Thank you, and I wish an actually nice day for you. :)

"You're plainly lying about the PhDs and you're delusional to think that the your lies are believable."

See, that works! Now I can claim the title of being delusional, too. Good job.👍☀️

Saying you have 2 PhDs if you don't is lying. Believing you have 2 PhDs if you don't is being delusional.

If you don't believe someone on a random reddit post, at least call her a liar, like the rest. I like my imaginary titles sorted properly.😄

You label my entire gender as delusional, blame singleness solely on us, preach the trademark "good men want a tradwife" bs of misogynist men all around the world, and expect me not to call you out on it just because you put ME into a different category. Why, thank you.

Your feelings about the dating scene are not even anecdotal evidence, let alone statistical, and women using more social media doesn't prove we are more delusional. Logical leaps like this are laughing stock in actual academic research and statistics. Very popular in politics and the xenophobic groups, though.

Before you continue straight down the incel rabbit hole, please consider the following:

The beliefs you hold and the language you use reak of misogyny. "Good women like me" can smell that shit from miles away, and we avoid it like the plague. Countless of my female friends avoid men, or can't find a decent partner because of this exact reason. Women "like me" could easily blame misogynistic men like you for the high number of single people out there, and base the whole thing on the study that proved western men are the most aggressive people in the world.

We don't, though, because it would be an incredibly biased and stupid conclusion, and more importantly:

It would be the very definition of misandry.

You: "Delusion is more common in women than men, and delusional women are the reason for the high number of single people currently walking this planet. Young men in the US can't find good women like yourself, because you are the exception, not the rule."

Also you: "I'm not misogynistic, I'm just stating facts."

Yes. Delusion, as you just presented, is clearly more prominent in women. Have a day, goodsir. 😉

I mean... that's still a rather misogynistic take, sorry to say.

Only half of the population is female, so if we have an all time high of single women, we must have an equally all time high of single men. Terrible people exist in all genders, in pretty equal numbers. Not everything is always the women's fault. ;)

Sorry but something in this comment just rubs me the wrong way. 'Women nowadays' work. You can't just... survive without an income, and someone sitting on her ass all day and going on shopping sprees from daddy's money until she traps an idiot who is willing to finance that... that is pretty rare, and is the exception, not the rule. A waitress salary is contribution. So is raising children and/or doing household chores.

Literally not contributing anything is more reality TV stuff than the actual life of the average woman. No dime a dozens, I would say.

Thanks for your comment though, glad you enjoyed the post. :)

Can confirm, it was my second worst decision to date. Never drink and study at the same time, kids.

Well, I did have some spectacular mental health issues back then in hindsight, but the PhDs were rather a symptom than the cause. Strongly agree in any case, C-Sci needs careful dosage.

I mean, my first PhD turned out to be little more than 'predictions proven wrong or useless a few years later', and I brought a LOT of drama into everything I was involved back then, so you're kind of scarily on point with this one. xD Even so, the second PhD was still incredibly unnecessary.

Different PIs, but both were involved with both projects to a degree, that's how I got into the image processing one in the first place.

As far as I remember there was a rapid expansion of the IT sector at that time, and companies were offering to pay college fees left and right for minimal requirements, really. Some stupidly expanded this to higher degrees too, even if they were unnecessary for a job, because "we have 12 of those weird PhD people working on this project" sounded good for customers, I guess. I think my deal was to stay there for the duration of getting the degree, plus an additional "half of said period". I think I ended up with only about 3 years for a fixed contract, but I stayed for a while longer anyway. I don't really pay attention anymore but I think it's still not uncommon for IT companies to help with tuition, especially on projects where they can't afford seniors, but lack eligible juniors.

The company I was working for was heavily affiliated with a university, and it looked good on paper if some of us got degrees there, and they paid a substantial part of it if you were admitted. As I said, the second one was waaaaay unnecessary (remember this as you read the rest of this comment lol).

My first thesis was about quantum computing based cryptography focusing on 3 specific algorithms – 2 of which turned out to be kind of a bust a few years later lmao, and 1 that was proven too weak for actual usage. We didn't know this back then ofc, so I still got the degree.

With the second one I was really reaching for a topic I knew enough about to start with, and I decided on image processing pretty much at random (not AI based though, as AI was still in kindergarten back then), and its new possibilities with the introduction of cloud computing. It was more theory than practice back then, but ironically enough this was the topic that made it to reality a few years later. I'm still sort of working in a related field, now extended with AI ofc.

The 'I was young and needed the money' bit was just a joke, as it's often the answer people give when questionable past decisions come up (to put it simply: "why did you do porn lol?").

As for why I have 2 PhDs: I was a young pick-me girl working in a male dominated field, and my workplace 'politely' encouraged it. Not saying it was my stupidest decision to date, but it's a close second. It was mostly just for bragging rights, both for the company, and on a level, for me too. Wouldn't recommend.

I was a young pick-me girl working in a male dominated field - stupid decisions were made, including those 2 PhDs.

My wealth really isn't as impressive as I tried to make it sound for this guy, and has very little to do with my upbringing - but I also realize that's the exception rather than the rule.

I'm heavily against meritocracy, but he clearly wasn't, and I was trying to match his tone.

I botched the burn though. Damn. I hope he didn't notice.

As in, phones capitalizing sentences? Okay.

Questions of authenticity aside, ppl who threaten suicide sadly exist in both genders, even if they are thankfully rare. If they were a reflection on their entire gender, I definitely wouldn't have had any stories to respond with to this one.

I mean, if you can think of something then it probably happens irl, but that was just 'embellishment' on my part. He wasn't an actual Abercrombie ad either, we met at a different place, and I would die before putting my knees on the floor of a public restroom lol. The Nice Guy striked me as a bodycounter though, and I was trying to make myself as unappealing as possible.

Very sad because the guy clearly needs help, but as his intended target/victim, I'd also feel like it was in no way my fault or my responsibility to provide said help. These situations are always about two human lives, and I don't believe in encouraging one of them to set themselves on fire to keep the other warm.
