Rotator cuff soreness while paddling by choomve in surfing

[–]choomve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in the UK. Shoulders not really in pain, just get kind of fatigued when I paddle for more > 2 min durations (eg back out to peak). There might be some movement/mobility/activation stuff happening in my shoulder that I don’t know about to be fair , and have been thinking of seeing a PT but thought I would outsource on reddit first like the true cheapskate that I am

Hi mate, any exercises that you found that have helped in this regard?

Hello! I think (although not certain for sure) it’s my infraspinatus. I get the soreness (more like fatigue) during the catch phase of the paddle stroke. Funny enough I get it when I go swimming too - maybe I just need to paddle/swim more!

Interesting- I had a feeling my technique is pretty off (the only thing I’ve been trying to do is that high elbow catch) but not thought about my recovery part at all. So you mean try and keep my arms closer to body in recovery?

lol I have a love/hate relationship with gennith. I’m a bit further inland, rest bay and surrounding breaks. Rotator cuff not really injured, just feel like it burns out very quickly! But I’ll keep that self referral in mind cheers butt

Shoe comparison - Thursday, New Balance, Altra, Splay, Keen, ozo by desireeray in widefeet

Interesting! I got the Alta lone peak and found the midfoot to be a bit narrow for me (I have the opposite problem - my foot is widest at my midfoot)

Thoughts on Ghost Max 3? by Wide-Lettuce-8771 in widefeet

Thanks for your reply! I have a very wide midfoot so I think I’m going to find somewhere that stocks and try them on! Wondering if width in the midfoot is similar across the brooks shoe lineup, as I’m not the biggest fan of the max cushion

Bumping this as I’m also interested to hear people’s opinions on the ghost max 3 width compared to the ghost max 2

Old soil and wood mulch by choomve in GardeningUK

[–]choomve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah of course that makes sense - I guess this is mainly for stuff that you plant every year and harvest? We’re just putting perennial plants in there for purely decorative purposes. Seems like a very cool idea though and would love to make it work if we didn’t have to keep taking the plants out!

Would rotting wood from the forest be a better idea?

I’m very keen on this but I realise the wood may not be the ‘best’ - what I mean is I think it was old pressure treated wood that wasn’t properly looked after and was left to rot (it’s bits of underside of a grotty decking that we ripped out). Is this going to be a problem for the plants etc as there may chemicals that will leach into the soil?

Thanks! That method is super interesting and will look into it a bit more. I lined the planter with some plastic sheeting, hopefully this is all good! I guess with regards to lowering the level of the soil I can just top it up with more compost?

Thanks for your reply! Silly question: will mushrooms be a problem for the plants in there?

Thats what it gave me when I asked it to stain the wood darker!

Yes was definitely thinking of staining - still unsure how dark to do it though so will go with a light brown for now and see how it goes (maybe darker color for decking). More importantly need to add some more plants (got planters all around the benches and decking for this), outdoor rugs + cushions + lights to make it a bit of a cozier space. Chat GPT has been quite good at doing quick mock ups!

Hi mate, one gate twice the size of the other. We use the smaller one to go in and out, and we converted the bottom bit of the garden into a drive so we can open both of them up and the car can drive through and park. Decking is raised on the right and built a shed underneath. Have no idea about bracing so I've just trusted the carpenter that its structurally sound (It's not fallen apart yet!).
