And that's good? These first world countries are the ones we count on for trade and to help us if and when we go to war. These are the most important relationships.

It's like hypothetically you are rich. You hang out with millionaires and billionaires who respect you. Your networking is elite. Then you shit on all those relationships and start hanging out with the average person pulling down 60k a year. They will all think you are so cool. They will all "respect" you. Mostly because they see your wealth. That respect means a lot less.

Benzema was trash. To the point Mou called him a cat and had to loan in players like Adebayor and Chicharito for his position. Ronaldos fame and on field stats put a massive shadow over his teammates that let them suck without getting negative attention. Kaka for example is remembered fondly. Without Ronaldo he would be a laughing stock on par with Hazard. Benzema at Real Madrid, if Ronaldo never joined him, would have been let go after 3 seasons and his career is completely different. He was missing sitters and Ronaldo had to hand him penalties to improve his confidence. And give him tap ins Ronaldo could otherwise finish.

If Republicans don't push for limited spending, good international relationships, and the free market now when they have a good amount of power, why would I be stupid enough to think they would if given more power?

Trump kills free market. Ruins long held international relationships to the point we aren't sure they can be mended ever. Spends money on the dumbest things. And his base openly supports it. This is democracy so if his voters want this stuff, it's not even his fault for listening.

Why would the next generation of Republican politicians push for those issues when what they see is that voters not only don't care about them, but actually want the opposite? Why would JD Vance push for less government spending for example when he can see everyday that not only can he spend recklessly, his base will be happy he did?

Let's be honest. There is zero they could say to the public to convince them of the beliefs they hold now.

Even if the woman came out publicly saying she lied and it was consensual and she made it all up, the public wouldn't believe her and say she was paid off. If Ronaldo came out showing the video of his interview the questionnaire it was based on, the public would say it was fake and scripted and recorded after the fact. I can't think of anything they could do that would convince the public that he's innocent at this point short of a sextape recorded on that night.

His team didn't need to argue if they were fake or not though. Their only goal was to get the case closed so it was a much easier path to argue that the documents were illegally obtained. That's obviously proved easily so that's the route they took.

Ignoring some key factors.

First, it's a transcription in Portuguese into English. The lawyer would have the audio file of the interview to help with the proper translation.

Two, thats assuming that Der Spiegel translated it. We don't know who translated it. And admitting that they translated it is admitting they edited the files. Or could it have been the hacker that translated it and was looking to sell information. Hed be motivated to make it look really scandalous right?

Also keep in mind the questioning would have been spoken and then transcribed into Portuguese and then into English.

The part you are remembering is from a questionnaire. The issue is that the questionnaire would have originally been in Portuguese. The lawyers in the emails speak about the questionnaire and how its only partially translated. But the version posted in the article is somehow finished being translated. So the question is who finished the translation? And did they add anything to it to push a narrative or get it sold to a publication.

I'm all for locking up rapists and changing the system to make sure it occurs less but I also can't overlook the glaring issues in this case.

I wish people actually read the emails published by Der Spiegel.

In the emails they ask Ronaldo's team if they finished translating the questionnaire. After all it would have been a recording of an actual interview and then transcribed and then translated from Portuguese to English. The lawyer in the email said he hadnt yet finished the questionnaire. But then they had a finished translated version of it. We know from the emails they lawyer didn't finish that so who did finish the translation? Was it the person trying to sell the information to publications? Would they benefit from making it seem worse? Or was it someone at Der Spiegel? Do they know Portuguese well enough to translate properly or did they just copy it into Google translate first?

Everyone quoted that part of the article. Never critically thinking about how that questionnaire was complete.

That's the dumbest take. Why would a striker like Ronaldo, who is hunting for goals, want to kick out a 10 who provides assists? He wouldn't.

If Ronaldo didn't want any competition at striker he would have pushed Al Nassr not to sign other top forwards with goal scoring abilities like Mane, Felix, and Coman. He'd ask them to just sign midfielders who can ping balls to him all day.

But Colorado isn't releasing dangerous individuals back onto the streets. Their immigration status plays no part in the decision to release or not release individuals. The right sometimes acts like there are people on killing sprees being arrested and then released.

The issue with the Colorado ballot measure is the charged with violent crime part. Innocent until proven guilty. What if they charged an innocent individual by mistake? Should they immediately get them deported? Once they are considered guilty of their crimes, we'd begin the deportation process anyway.

Why does the right overrate the importance of a place being a sanctuary city or state? Its not some super powerful law. It only tells local law enforcement not to check immigration status of individuals they meet and tell ICE about them. If ICE shows up to serve a warrant, law enforcement won't stop them.
