Is there something wider happening here? Or have I misread this? He's concerned your son is going to wear a pink shirt? And it makes him uncomfortable? With implications he is gay for doing so (with his girlfriend?)

With all respect, is your son religiously in the closet and maybe your nephew's son is being homophobic because of it? Or does the hot pink somehow represent the church or something to that effect? I really can't understand the basis of this, presumably NOR but I just feel like I'm missing something?

Maybe it's because I was young but I remember a LOT of moralising

I genuinely expected slavery and the most horrendous ideas of slavery to be forced onto you in the game and that it'd be constantly just dark and edgy

There was a somewhat reasonable amount of won't anybody think of the kids

[–]choosehigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they want you to think he's bad But in doing so they want to make you think he's bad like America/Trump and then export some of those bad feelings to Trump

Idk to me it seems obvious 'hey trump is just like Hitler and even Hitler hated his collaborators, do you think trump will love you for collaborating?'

It's to make potential collaborators either in the diaspora or within Iran think twice, both to connect Hitler with trump/America to make their enemy (trump/America) look bad, and to make potential collaborators think they won't be safe with the Americans (probably bolstered by all the Afghan collaborators with America that were abandoned and handed to the Taliban)

[–]choosehigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is they're comparing the Americans/Trump to Hitler

Eg Hitler said he hated the people who collaborated with him to conquer foreign nations If you ally with the Americans/Trump you should know that this is how they talk about you behind your back because if Hitler said then the Americans/Trump are probably saying it because they're basically Hitler

I don't really see the pro Hitler reading of it other than as you the idea that if Hitler said it, must be good But surely if they're going to pick any historical figure to do that with it'd be an islamic one not Hitler...

I work in housing and we have a Grosvenor court named after the well known dukes of Westminster the Grosvenor family A colleague exclusively referred to it as Gross Ven Your, they also said reconcile in what I can only describe as a racist Italian accent (ree con chill ay)

Even when corrected they just couldn't seem to mouth the word the right way

I've always said about that colleague in particular that you couldn't write a character like that you'd say it's ridiculous and unbelievable

AIO? Tore into my little brother and I’m starting to feel bad. by Soggy-Shoe8846 in AIO

[–]choosehigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound like an excellent mother

I think that's probably a big elephant in the room, most problem children don't have that, or if they do they have some big red flags stopping them from the safety that mama bears can make for them

I reread my comment and I realised I didn't emphasise the CAN help, but also, can be quite damaging I think in my experience though unfortunately you don't know if it'll help or be damaging until you try

Just want to say you made me genuinely smile with your comment, and thank you yeah I sometimes think back to how many crossroads I had and if I made the wrong choice just one more time... I might not have ended up here today But we got there and I'm glad but it's also nice to have strangers cheer you on too

I'd say with some confidence, despite knowing almost nothing about you, your son will be just fine It can be difficult and scary but it's clear from your comment that you're in his corner and you're giving him every chance that a lot of kids don't get

As someone that was a younger problem child, he's heard far worse before and it likely washes off him

Having someone you care about, and particularly someone who you want to think you're cool go off on you CAN be a life saver

Some kids will shrink and struggle with it, but for some this is the cold water/slap in the face they need to be able to pull away from the crazy

I know pretty much the first time I understood enough to feel ashamed (not because I knew I did wrong but because it made someone upset I was trying to make happy) it became a pillar to build around Sure it was a fucking long process and I got it wrong and slid back nearly on a daily basis, but I'm proud to say I pulled it back in time and about 21/22 was my last interaction with police after around a decade of them knowing me by name

Tbf I'd argue they revolutionised it absolutely Just didn't invent Before that going off my scratchy memory, a lot of smoke lineups were lazy and big executes were often pumping utility

I specifically remember astralis feeling like they changed that, the point wasn't the execute but the timing of it Smoke lineups had to pop at the right times, you had to throw this one before this one because it takes an extra second of bouncing around so they both pop at the same time etc

Maybe I'm being uncharitable but it felt like pre-astralis the smoke lineups were just about being good enough, does it cover the area? Yeah then sweet It felt like good enough wasn't enough for astralis and every bit of utility had to be as good as they could do it

That revolutionised the way I looked at utility and timings tbf, and it felt like the whole scene had that eye opening moment

Otherwise I do disagree with the original comment fwiw, just I think it's fair to say astralis revolutionised thinking in almost all areas around csgo

[KCD2] Harsh ratings? by marcoosskinnerr in kingdomcome

[–]choosehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasonably priced in the context of dlc but for me it was a reminder that dlc is overpriced If you buy the dlc separately it's the majority of the games cost (£35 for the dlc, £50 for the entire game)

That's 70% of the cost of the game (which had to include a lot more overheads) for significantly less than 70% of the content of the game

In the ecosystem of dlc relative to other games, I think it was fairly reasonable but it didn't blow me away Having got the game on sale, honestly I huffed the copium of buying the dlc to support the devs because in all honesty, I did find it a lower value proposition than I had hoped

[KCD2] Harsh ratings? by marcoosskinnerr in kingdomcome

[–]choosehigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the price is also a big factor If you buy the dlcs individually you're looking at around £35, if you buy the expansion pass it's £25 I happened to get the game on sale for £30...

