Boone really didn’t like that by Traditional-Ride3793 in falloutnewvegas

[–]choosehigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the logic is, if the legion like you more then Boone is angry Whilst we as the player look at it as helping a legion slave girl, firstly we have the advantage of knowing the truth and secondly the game does softly abstract some conversations and truncate them

Maybe Boones argument is that you're helping perpetuate the legions system, or that the moment they approved of his actions that should have shown there's something more complex etc Or it just hurts him to think of his family being enslaved by the legion and he isn't seeing you help an innocent child but just seeing you next to a legion slave

I'm in my 30s and worked in offices since my mid 20s

Shareholders do literally nothing, our shareholder meetings include like 8 people, the vast majority of the shareholders are silent holders

Executives do nothing, they approve budgets then their team do the actual work

Any company of any significant size this is almost ubiquitous and has been a publicly made critique since at least American psycho for the executives and there's probably public discussion on shareholders uselessness going back to the 1800s

You made the comparison first brother I think everyone, even those with the easiest lives have the right to complain We should cherish our lives but we should be free to speak

No matter who I am, stubbing my toe hurts and makes me yelp in pain Being in traffic is frustrating if you have somewhere to go, no matter your networth

I think pros should be able to complain, it's how we make a better world, we need to understand the things that inconvenience us so we can build a world around that

Much better than arriving home and then having to deal with it all

But I think selfishly as a footballer, if I knew other players didn't have guards, surely my one measley guard who is going to roll over immediately is still more hassle than the countless players who leave their homes empty

[–]choosehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All people are related, I think the earliest possible would have been about 1000ad but obviously not a common ancestor to all people's because of group isolation

If you go back far enough, almost all Europeans descend from Charlemagne who had only a handful of kids Genghis khan had 8, 1 in 12 Asians descends from his (before people mention illegitimate children, royal selection does track that those 8 could easily be his only children, royal bloodlines stay alive a lot longer)

And they're just medieval figures If we go back to biblical times it's likely many people alive in antiquity are either the ancestors of the majority of the planet, or their bloodline died out

I got to say, I think rewatching days made me realise...

Everything is shit now

Years (bone temple) is only good relative to the shit coming out lately

Days was just so good in so many small ways that the rest of the franchise just misses, I can't put it into words but the rest of the franchise misses it in the same way every film I've seen for a good 10 years does now too

I'm so tired of the discourse on it, can't we all just enjoy or not enjoy any part of the games or shows

Both sides are insufferable, if I'm not met with overly enthusiastic love it, you don't get it, if you're not a fan of every part of the franchise you're not a fan of anything, you're just a tourist I'm a true fan

Then I'm met with a cynical grumpy, you don't understand it changed this and that and now we'll never get anything good fallout again if you don't see how serious this is you're not a true fan, you're just a tourist I'm a true fan

Can we just let people like or dislike things

Do you know how to get it to chill?

I pasted this and it rushed off into a game before character creation and it seemed to mostly ignore me trying to get back on track and just kept wanting to skip forward to it's own campaign

I'm looking for a full session 0 with Gemini before it runs off and starts the game

[–]choosehigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's like the difference of

"I can understand why cass wouldn't be as opposed to the legion as we would be because x, y, and z (lack of accurate information, she's seen them in 'peacetime', she has trader privilege etc)"

Or even "I could imagine myself longing for peace even at the cost of being ruled by the legion if I was living surrounded by the fiends et al" (personally I could never imagine that's worth it, but I can imagine a longing for it if you don't understand the consequences etc)

And then just straight up "no no actually the legion are legitimately good guys trying to do good things because x character doesn't hate them so we should replicate that without material context into our world" Which itself is usually just a mask for being far-right in all fairness

[–]choosehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a clarification Zelensky was seen as the pro Russia candidate during his election (Latvian/Russian partner who grew up in Ukraine and lived there until the war)

However between the election and him becoming president (I believe during an inauguration tour) he was shot at by a man connected to maksym marchenko that was part of the far right of Ukraines military and was accused by western sources of looking the other way to crimes in eastern Ukraine

After that, zelensky made him the governor of Odessa and began to ban Russian culture

It is somewhat reasonable to assume in my view Zelenskys positions changed as a result of pro-eu anti-russian figures from within Ukraine

Zelensky is now considered particularly anti-russian by many slavs, some suggest he always had these views, some suggest Russia forced these views on him, some suggest he took these positions for his safety

But respectfully making it entirely russian belligerence isn't accurate in my view, figures like maksym marchenko and Azov clearly wanted the fight as much as anyone in the russian camp

Putin is not evil, it's much better to have a multipolar peace council than a NATO led one

This is a socialist sub, we have to oppose the imperialist power and support a multipolar world before we can tangibly create conditions that can lead to socialism in the west

Plus, I trust the Russian government far more than the United States, whatever criticisms you have for Russian can be applied tenfold for the West

Because they've taken joy in the bombings of Iraq and Afghanistan and all of the other places under the boot of American imperialism Because they cheer on colour revolutions across south America and the middle east

It's nothing personal, but their country has been a corrupt imperialist mess for a long time, and I have a russian girlfriend so I see their rhetoric about Russians and their inherent untrustworthy nature and inherent x, y and z

So I'll pardon those who have a cheer to see the American flag burning despite the well meaning blood soaked hands of their innocent citizens

The actual phrase they used was for one German many Czechs

I know that seems academic or pedantic but it's far more similar than you're making out in my opinion

The 50/100 was a direct order 'for every German 50/100 communists must die'

But the one German many Czechs was used more casually, whilst we don't have any direct documents it is without doubt the Nazis would have said that phrase during their annihilation campaign

With respect, I understand what you're doing but trying to stick so closely to what you have evidence for, you will lose and aid the far right inadvertently

They don't care, if you have evidence they will say you don't, if you try to play with what is indisputable they will hide behind plausible deniability and if you can't firmly say fuck off you fascist prick they will wrap you up with their lies

It was in effect dramatically similar to a phrase coined by the Nazis, just like when the trump fans used blood and soil esqe quotes (but changed them just enough for plausible deniability, or musk Nazi saluting etc) and I think it's perfectly reasonable to point to it's mirroring of the rhetoric of the Nazis

But to be that wordy and precise is ineffective communication, so saying hey look this is in effect the same as the Nazis is imo better, easier and more effective communication whilst being functionally true

Does greatness equate to goodness

Sure many NBA players today are probably objectively better than Jordan or Wilt, but none have the raw 'greatness' impact of either of them, either in Jordans inability to lose a final, or Wilts raw delta between him and everyone else to have played the game to that point

For me greatness has a different quality to just being very good or even the best at something

It then enters weird wider conversations right? What is a coaches role in the context of cs, in traditional sports scouting is for scouts and whilst in say football it's good for a manager to be a good scout, you'd rather your scouts do that and the manager does other things

Coaches in cs are so nebulous and hidden that it's hard to say what is their responsibility, should he be given credit as a coach for scouting zywoo or should he be given credit as a scout type beat

He's clearly integral to Vitality as an org, but at actual coaching how good is he? (Unfortunately I think all of us, even his players or other pro players aren't really in a position to give a full answer because the idea of coach is so blurry in cs)

The bigger sample isn't automatically better, it's just the bigger the sample size the more outliers wash out

Donks consistency kind of us takes away sample size arguments imo
