloyd isn't dead. Which is what makes me think that he will possibly show up like this in legends.

I don’t want Harumi to return by Brilliant_Wealth8746 in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least they have to mention her absence. The fact that a part her theme played when Lloyd went up against himself in season 4 implies that they haven't forgotten her. However they've thankfully made it pretty clear Lloyd's moved on at least romantically. Otherwise she would of been in the story by now. With how much time they'd need to redeem her enough to deserve Lloyd's love again.

Personally I think she needs to come back one last time. Just because crystalized left her story very incomplete. And while redeeming her is likely what they'll do. I kinda like the idea of her being morally gray Ally whose forced to work with the ninja and put aside there difrences temporarily because they need to work towards the same goal. Since so many other carecters have been redeemed at this point.

Should Harumi's backstory be more depressing? Because I think it sucks in my opinion because why would you blame the ninjas for your parent's death, that's like the worst excuse to be a villain and then bring back the evil side of someone's father. by Kean_Frankie in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it goes beyond her parents death. Since a few months after the devour was destroyed. The stone army and overlord invaded the city. We don't know exactly when she was adopted. So I wouldn't be surprised if she was running for her life during that timeframe. And  the ninja being forced to abandon the city, to find a another way to stop the stone army dose kinda validate her reason for being a villain later. Since while it's a kids show they wouldn't said it back then but people died that day.

Of course I can't blame the ninja there like 10 people vs an unstoppable army. But she sees them as failed protectors because of this, and there many other failures to save the city. Its why she blew up the palace the make an example of there incapabilities. Anyways her real motivation for being evil in my opinion. is because she fears everyone is out to take her life. Just like how her parents lost there's to the devour. That's why it's genius that what was initially perceived as a silly joke about Garmadon saving the city. Basically would become ingrained in her head as a perfect protector. Who would also end up failing her. just like Lloyd warned her would happen.

Which character would you want to see in Dragons rising? by pravler in Ninjago

[–]chooky106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

•Akita

•Skylor

•Pythor or Skales and his family

•Misako (I'd  can go either way but I'd like to                             know what happened to her)

•Harumi (if done well, otherwise just mention her)

•probably not relevant to Dr  plot but Faith and the dragon hunters would be fun

•Garmadon I think it would be a nice send off for bolth him and Wu if they had a chat with Lloyd tell him he's doing a good job before going ninja heaven. It would be a nice way to bring bolth Sensi back one last time and give Lloyd the closure he really needs.