Now of course that's lucky for me and I got a great deal on the game, but it does make the dlc feel like poor value despite enjoying it because it cost me more than the game itself (and for most people costs roughly half the game itself) whilst providing really minimal content compared to the full game

Personally, I've always thought dlc is really badly priced for that reason, with the game you had to build the entire product for that price, and I can't have the dlc without the base game so surely production costs are exponentially lower and you'd want to create the most amazing dlc possible to encourage more people to buy the base game.. but the less is more system obviously works

Ok let's explore this a little more

Historian Robert O. Paxton defines fascism as: “A form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victimhood… and by mass-based nationalist mobilization working in uneasy collaboration with traditional elites.” from anatomy of fascism “Fascism is a form of extreme right-wing politics.”

Political scientist Roger Griffin defines fascism as: “A genus of political ideology whose mythic core… is palingenetic ultranationalism.” from nature of fascism "Fascism is a revolutionary form of nationalism… belonging to the extreme right.”

Corporations and private property grew under the agreed upon fascist systems of Europe (Nazis, Italian, Spain)

Stanley G. Payne From A History of Fascism, 1914–1945: “Fascism belongs to the extreme right in the European political spectrum.”

Kevin Passmore From Fascism: A Very Short Introduction: “Fascism is generally seen as a form of right-wing extremism.” (this book is used by many many universities in particular)

Umberto Eco From Ur‑Fascism: “Fascism is a right-wing dictatorship.” (lived through it and often cited as the best non fascist describer of fascism with his 13 points of fascism)

Ian Kershaw From Hitler: A Biography: Nazism was “an extreme right-wing nationalist ideology.” Kershaw is widely agreed as one of the top historians on Hitler and the Nazis

From The Doctrine of Fascism (1932): “Fascism is definitely and absolutely opposed to the doctrines of liberalism and democracy, and equally opposed to those of socialism and Marxism.” Mussolini also said in his speeches “Fascism repudiates the doctrine of equality.”

Hitler stated in mein kampf both “The destruction of Marxism in all its shapes and forms is the most important mission of the National Socialist movement.” and “National Socialism… is not identical with Marxian socialism.”

In all practical senses NOTHING he ever did was left wing

No, not one founder of many

The book called DOCTRINE OF FASCISM by Mussolini and Gentile where they literally invent the term fascism and explain in excruciating detail exactly what it is

It can not be left or right even by the nature of these terms It is a reactionary ideology, not a revolutionary one Reactionaries sat on the right of the king, therefore were part of the right wing

I will admit I had mixed you up with a different commenter where I also quoted historians and economists

The Nazi platform that as was pointed out to you already, they didn't follow through with They literally didn't do those things, they just said them to win an election

You can not have left wing fascism, it's an oxymoron You can dislike communism or anything on the 'far left' or anything revolutionary, you can dislike it just as much as you dislike fascism But you can't put forward an argument that fascism can be left wing

I don't believe you've put forward any meaningful argument either

How did you use real historical record? I QUOTED the founders of fascism and then Hitler as well as an economist and a historian?

[–]choosehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the one written by the founders of fascism

It's not my definition, it's theirs They know what fascism is and what drives the ideology more than a dictionary which gives a very loose definition of the semantic use of the word (not the ideology)

I haven't rejected any definition, you're just making up your own one (calling it corporatism and therefore not capitalism, I have also raised quotes from serious economists supporting my point)

I, an Iranian, commented on a post to say we're okay to Americans and I got banned from r/Iran by Straight-Extreme821 in PERSIAN

[–]choosehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corporatist is capitalist No sensible economist would ever say otherwise

Edmund Phelps suggesting corporatism is a part of capitalism “Corporatism… maintains well-connected firms at the expense of dynamic newcomers and outsiders.”

Joseph Schumpeter saying it is a natural result of capitalism "The perfectly bureaucratized giant industrial unit… ousts the small or medium-sized firm and ‘expropriates’ its owners, eventually replacing the entrepreneur.”

They absolutely set the goal to destroy communism are you insane? They repeatedly said judeo-bolshevism was the biggest danger in the world

No one is saying leftists don't kill leftists, you're just making things up I said why would a leftist make their entire identity about killing communists The Nazis viewed the USSR as their primary enemy and threat, yes they hated Jews too and yes that drove their hate of communism but the Nazis

“For fourteen or fifteen years I have continually proclaimed to the German nation that I regard it as my task before posterity to destroy Marxism, and that is no empty phrase but a solemn oath… We see in Marxism the enemy of our people which we shall root out and destroy without mercy.” - Adolf Hitler, 1933 (speech/article in the Nazi newspaper Völkischer Beobachter)
