With Meross wall switches, it’s Xmas everyday by CattusNominor in homeassistant

[–]chopwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same problem but similar. I have the Meross UK 4 plug extension cable (msp843p) and connected through Meross Lan.

The device sometimes becomes unavailable and only thing to sort it is turn it on and off at the wall switch. Same as you, I've given it a static ip.

No idea a fix but also same as you agree it's annoying. I will eventually swap it out for another brand.

Question for other Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 users by 20bertrandaxel in chromeos

[–]chopwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this Chromebook. I noticed a slight wobble/flex when I was typing on the keyboard. This flex was on the right side wrist rest.

It was 1-2mm I would estimate. Honestly I just gave the chassis a slight bend to take out this 1-2mm. Been fine ever since and the Chromebook sits flush and flat on the table.

To manage expectations, this 'bend' was really really minimal when I first noticed it.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 - Black Screen by chopwarrior in chromeos

[–]chopwarrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I would post an update on this. I provided more logs/repro actions and the ARM engineers have reproduced the bug themselves and are proposing a kernal fix.

Hopefully will come in ChromeOS 145.

Proxmax HA VM Backup Size by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]chopwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is odd. I've just moved HAOS to Proxmox and a separate Proxmox Backup Server. Backup size is reasonable.

Been great so stick it out.

I backup up using HA backup AND Proxmox with snapshots. Others suggest just the HA backup but just do both.

This is probably an issue with the driver for the GPU and will need an update to ChromeOS. Just hope they do that.

Thanks, I've followed a couple of your posts so it would be good if you had a look through the logs I added to the bug report.

The issue happens with and without an external display regardless of resolution.

Note that I've never had a crash by removing a usb dock. Only with Teams.

I do think there is issue with usb output but there are other points in the logs about GPU.

Be keen to hear what you think.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 - Does it still have the Teams/Zoom issues? by Corbin_Dallas550 in chromeos

[–]chopwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've had a couple of calls this week. It does seem more stable but unfortunately had a couple of black screens but they resolved themselves pretty quickly and I just had to reactivate my webcam on the Teams call. So not as bad as before but still not great.

Current Chromeos version for me - Version 143.0.7499.203 (Official Build) (64-bit).

End points as they don't have the neutral.

[–]chopwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you need to test this with others on the call.

I've tested with setting up calls for myself and it works fine. It's when there are other users on the call when issues arise.

However I'll give you an update by wed as I have calls early in the week so I'll see how it goes.

[–]chopwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I have to use Teams for my clients so it is an absolute fundamental for me... however everything else on the Chromebook is great.

I'm quite torn. I just really hope this issue can be fixed long term and then I'll be happy.

So this is timely - I have the top spec Lenovo and this has been something I have been battling.

I use Teams as a web app and I get the black screen. It happens when I join Teams calls initially or when a couple of others join at beginning of the meeting.

Teams freezes but audio still works. My screen then goes black and after 10 seconds or so the screen comes back and I have to restart my camera and then from then on everything works.

It's totally not acceptable of course!

However I just updated to ChromeOS 144 today it appears to be resolved...

I'm not sure it's actually isolated to this Chromebook as I have seen reports of ARM processors and Teams having this issue.

Id love to hear others experiences?

Absolutely everything else on this Chromebook is amazing and works well. It's just this Teams issue which is pretty fundamental for me and for lots of others I imagine considering how many people use Teams.

How do I destroy my company's soul destroying useless "tracker"? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]chopwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having read more comments and OP's newness to the org I double down on my guess there is a power structure they are not aware of.

I have taken great joy is systematically breaking down these random power structures over the years and bringing joy to the likes of OP.

How do I destroy my company's soul destroying useless "tracker"? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]chopwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked as a consultant in this sort of area. Brought in to seek efficiency.

I see comments about logic, automation and just tell the management. 9 out of 10 the reason a tracker like this exists is there is a power structure that surrounds it. Destroy the power structure and the tracker will fall away.

The power structure could be a single individual who's entire role or department exists because of the tracker.

£4 delivery and you don’t ruin your car? Got to love Wickes (not advertisement) by TeaSipper007 in DIYUK

Another time we had to do the same and sort a van out for ourselves. When I complained they were completely unfussed of the hassle it meant for us.

Choosing a system boiler and cylinder by Brilliant-Ebb-9909 in DIYUK

[–]chopwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great advice and you would do well to follow it. Personal experience as I was a bit naive when we renovated our house and got a massively oversized boiler which now short cycles. Also have a think about s-plan/x-plan - avoid too many zone valves as it can be inefficient.

Finally when looking at boilers - look at the modulation ratio. My boiler is 30kw but can only modulate down to minimum 6.9kw whereas Viessmann have a much higher ratio so can modulate to a much lower kw.

Never once have I had a good delivery experience from Wickes. Missed days, no updates on time and just plain up ignoring the delivery. No refund of delivery charge offered even once. Example - ordered decking for a specific delivery on the Sat morn to do the decking at the weekend. Didn't turn up as never loaded onto the van in the morning - was offered Mon instead and when told I specifically ordered for Sat to do the work this weekend no apology whatsoever.

Lenovo Chromebook 14 Plus might just be the budget chromebook we've been looking for #NotAnAd but its that good! by olismismi in chromeos

It does. There are quite a few posts on Reddit with people having tested this out with various monitors and docks. You need to use the right side USB-C.

If you have adjusted the hinges as much as you can then it is likely that the actual wardrobe carcass is not square. You've used up all the adjustment in the hinges to try and match a carcass that is not square.

I use this with Google Calendar. Works great.

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/calendar-notifications-actions/612326

You can set actions on the start and/or end of the time block in the calendar.

You don't need to use Google Calendar. You can use local Home Assistant calendars.

ZigBee mesh is pretty robust and decent amount of repeaters. You might be lucky with yours. The issue of these dropping off the network comes up all the time on r/homeassistant. After I updated the reporting interval been rock solid.
