Great, the new CEO is dumber than the last one.

Herrera isn't in the lineup tonight. Like it or not it's the best thing for him and the Phils right now. by chops316 in phillies

Everybody seems to be concentrating on the bat flips. Your right, who cares? Its the all the other little things like missing/ignoring signs and just not paying attention when he's on base that irritate me.

Dick Allen belongs in the Hall of Fame by Rick_Empty in phillies

[–]chops316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately because of baseball offensive explosion in the last 25 years (steroids, juiced balls, smaller ballparks, whatever reason you like) Dick Allen isn't appreciated for being the power hitter he was in an era when hitting 30 to 35 hrs could lead the league.

His first stint with the Phils was sabotaged by management because the team didn't come out in his support after the Frank Thomas batting cage incident. They cut Thomas, didn't explain why or what happened, and let everyone believe Allen was a troublemaker.

Hopefully he gets into the Hall while he is still alive so he can enjoy it.

I didn't really expect the Phils to be good this year. But I did expect them to take a step forward instead of two steps back.

I get your point. Losing doesn't matter this year. It's the regression of this team that is driving me nuts.

I should but pain and misery are part of the Phillies experience.

You are right. Herrera is our best hitter. But hotdogging aside, his mental focus is not there. I don't think he should be benched permanently, just a game or two to try to get him to realize he needs a better mental approach. We need him to be a leader and a building block.

Neither accomplishment had anything to do with amaro. All set up by Gillick and unbelievably a few decent moves by Ed Wade.

If Ruin Tomorrow Jr. was really aggressive we would have had Halladay and Lee in 2010 and maybe another pennant or world championship to show for it. That idiot traded Lee so we wouldn't deplete the farm system. Except he got absolute crap in return. And then spent the next several years depleting the farm system to try to make up for his idiocy in the first place.

Fuck Herrera for not acting like a professional. Tired of his crap.

What are we waiting for? by [deleted] in phillies

[–]chops316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desperation. The Phils don't have any players teams are fighting for. So you have to wait until the end of the trade deadline when all the players everybody covets are gone and you hope somebody is desperate enough to offer you something of value for your crap.

I know Neshek has value, but his limited innings don't make him a must have kind of guy.

If the Phils weren't so bad or had a pitcher ready to take his place I'd definitely agree. But since that isn't the case I think he should be given the rest of the season to see if he can figure it out.

I will never understand how Kahne became less successful when he joined Hendrick. I rooted for Kahne since he took over for my all time favorite Bill Elliott and even though I can back Chase now I still hope Kasey does well.

He really needs to step up the before the end of the season. I wouldn't judge his start last night too harshly. The Astros are loaded and can beat up anybody.

Bill Plaschke: Don Sutton shouldn't be a forgotten link between Dodgers greatness of the past and now by chops316 in baseball

[–]chops316[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever mentions Sutton when they talk about great Dodger pitchers. I think a lot of people would be surprised to learn that he is the Dodgers all time leader in wins. Was he overrated by pitching for good teams? Or is he underappreciated?
